today we are comparing the Ping G440 against the Callaway Elite iron two irons sat in this sort of cavity back type of golf club looking at your sort of mid to high handicapper and it’s really looking at forgiveness and distance okay so typically you’re looking for someone that wants a little bit of help probably want a bit of yardage these golf clubs in the Ping and Callaway range uh respectively um is what you want you’re going to be looking at okay so first thing you know in terms of looks I think they both look great you know I really do i think Ping have done a great job in recent years improving the aesthetics i do think that 440 looks really good but I think the Callaway probably edges it in terms of looks looks really premium uh really nice from behind and in that sort of playing position looks great if anything the Callaway looks a little bit small you know if this is sitting in a cavity back range it looks a little bit small certainly that footprint looks a little bit small from kind of heel to toe the Ping actually that kind of thinner top line they are aiming to almost get like a player’s look to it if you like uh but it has got again a good footprint um should be nice and easy to hit uh remember Ping have got that G730 as well okay so something that’s even more forgiving so we’re looking at two clubs here at 29° so they are strong lofted golf clubs uh they will go further than my average seven iron but let’s hit a few today so let’s get a feel talk a little bit about the tech which one I would recommend out of these two so starting with this G440 as I said looks I think do look really nice looks nice and premium they’ve gone for this kind of more players look it’s certainly that thinner top line um they’ve introduced a new Pure Flex badge trying to get a bit more speed whilst retaining sound and feel as well okay so let’s hit a few shots let’s see how it performs in that playing position i think it looks great looks nice and easy to hit but not too chunky little bit off the bottom but still get it out there you know nice and straight again you clearly want you know you want forgiveness in this type of golf club don’t we that felt good you can almost hear that can’t you little bit louder uh spins a touch low but again you would expect that with this loft so it doesn’t surprise me that it’s just under 5,000 still getting that stopping power at 10 yards 177 for 187 which is good it felt nice yeah feels nice and solid you know terms of handicap range you know I really think you’re probably looking at maybe a 10 10 to 20 handicap i think it’s probably a fair range in this uh type of golf club again just a touch off the bottom dropped a little bit that hasn’t it probably dropped 20 yards off my best one in terms of carry which is quite a lot to be honest felt good yeah in terms of ball speed it’s not the quickest that I’ve tried um in this category um I don’t think Pinger are aiming to to be the number one in terms of ball speed i think they’re trying to just blend that that kind of looks they obviously want the forgiveness but it’s not an absolute bombers golf club yeah and distance is you know it’s not it’s not massive it’s straight it feels good ball speeds as I say is pretty pretty average really for this type of of club but it is going nice and straight which is the key thing okay we’ll just try one more that was probably the best hit there at 172 so nice like the look of it like the feel of it is it the longest probably not the oneoff center hit dropped about 20 yards it was quite bottomy uh but I think it’s a Ping have done a solid job we know with Ping they only make small changes every year don’t they so I think if you’re a a Ping player you’d have every confidence that it they’re going to do a very good job for you but by that by no stretch are they super long okay you might you may or may not want that okay so into this Callaway Elite Iron before we get into that if you would like a free swing analysis simply follow me on Skillst the link is in the description down below you will get a full analysis of your swing along with me demonstrating exactly what you need to work on including some drills to help you reach your goals this year back to the video callaway Elite Iron looks wise looks great you know looks really really nice really premium yeah very excited to hit this callaway have introduced this new speed frame in there all about connecting the body to the top line so trying to sort of help increase with ball speeds and retaining sort of feel as well so almost similar tech in a way to that to that badge just kind of a different kind of spin on it but similar sort of story so let’s let’s hit a few shots with this Elite as I said earlier it just looks a slightly smaller footprint down at the golf ball with this head compared to the Ping that felt great that felt really solid yeah I like that just maybe just a touch heavy but pretty good again they’ve introduced a newer sole trile um and that’s all around trying to improve turf interaction we are seeing brands kind of do this it’s really about shaving off the leading edge and the trailing edge just to help you glide through the turf a little bit easier so quite a nice little feature from a a strike point of view should help you hit into the ground nice and easy that felt nice again yeah it feels quite forgiving despite that kind of smaller appearance feels nice and solid nice and easy to hit yeah pretty solid and the big thing really the big story is this 10x smart face so Callaway are saying there’s 10 times more control points than the previous smart face so yeah super forgiving many more control points to help with forgiveness and distance yeah I felt solid again yeah really like that yeah it looks good feels good seems to be producing the goods the only thing is you know it does feel ever so slightly small bit heavy on that one still not too bad and Callaway’s big talking point really they’re talking about a tighter downrange dispersion so that front to back dispersion if you’re somebody that has a big drop off with your striking then they are saying that this iron is perfect for you yeah decent solid again you know in these tests it is only my honest opinion and there’s also that human element isn’t there you almost feel like I’m hitting this one a bit better and it’s always difficult to determine is it the club is it me is it a bit of both but I definitely feel like I’m hitting this one a bit better but interesting to see the numbers at the end yeah 122 definitely felt like I hit the Callaway better okay let’s take a look at the numbers so starting with the dispersion um interestingly enough the ping circle is smaller um I actually felt like the Callaway was going to be but the ping circle is definitely smaller we can see those white dots tighter together callaway a little bit more spread out h but let’s let’s get a deeper dive into the numbers so looking at the numbers here club speed quite similar a mile an hour quicker with the Elite ball speed a little bit more with the Callaway 116.8 with the Ping 118.3 with the Callaway launch angle similar as we’d probably expect wouldn’t we with the the similar loft overall height similar quite a bit lower spin um with with the Callaway that’s something we need to be mindful of if you’re somebody who hits the ball low anyway and it’s going to come out with low spin you need to be careful of that because that spin at 5,200 might be better with the ping in terms of the car the carrying the total well Callaway seems to earn a bit further so 173 for 184 167 for 176 so six yards carry more at 8 yards total more and then the side is crucial for me plus or minus 22 feet with the Callaway plus or minus 16 feet with the Ping so Ping is definitely that bit tighter um in terms of that front to back if we look in that total column uh we’ve got plus or minus 5.7 yards with the Callaway plus or minus 5.5 yards with the Ping so just to summarize guys um quite surprised actually because in terms of looks I like the Callaway i almost felt like I hit the Callaway better but if you’re looking for dispersion the ping is better if you’re looking for distance Callaway is 8 yards longer but remember the spin is a little bit low so you need to be mindful of that if this is your first time watching the channel guys please don’t hesitate to subscribe and I look forward to seeing you again very
