i miss having weekdays off. nothing better than a stress free, 2 hour long round trip
Percent82
It’s an exhilarating feeling to be the first one on the course. It’s so satisfying to see your putt line being the only one when it rolls on that morning dew.
BigDuckEnergy33
It is my favorite way to play. I like being the first person out and not seeing another soul the whole round.
I can take my time reading putts and planning shots, and still be home before the family gets out of bed.

How early is early?
LikelySatanist
Absolutely no one here, we prefer slow 6 hour rounds

Back when I was in my 20s, I worked at one of my local courses part time for a few summers. One of my favorite things in the world was teeing off at like 7-7:30am, playing 18, running home to shower, and coming back to clock in by 11 for my shift.
There was always something so incredibly peaceful about being out on the course that early before all the old-timers had their tee times. Even if I was playing miserably, those rounds were some of the most enjoyable rounds I ever played.
Phobia117
The good: No one in front of you, lower temps (only good for summer), get done early and get all your doings around home done
The bad: Run a high risk of catching the maintenance crew, run the risk of getting ganked by the sprinkler system, extra cleaning necessary (wet grass sticks to everything)
BeastMortos
I’m a last out kinda guy . Fucking work
MathBallThunder
My local course has a first out early bird special. If you tee off from 5:30-630am on any weekday it’s $20 with a cart. Some of the best, most peaceful solo rounds ever!
pandasteely
Honestly being first out as a solo stresses me out a little lol. I feel like I have to play FAST and forget to relax and enjoy what I’m doing. It makes no sense cause I’m going to be done in two hours even if I just chill and play but my mind doesn’t accept that. It’s only as a solo though if I’m with a group it’s great.
Being one of if not the last person out is great tho. Like late enough you know you won’t finish but you can take some time to hit some shots I don’t get to practice like bunker shots or weird uphill/downhill lies or on the sides of hills.
EvziJnr
I prefer 1st tee nerves with everyone watching, after I’ve waited 25 mins for the 1st 2 groups to clear a 300m Radius just in case i hit one! Which doesn’t happen.
SpezMechman
Only way to truly play a course.
nbanbury
Love it. Also love being last out, that’s such a pleasure.
middleimpact445
Nothing like it. There’s a course in rural Illinois that has its first tee time at 7 am on the weekend. I regularly show up before the manager even gets there to open up (she always shows up at 7). I get to play at my own pace every time I’m there. Only downside is the course is usually wet as hell from the dew, so putts run slow, shoes get wet, and the ball is constantly muddy.
Alex29992
It’s been 85 degrees here in New York and I’m out of work at 130, haven’t seen a soul for 4 days and I’m in heaven
SeattleBrother75
Love early rounds. Fresh cut grass and new pin placements… yes please
mattosgood
I don’t get out golfing nearly as much as I’d like (three kids who are expensive and needy), but I was the first out on a Vermont course in a beautiful morning, alone. Stuck one on a par three like seven inches from the cup. Like Gordie and the deer in Stand By Me, it was something I kept to myself for a while because, well, who cares about something cool no one saw?
SonsChild
The best feeling is getting done with a early round of 18 and making your way back to the clubhouse and seeing how full the parking the parking lot is and knowing you have the rest of the day to yourself. And you don’t have to deal with that bs.
TheGreatOpoponax
It’s almost the only way I’ll play anymore.
I can go on and on about rude assholes and 5+ hour rounds, but that will NEVER change, so the solution is to get the first tee time available and arrive at the ass-crack of dawn.
Once in a while when it’s 95+ degrees and a weekday I’ll call late in the day and ask if the course is crowded. More often than not it isn’t, so I’ll go out then too.

I go out at 6:30 every Saturday and Sunday.. I love it it’s my happy place.. golfing just me and my thoughts a little dew in the surface.. it’s my serenity. Usually done around 8:30-9 and I still have all day to spend with the wife and kiddos.

If you’re not first you’re last
maxx_cherry
I love this.
Jengalover
Keep an eye on green speed, and they will get faster as they dry out. Other than that, my absolute favorite.
proscriptus
I usually try to take the last round of the day so I’m not holding anyone up.
Lakkapaalainen
6:30 is the best time to tee off.
AndyM22
At our local course we are always first off at 7am on Saturday and Sunday. Book 14 days out thanks to membership. Even as a foursome we are home before 11. It’s spoiled me to where I don’t have patience for playing behind slow players any more
Primary_Breadfruit91
I was out myself as a single once. I played terrible. I walked, and found at my normal pace I was semi-winded when hitting the ball. I couldn’t make myself slow down.
NoviceAxeMan
used to love my tranquility with teeing off at 445pm and seeing maybe 2 groups but now it’s just 5-somes and drunk guys shooting 128 taking 8 mulligans a hole so i guess im going to try out early tee times

Morning golf is the best golf. Cheers
Still-Entertainer99
I built custom clubs in Scottsdale for years, best perk was all the free golf at all the top courses….And we’d usually be the firsts ones out to beat that heat….miss those days, haven’t swung a club in years. Even had a 3some with Billy Mayfair (no homo).

One of my favorite magazine ads from the 90s (I think) is the Mastercard ad that shows a guy teeing off in a light early morning fog:
Titanium driver: $300
First cup of coffee: $2
Second cup of coffee: $2
First to break the silence: Priceless
Impossible_Bar3958
Always, as long as they don’t start people on the other 9 mid-morning. 🙄
Burnwell1099
Played first tee time once last year and forgot my golf shoes. First hole I’m soending 5min trying to find my drive in the rough in my sneakers. Feet were wet by hole 2. Thankfully had extra socks in my bag and changed them a few holes later. They were wet by the end of the round too. Wouldn’t recommend wet feet round. Lol
PimpGameShane
I’ve carded my best rounds playing all alone. I love it.
fidelkastro
I was first off and had a cart. 18 holes in 2.5hrs
MrWinklevoss
I love it. I try and play 2 mornings a week with the earliest tee time. I finish 18 in about 3hrs
Horsecockexpress1
Pace setters unite. Only way to play

Way too early to function. You’ll shoot less and be rushed. It’s too cold too

Never thought I’d see my local course on here…

If I’m teeing off after 8 my day is shot
ReedDickless
Love it. Take is the sounds of early morning golf.

Generally the early tee-timers play FAST in my experience, so even if you’re not first out it’s ridiculously enjoyable. Coming into work at 9am after having played nine holes is much more tolerable.
Simplesquare87
I feel this and it’s the greatest feeling ever. I work second shift and don’t have to go in until 1:30pm. Love getting in a round on a random Tuesday before work
nikolgphotos
Hahaha is this blue rock springs west??
fauxfarmer17
Best time to go out. Only issue is sometimes as a single you can be too fast and end up following the grounds crew as they mow greens and change hole locations. First out on a Sunday morning is the absolute best.
