Jon Rahm Says Oakmont Members Must Have An ‘Impossible’ Time On Course | US Open

i actually yeah I met with a member at a function yesterday and I was asking him do you play Oakmont every single day like it’s just like when you go do you even try to shoot a score like you just go to play and have fun or are you counting them every day cuz I feel like like when they when they set it up hard and if they set up like if they have a superintendent’s revenge here I don’t know what the average score must be cuz I think 90% of the field doesn’t finish because it’s just it could be absolutely impossible so um but all jokes aside yeah of course I want to be a member here yeah it’s a beautiful golf course and and very historic all right all right

Jon Rahm didn’t hold back ahead of the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont, admitting that he’s fully aware of the perception surrounding LIV Golf. In a refreshingly honest moment, Rahm said “I’m a realist”, and acknowledged that he likely wouldn’t have as many top-10 finishes if LIV had stronger fields every week.

▶️ Watch Rahm discuss his move to LIV, the quality of competition, and his mindset heading into one of the toughest tests in golf at Oakmont.

  1. I wouldn’t play oakmont every day even if I was a member!!! I wouldn’t wanna spend time looking for balls all day!! I bet money the average time for a round there is about 5 hours maybe 5.5? Where the average round takes about four hours or so

  2. oakmontcc what JOKE.. rippped out every single tree .. airport runways..
    so stupid. what's the point
Nvr never was like this in 62 73 Jack Johnny day Occ Usga Nbc
    ALL SUCKK !!
    omg smfh

  3. Day in day out, the Members see & play what slapped these guys. Nothing is hidden. There's no water. And now they've Cut every tree !!
    Best golf course in America.

  4. Oakmont members don't all have 185 ball speed but many can and do hit more fairways than these guys did. They understand the golf course and how to play it. If you insist on bomb and gouge you'll have the experience these guys did. These new players cannot imagine a time when professionals had supreme control of their golf ball. They are all long now but otherwise they are inferior to past champions due to the ball equipment and emphasis only on speed.

  5. This comment by Ryan might be single handedly the most asinine thing I have ever read on YouTube. Ryan – the prize goes to you kind sir. That members ‘understand the golf course and how to play it’ better than the pros is wildly dumb. The pros are far straighter and longer than the members here

  6. The rough is shorter, the course is shorter, the greens are cut higher making them slower…. The entire course is set up completely different for the members…. The only thing that’s is the same at that course for the members and the USGA open is the hotdog in the clubhouse

  7. Bunch of cry babies, actually, these pros are. They ALL played on the same course yet they spent more time complaining about the course rather than trying to shoot their best.

  8. The only meaningful score for Oakmont members is the number of lost balls on a full round. That is, if you made sure to bring along enough balls to finish the course. Which will likely be quite a few.

  9. By this short video of John Rahm, I respect his opinion from a player's point of view but at the same time you can sure tell he's not a superintendent.

  10. I played in the 69 US Amateur at Oakmont and the course was very tough but beautiful and fun to play. It doesn’t resemble the current Oakmont. Removed the trees and replaced fairways with linoleum.

  11. There is not a chance that the rough is gonna be that deep for members to play, it might be an inch or two but nothing like they had at the US open. They can mow it to any height they like.
