Invasive iguanas are a massive problem in Florida, undermining houses and flood defences, spreading disease and even popping up in toilets. Charlie takes to the waterways with an army vet and a Fieldsports Nation member to hunt them with high-powered airguns. Back in the UK, the Seated Gun and his team take on the finest fen partridges with 20-bores and .410s. Cai Ap Bryn gets skewering to create a sumptuous spicy venison kebab tower. Plus much-loved countryman Sir Johnny Scott talks about Clarissa, the BBC, and his desire to keep fighting. David is on the news stump, and James Marchington has the best hunting videos on YouTube in Hunting YouTube. It’s all in this week’s #FieldsportsBritain

what were once pets are now pests I’m out with an air gun patrolling the waterways of Florida after iguanas I can unload a 30 round mag in a second or so back in the UK our seated gun takes on the challenge of a small Bard driven day we were chatting Wen we we weren’t concentrating were we no oh my goodness venis and Kebab Tower forget sausages and burgers get skewering thanks to Butchery equipment manufacturer ven Felder Kai cre creates a spicy feast and the country’s most famous Countryman Sir Johnny Scott talks BBC Clarissa and his desire to keep fighting at least we have the field sports channel which hoay which we didn’t have before County quality there David brings you the news on the news stump and James has the best YouTube hunting films in this week’s hunting YouTube Welcome to Field Sports [Music] brisen [Music] [Music] [Music] this is Jolly boating weather American style we’re out after iguana in a boat around the canals of Cape Coral uh which is a great big residential area built around lots of little waterways it’s it’s very desirable it’s very attractive and one of the things It suffers from is Iguanas so what are we using uh it’s a basic AR style it’s a rifle um 22 caliber compressed air PCP um AR style rifle I’m going to shoot it once just so you can hear the sound of it no kick no noise no no craziness that’s what you got in Florida there are no restrictions on air rifles um this one back here I’ll show you this one’s a little different so this one is actually uh made by hotson which is maybe more something you guys would have in the UK um this one is 25 caliber it shoots semi and full auto so I can unload a 30 round mag in a second or so um once again this is compressed air so there’s no no restriction on that I’ll I’ll give you a quick example on this one and soon as I get it ready so that one’s that one’s a little different Todd runs two veterans Outdoor Adventures which he set up originally in this part of Florida to take ex service people out hunting now he looks after all hunting tourists including me and Field Sports Nation member James Schneider who is American and spent much of his recent life in the UK I’ve always wanted to do it and of course you in town gives us just the perfect opportunity to go out and have a wonderful Adventure like that our first iguana is not a Big E it’s out catching the early Rays on a floating bin there’s still a lot of rubbish in the canals from the 2022 hurricane that ripped through this part of the Florida coast killing 150 people it’s a Miss he he wasn’t very big but he was just he was just one yeah first one any of them yeah the Size Doesn’t Matter we shoot them more you had the factors of the moving of the boat uh you’ve got the wind you’ve got a very small Target that’s moving in many cases we’re not Amar with the uh with the rifle the first area we shoot doesn’t yield much early morning Cloud means they haven’t come out to start sunning themselves Todd decides to move location which means loading the 16t skiff onto a trailer and taking it to a ramp into a different Canal we’ll we’ll find them here we’ll find them he’s right he takes us to see one he knows about he’s not allowed to shoot it and it’s a monster most of where we are shooting is in patches of rough scrub on unused PL plots on the waterfront we’re not allowed to shoot into the well tended Gardens on either side technically that’s on somebody’s property um and they asked us not to shoot them so the rule is it’s called trespassing by projectile so if I shoot from this state-owned canal and my projectile goes on somebody’s land that’s considered trespassing that’s how the rule that’s how they kind of keep you off a a private property then there’s an iguana we can shoot oh here’s a big one it drops out of sight and Todd goes in to collect it James has his first iguana challenge I’m having is that they blend so well with the uh the foliage that you pulling them out of there is difficult so but once you get on them and once you know what you’re looking for it’s uh always a good thing and we’re getting encouragement from the neighbors eat them yeah oh oh they’re dead they’re dead they’re most definitely dead they’re gone they’re in AIG Guana Heaven they will dig behind this uh these seaw walls here which then over time creates a lot of erosion which then damages the uh the foundations for these houses so when we showing up here now uh you know we we’re being cheered on by the local population which is you know it’s similar to when uh people fly over houses in Texas and helicopters with guns hanging out to go kill the pigs and everyone’s cheering them on so we’re having a similar experience now it’s very nice what did that lady in the highest behind you actually say to you uh this one this she said there’s form over there I hate those effers you know so so it’s fun fun to fun to help the community out so it’s it’s usually about 90 10 90% of the people around here um want us to get rid of them because of all the damage they do and then you got about 10% of people that either don’t know the damage they do or just don’t care the damage they do uh and honestly it’s it’s usually the the people that are renting around here that don’t don’t don’t care about them because they don’t have to pay for the damages they do they do like the the land owner or homeowner has to do that did it yeah we found him out sunning himself I was able to get on him quickly with that one but it started to jam up so I went back to the uh the standard um AR with Todd backing me up so once we had him on the run as you can see we put many many many pellets in him uh just a testament to to how strong and resilient these creatures are because he been hit at least six seven times seeing Florida from this angle is fascinating you get to explore the underbelly of Florida man who is such a cultural icon these days he features in the trailer for the new GTA video game you’ll have to Google that to find out what I mean and the wildlife watching opportunities are [Music] [Music] superb [Music] most of what we are here for is Iguanas and now we are getting into our [Music] [Music] stride [Music] ring neck doves are also an invasive species here finding a safe shot isn’t easy we end the day on 10 lizard s with five picked and the other five sunk without Trace yeah so it’s a little bit different especially for people that are not from around here um shooting in town um near houses uh it’s it’s perfectly legal as long as you’re not shooting onto someone else’s property as you seen we had a runin with the police department today someone called they came out thought it was great what we were doing took some pictures and left uh that’s how it is around here you know that we’re basically we’re helping the environment is all we’re doing and for me personally also it’s uh it’s important because I’m I’m learning about an entirely different scenario that I’m used to and it’s been it’s really really great to challenge yourself because I’m not a water person I’m not a boating person so you know I’m having to learn about that I’m not a freshwater Canal person doing things like you know like what we just did great experience though you know and and as much as I miss all of my UK sporting opportunities it’s it’s more of an evolution where I’m taking all of that experience and just continuing to evolve it you develop it in case you are wondering locals eat iguanas here more like frogs legs than chicken they’re good in tacos find Todd Williams at two veterans Outdoor Adventures it’s part of the captain experiences Network which provides all kinds of hunting and fishing mainly in Florida links below thanks Todd and James for that outing if you find yourself in Florida it’s definitely worth a go now in this week’s Field Sports extra we have a hunting tourist a Field Sports Live guest and a belted baronet you might recognize they bloody long way from Northumberland but more from Sir Johnny Scott later in field sports Britain also in field sports extra we’re giving away a custom shotgun bead set donated by EXs sites designed to increase it’s David on the field sports channel news stump this is Field Sports channel news a hunter has survived the ultimate Buffalo charge in an extraordinary clip released on the African Sun production Channel an angry buffalo charges through the bush having picked up one of the Hunters on its back at as it runs as the animal approaches it flips the hunter into the air giving one of his colleagues a Andy Shop sells air rifles and shotguns plus other Countryside kits the FCA is investigating de banking Basque says that a third of shooting club syndicates and trade organizations have experienced finally the famous lamb National was given the chop after animal rights activists said it was cruel now there’s been a u-turn organizers of the Barton Carnival in Lincolnshire said they’ve been forced to cancel the lamb race at their event in June they were accused of being animal abusers after some bleeding by the action groom Peta now they’ve had a change of heart and it’s been announced the race will go ahead it’s been a feature at Country shows all over Britain and was even run Ascot in front of King Charles when he was Prince of Wales the countryside Alliance say it’s a victory for common sense and apologies for all the lamb cliches but it’s bar for the course on F Field Sports channel you are now to date with Field Sports channel news Stu in the stories fishing for [Music] facts thank you David now next week is the mighty British shooting show at the NEC in Birmingham and there are already a lot of good reasons to go to it the organizers have given STS to more than a dozen constabulary Firearms licensing departments so you can meet them face to face and sort out your certificate issues Thomas Jax is bringing Engineers if you need help with your thermal or night vision and as well as the shops and Distributors you can find out about hunting and shooting education at this year’s show we’re talking about our Countryside Academy meanwhile Jackal medical is offering its Lantra approved range Medical course as well as talking about sight and Equipment assessments for venues and clubs next wear off shooting with JP God it’s a pheasant day with 20 balls and 4 T you know you’re somewhere special when breakfast is served in a yurt we’re at the balam shoot near Cambridge with JP Goda the seated gun it’s owned and run by the vesty family and our host today is Emily vesty people always just walk in especially when it’s got this wind cover on and their first reaction is oh my gosh wow so even if we’ve had a crummy day with the weather and everyone’s soaking wet we can always end up back here and it’s lovely and toasty and cozy and have nice food um a very nice end to the day regardless of what the weather has brought we would dub ourselves if you will a classic East anglian Partridge suit we have a lot of undulation here a lot of people think that this neck of the woods because we are quite close to the fence it’s dead flat but it’s actually quite hilly um really lends itself well dep Partridge shooting my favorite kind of shooting to watch more than anything you get the Lovely crosses you know you can really get in there it’s not well we do have some drives that have it it’s not all just High belt drives you know it’s really good sport in my opinion especially when you know on a wild woolly day you’re having the last day just before Christmas so we’ve just got a few of the guns out as he says as the birds start flying and uh the idea of today is it’s a very small day it’s a 150 bird day over six guns we’ve done it as a small board day today so everyone shooting either a 20 or a 410 or a 28 and all of the shells are elely El are very kindly uh sponsored us for the shells for today so uh it gives everyone a chance to have a go with some small BS and some different shells that maybe they haven’t used before luckily a couple of the kids are off school early and then we’ve got another young lady who’s never been on a shoot before so she’s here with her grandparents for the first time she’s been pestering them for ever in a day to come so they’ve dragged her along today so she can uh see what it’s all about and experience the day as her grandparents do yeah really nice little start I think uh everyone is having a baptism of fire I think they’re uh either loving or loathing 20 balls or 28 gauges or whichever they’ve uh been handed today you know making that jump from a 12 to a 20 is always a really difficult thing to do anyway but um you know what are we down with seven eight cartridges for three birds and that was selected the birds as well because you know we’re on a small day we don’t need to shoot everything it’s not about that everything’s going back into the food chain anyway which is what it’s all about so yeah I think a nice little start to the day on to drive two and JP’s neighboring gun Matt is on the end of the line with a young helper Harley acting as loader and retriever shooting 20 ball which is my first ever time shooting a 20 b so it’s been a bit of a baptism of fire I’ve got my little loader here he’s being fantastic and so is his brother so it’s you and your brother today isn’t it top team this is one of John’s guns it’s a Browning Ultra XS nice gun it’s got a bit of History his brother was a uh spent some time in jail so I was expecting to come out sa and off but yeah nice weather bit of wind hopefully we get some good birds today one bird but unfortunately just had a bad Peg but you win some or you lose some as I say next drive Harley is loading for JP who’s sticking with his 20y ball for now though he’s planning to give the 410 a go later so uh yeah uh Harley’s often loaded for me haven’t you um and he’s a he’s a great love great to get young blood into the sport as that’s what we’re all trying to do and uh pretty good aren’t you get on the 410 every now and again come pigeon shooting with me and your dad don’t you so yeah see what he’s like as a loader yeah [Music] good yeah I think the wind’s Playing Tricks on us today so we are facing the Sun as well and to be fair I was spending more time watching watching how everyone else was uh shooting and we were chatting weren’t we we weren’t concentrating were we no definitely not uh we are having a bit of a boys chat weren’t we yeah but yeah we took you know I think we took one yeah 20 balls 28 G five Zenith cartridge doing great jobs when that you know there’s nothing uh getting through that shouldn’t get through let’s put it like that it’s only getting through if we miss and we did miss a few on that one 410 next Drive what do you reckon 410 410 after a brief stop for 11’s JP swaps his 20y ball for the 410 so we got some little 12 and a half gram five shots some e four Longs what do you reckon do you reckon we can shoot anything with a 410 uh yeah yeah we shoot the pigeons with them don’t we yeah we’ll be all right we’re on the 410 today drive four here at balam we used the little 410 and what did we shoot we had a pheasant pheasant two Partridge three Partridge four Partridge four part you heard it from him himself absolutely great we’ve had a lovely lovely little time on this 410 so uh yeah really pleased with that it’s on to the final drive and Emily has kept the best until last JP switches back to the T4 Harley has deserted him so he’ll will be kept busy loading for himself on this [Music] one absolutely phenomenal dozen 15 birds off there at least you know the topography in East Anglia is not North Wale so you know we are at the bottom of a small you won even call it a valley it’s like the start of a hill and the the gradient of the hill is nothing compared to what you’re going to see in sort of Wales and Devon and Yorkshire but you know what some of the birds that have come off here today are just as good just as sporting and hand on Art I think it’s nice to have a variance of you know all the different types of shoots all the different parts of the country you know some are known for this some are known for that and that’s what it’s all about and then to top that with a small board day 20s 20 28 and 410s you know we just did the last drive with a 410 we did come back to the 20 now but on the last Drive which was uh you know again in a plowed field with trees in front of us about 80 yards away trees at about 25 30 m we still pulled down four four Partridge and a pheasant with a 410 with 12 G Nine shot you know I think it’s pretty obvious that you know you don’t need to be out there shooting 36 G threes at birds like this you can quite easily get away with a 12 g n as long as you put it in the right place and you know and in doing so have a great time doing it you can follow JP on Instagram and find the balam shoot on guns on pegs links below for details about elely Hawk cartridges including small BS go to El Hawk limited.com thanks JP for organizing that and to everyone who took part now thanks to all who came to last week’s field sports live in Cambridge show we had more than 50 in the room ay organized by Mark and Desi froget thanks to them we raised more more than2 200 for the gamekeepers welfare trust Basque had a stand local gun shop Simpsons Brothers had a stand and my chat show guests were Nicole Moore and the equally fragrant mark single Hurst from leester gun shop Veil Fielding game next Field Sports Live is at solal on Thursday the 15th of February and it comes with a sad story among the people who organized it is Howard orot a local hunting and shooting celebrity he would have been our host on Thursday but sadly he died two weeks ago at the good age of 92 too his family wants the show to go ahead as that’s what he wanted so I’m looking forward to seeing everyone who is Coming to ellswood Town Football Club on Thursday night 15th February 2024 and we can imagine Howard working the bar as he would have done link to tickets below now from one great man to another s Johnny Scott despite the bigotry and inurance of animal right activists and I’m not mentioning Mr packam we have generations of gamekeepers to thank for their V Vance in protecting the vulnerable from being swamped in a sea of adaptive predators in a small restaurant in the top corner of angle SE folk gather to raise money through donations and an auction for the gamekeepers welfare trust and the ngo’s educational trust a brand new still chainsaw hooray they have also come to hear guest speaker Sir Johnny Scott best known for his appearances on the BBC TV series Clarissa and the Countryman Field Sports Enthusiast and businessman David Sutter arranged the event with Steve mcgan a volunteer with the ngo’s educational trust Johnny speaks of his admiration for the trusts we are there to support and his concerns for the future he has some kind words to say about us the situation for all of us is very Grim but there are signs of a fight back at least we have the field sports channel where which aray which we didn’t have before there is a new Field Sports organization called hunting kind which has now worked up a legal case for minority protection of an ethnic Hunting Community and the outcome of that he’s looking very positive of course there has to be a Clarissa Dixon Wright anecdote and he doesn’t disappoint when Clarissa and I heard that um the ant had got around the BBC and they were going to they weren’t going to make any more programs we went and tried to argue our case we were tell that there was absolutely no way the antis had caused far too much trouble and El Claris was absolutely Furious and um that night we were we were due to present the prizes of the pery awards and she was still muttering and grumbling as we went in and I said here look wake up we’ve got to say something you realize and she said OE what are you going to say and I I said well it’s it’s about shooting and conservation so I said I’ll B A Bang on about that I she said well I’m sure that’ll be fascinating what about me what should I say and I said well why don’t you say something nice about the BBC and um so when we handed over the prizes I drowned on about shooting and conservation and said I would like to hand you over to my television partner Clarissa Dixon right who snatched the microphone from me when she was angry she used to inflict like a toad and um she kicked off by saying you’re gracious there are a few Dukes Your Grace is my lords ladies and gentlemen when it comes to shooting and conservation the BBC show about as much intelligence as three monkeys trying to football that that put an end to our career with the BBC the event raises more than a, P links to the GWT and the NGO below thanks sir Johnny and if you want to see the whole of that interview with Clarissa there is a link below next thanks to Butchery equipment manufacturer V Felder Kai makes venis and [Music] kebabs that looks like it’s for squirrels not for food yeah so we got this kind of useful contraption that does look like a squirrel trap but it’s not we’re doing a um kind of like Cofe kebabs with some venison pork and some of this kind of seasoning from W and Felder they sent this down just so it makes it easier for us at home so I’m going to give this a go and the first time I’ve used this box we’ve gone with 750 G of meat in total I’ve got 500 venison 250 g of pork so we’re just going to pop this dry mix in and you need to mix that with water I guess a little bit like if you’re doing stuffing or something like that going to mix it all together together until it’s fully absorbed keep folding it in on itself but you can see now the can cons that’s kind of the consistency that you want right so let’s put this thing together or a few different components in this magic box um so that one goes in first this this is what forms your um kebabs pack it all in trying to get all the air out as well so just pushing down on that so now we put kind of the bottom but in that plastic and this is where the uh sticks fall [Music] into like that going to turn the whole thing around now before you press down ta this is going to be exciting it does look like a magic trick doesn’t it it does you know impaling whereever whatever it is in there look at that oh my goodness that’s cool isn’t it that’s so cool oh make sure they don’t fall out now what i’ usually do is beforehand wet the sticks cuz that’s a very good tip it stops them kind of burning and let me just go get my scraper it’s just a wallpaper scraper but I love this little Contraption pretty good aren’t they that looks impressive yeah I think so too they formed really well I’ve got some compliments here to go with it so I’ve shredded some some lettuce these are onions that I normally do when I do these Kebab dishes they’ve got lemon juice olive oil and salt in it as well same as the Cabbage we’ll pop that in there like that and then we’ll grab a couple of Kebabs lons and tomatoes so I’ve got this Salu just it’s just mayonnaise garlic puree um lemon juice and a pinch of paprika really so we’re just going to lay it lay it on here first of all I’m going to try obviously I need to try the meat so let me just pull some of that off spices are coming through really nice spices it’s a really fun dish fun to make and Incredibly tasty so something different to do with your venison you know rather than the same old burgers and sausages and something else and also good for um good for kids as well it’s not too spicy for kids just a little hint there in the background yeah that is a winner thanks Kai and there’s a 15% discount on a range of products from velder with code FSK Keb a b50 at checkout details in the description below now from food to The Wider world of hunting and shooting I can see what their point is, if it is an invasive species. They obviously see iguanas, like we see the grey squirrels we have. Having said that, we don’t use high-powered machine guns to shoot them. Only in America. 😂
I must read Capstick essay about the auto air gun again , it’s one of his finest and funniest .
Ahh lol cow is back I see , and with number of vegans dropping in UK each year more and more , they become desperate
👍👍🦌🦌👍👍
Just a quick Note…Starmer is going to do a Blair . He's planning to Ban Swords. So your Wall Hanging and Hobbies are yet again going to be Attacked. Idris Elber is Sticking his 1p worth in aswell.
It sounds like your invasive grey squirrels could use the iguana treatment.
And they're good, fried up in a pan.
great show well done all
Wtf are banks playing at??? They have no right.
Re the tuna, yes, good that they can be legally caught, but other fishing sources are starting to think that the glut of tuna is starting to affect the catching of other species! Anybody else starting to hear that?
Great episode, I'll definitely be watching more of this.
Nice to see Charlie in my neck of the woods. I hope you enjoyed your trip to Florida. Did you eat the iguanas?
Outstanding reference to the BBC Intelligence…😈

Great show, I was particularly impressed with David's ventriloquist's skills at 31.26…even got the accent right!
