Steph Curry gave staff at Waterville Golf Links in Ireland the surprise of a lifetime when he rocked up for a round of golf this week.

The NBA superstar, who is set to be affected by President Donald Trump’s tariffs on Vietnam, has been enjoying some well earned rest since his Golden State Warriors side was defeated in the conference semifinals of the NBA Playoffs last month, jetting off across the Atlantic Ocean to play at one of the top five courses on the Emerald Isle.

It comes as the Thunder await their official White House invite from United States President Donald Trump following their first-ever NBA championship in Oklahoma City on Sunday, while NBC Sports has hired Maria Taylor as its lead NBA and WNBA studio host for next season’s coverage.

Having been knocked out at the conference semifinals stage of the 2025 NBA Playoffs, Curry has had a number of extra weeks on his hands to rest and recuperate before getting back to it for the 2025-26 campaign, and has opted to spend some of it outside of the U.S.

On Tuesday, the Waterville Golf Links Instagram page shared a post announcing Curry’s visit to the iconic venue, uploading a number of pictures with the 37-year-old posing for pics with some of its staff.

Located in Waterville, County Kerry, the golf course, which is rated as one of the top 20 links courses in the world, also revealed that Curry was not alone, with his brother Seth, who also plays in the NBA with the Charlotte Hornets, and their father Dell, who played in the NBA from 1986 until 2002, joining him.

The trio were also accompanied by their friend Damion Lee, who currently plies his trade with the Phoenix Suns but is a former teammate of Curry’s at Golden State.

“A very warm welcome to NBA legends Steph Curry, Seth Curry, their father Dell Curry, and fellow NBA star Damion Lee to Waterville Golf Links,” a caption for the post read. “It was an honour to host such incredible talent from the basketball world – we hope you enjoyed your day on the links!”

In the comments section of the Instagram post, a number of fans gave their reactions to the revelation. One person commented: “Great to see,” while another said: “The best at the best!!!!”

Curry has never hidden his love for golf, having previously hosted a charity golf tournament alongside his wife, Ayesha. Whilst there, Curry posed for a picture with CBS Sports reporter Amanda Balionis.

The 39-year-old, who recently gave an intimate snapshot of life away from the U.S. Open, tried on Curry’s Olympic gold medal for the photo, hanging it around her neck and holding it up for the camera.

Back in August 2023, Curry congratulated Irish golfer Róisín Scanlon after she won the final tournament of his unique junior golf tour, Underrated, in California, claiming a one-shot victory over her nearest challenger following three rounds of 67, 73 and 76.

“Thrilled to present Lucky Cruz and Roisin Scanlon as our second annual Curry Cup Champs!” Curry wrote on X. “Incredible to witness #UGTour come to life in this way just two years in, and I know it will only continue to get bigger and better each year.”
