It’s the New York Yankees against the Baltimore Orioles in the middle game of a three game set from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx New York. Some darker clouds ahead today with a Richmond being placed on the aisle the first time in A’s career. He’s gone on the injured list. So the Orioles gonna have to get through a little more adversity. Clark Schmidt overall with a 3.16 a and this will be his 12th start. He’s really starting to round into form. He started the season off on the il with a shoulder strain. So two straight walks by Schmidt and the Orioles have runners on 1st and 2nd and 1 out and Henderson’s got to face Lionel Hearn who’s the ninth leading hitter in the American League ninth and on base percentage as well. Strike three big strikeout. O Hearn down looking. Yeah, really good knuckle curveball. Here he starts at the top of the zone and kind of drops in about waist time and it’s an outstanding pitch. So that brings up Orano popped up Chisholm on the outfield grass, puts it away and that will do it. Schmidt pitches out of two out two on jam Zack Eflin hoping for a little bounce back after a tough start at Tampa apparently had trouble with the humidity gripping the ball. He’s a command guy, not a hard thrower, strike thrower. Here we go with Ben Rice going to lead things off here against Zack Eflin and Rice gets under a ball into shallow right of center Cedric Mullins cuts in front of ramon Lorean for the out career two for 13 against Eflin left 10 hitter centerfield doing a great job in center field right field, Floriano back leaps home run for Grisham just over the leaping try of Liano and the Yankees lead one nothing for Gris home run. He didn’t miss that by now and now he’s looking to see how much he missed. He can, he can get it out there , but it’s just a little too high for him. Grisham has worked so hard on getting his stroke back. It starting to come back. He thought about third but he’ll stay there at second throw comes to third gets Jazz Chisholm up to the plate and Chisholm takes a called third strike, a two seamer right there. He throws it exactly where the glove is and he gets a much needed strikeout two out one run in Jason Dominguez and another called strike three with a two seamer. So fly gives up the home run and Then strands a pair with a couple of backwards games leading off for the Orioles Colton Kaler swing and a miss got him on a sinker two down there. Cedric Mullins strike three. Mullins down looking second strike out of the inning, third in the ball game. He’s got a one nothing lead. I’ll send JC Ear the former Orioles minor leaguer up there. ESCA hits one deep to right field. Rollo turns a home run into the second deck. His second home run of the year. A two nothing Yankee lead a hanger and he knew exactly what to do with it and he knew it right when he hit it. It’s this ball a long way. That’s a homer anywhere Michael. And this story keeps continuing. He’s a heck of a catcher and has some big hits. He had a couple of really big ones good for him. We got a parade working here and Kobe Mayo pinch hits for Westbury in a 3 to 0 game here in the third. Westbrook left the game for what they’re calling left hand discomfort. The Orioles have already placed 21 players on the injured list at some point this season. They currently have 10 on the IL and we’ll just hope that Jordan Westbrook doesn’t join them as he is removed from this game. Two out, nobody on his first pitch and may have swings and drives one right center field. Graham cruising at Bellinger, cruising over again and he makes the catch and that will do it, boy. Nice quick inning. And it’s 3678 retired in a row by Clark smith Chisholm took a called third strike. His first time base hit for Chisholm just out of the reach of the diving Henderson and went right by the bill of the cap of the pitcher. And the rookie Jason dominguez will bat ground ball and through for a base hit, Henderson was going to cover second base and that ground ball went through the vacated hole 1st and 3rd and nobody out of base hit for dominguez runners at the corners. Nobody out for Anthony Dribbles one slowly to third base and he , he was zero for 25. He picks up a slow rolling single to left. And in his mind, that was a line drive in the box score. That’s a rocket and it allows you to relax. It’s a major trouble right now. They’re loaded for JC ESCA who Homers last time up five ball center field Chisholm tags. It’s not deep. Mullins makes the catch. Here’s the throw and knocked down by Gary sanchez and that allows the runners to move up a sack fly for a scorer and E Mullins and the Yankees lead 40 and now runners at 2nd and 3rd with one out. That one is looped over the draw in an infield that ducks in for a base hit. Dominguez scores here comes Volpi, he’ll score. It’s a two run single for Pera and the Yankees lead 60, two big base hits in this inning. Not hit very hard. The one by Anthony Volpe and this is a reach and just kind of touched me and all of a sudden you put up that crooked number and it makes you feel a lot better about your day so far. What a pretty swing from Anthony Volpe. He broke the slump with a little dribbler to third base, but he hits a rocket of a line drive to right field to me. That is a great sign. Good for him. Here’s JC era hit sharply and off the glove of holiday and in the right deal hit so hard and handcuffed him. We’ll see how they score that is scarrow. That’s got to be a base, but it’s hit it hard. This just continues a run of outstanding pitching performances by Schmidt, you know, under two, A, in his last three starts, he’s been outstanding scoreless streak of 24 and a third innings and that’s a career high high fly ball, left field dominguez you could sense the crowds getting into it as they really cheered for more than just an out in the seventh inning. What’s happening? Ok. He might be getting near the end. We’ll see how far they go with it now. And is Luke to Chisholm two outs. Saturday afternoon, 10th, sell out of the year here at Yankee Stadium. 46,142 watching Clark Smith six and two thirds without allowing a hit. I think he went, like, I mean, I don’t think it’s egregious but I think he went, I think Brew Baker said I saw it too and they missed the call and he gets a base hit and there’s a first hit for the Orioles and the crowd boos. It’s not always been easy being a manager. A lot of days it’s really difficult and on a day it should be really easy for aaron Boone. You’re up nine to nothing. You have this big decision to make and it will be talked about a lot. He did what he thought was best for Clark smith. He helped his team and I respect that one out to go. That Dillon Carlson is gonna pinch hit for Loreal 11 chop torque first charging ICARA and that’ll do it. A combined one hitter. Yankee offense comes alive. Clark Smith was brilliant.
