How to BUILD a Golf Simulator under £5000! #guide

today I’m going to build the perfect home simulator for under £5,000 and I’m going to show you how you can too we’re going to be shopping using the Golf Swing Systems website of course we’re here at Golf Swing Systems HQ and we’re going to walk through how you can build a home setup that’s perfect for a budget under five grand right i understand I’ve got a budget of five grand and you’re going to set me some rules so what are the rules I got to play by so it’s all got to be used for a indoor simulator everything’s got to be within the budget and the user can get going as soon as they have all the items now one thing I want to say I’m going to use the word cheap quite a lot in this video but 5 grand is a lot of money to spend so if you want to get going for a little bit less then you can go for a little bundle with a net and a launch monitor something just to get you going cuz 5 grand is a lot of money now we’re going to start with the launch monitor now there’s a few options of launch monitors you can go for under five grand it’s sort of getting something into that level so if we go into golf simulators on the the web shop here and let’s go from low to high cuz none of these more expensive ones are going to be in the budget right now okay so starting in here so you’ve got obviously the R10 it’s one of the classics it came out a few years ago and took the simulator world by storm basically £429 on offer from G at the moment could be a good option but I think we can do a little bit better for that kind of price so there you go the MLM2 Pro now the MLM 2 if you’ve got enough space for it is pretty much it’s awesome you get ball data you get courses great app they have a really good video camera on board so that’s definitely an option they come with 15 of their tracking balls as well now so £679 let’s have a quick look through you got Square Golf there that’s very very good oh and the SkyRack launch monitor so that’s coming in under £1,000 now we’ve got five grand to to spend if we were spending about three grand I might well go for the Square or the Rapodo but I think today we’re going to start with the SkyRack launch monitor i’m going to tell you why now the reason I’m going with the SkyRack over maybe the Square Golf or the Rap Sodo those two units are much newer they definitely got more of an iPad focus but the reason I’m going for the SkyRack is it was originally two grand and until very recently it was well over £1,000 so this has been brought down because of the advent of the SkyRack Plus which has a little bit more data to it but what you get with the SkyRack is you get access to the SkyRack software which has been developed for like I mean non 10 years now so it’s very stable you know it’s always going to work you just turn this on and you’re good to go and you can now get access to their courses they’ve got courses that were built with Trackman Foresight and themselves as well so you’ve got a an access to an even better level of course simulator than maybe you’d get from Rapod or Square Golf so starting off Sky Tracks that’s 975 of our budget gone so take off £975 from 5 grand let’s leave that there to remind me what we’ve gone with now guys we’ve had a bit of a debate here can we fit a PC into the setup now I’m going to say no because if we put a SkyRack spec PC that can run everything in 4K you’re going to be looking at about 2 grand but SkyRack have a very very good app which you can download from the app store on you know an iPad or you know Samsung tablet anything like that you can download the SkyRack app and still play all of the courses and everything that you could do on the computer you can do through the iPad so I’m going to say we’re going to run this with an iPad so we’re on the Apple website here looking at a brand new iPad i was going to go for a secondhand one but I think we can fit a brand new one in so I’m just popping it through here looks like it’s going to cost me about £800 so I’m going to go through there add that to the b uh basket so let’s take £800 off our budget now one more thing I need to put in and I know I’ll get some comments if I don’t is you’ve got to have an HDMI to USBC converter for the iPad so if you want to hook it up to a projector grab one i’ve got one here on Apple for 50 quid you can get them cheaper on Amazon though right guys next up for your home simulator under five grand we need to get something to project into so an enclosure that’s what basically is sat behind me maybe not going to be able to go for something this big and this custom but if we go with a Sim space setup then I reckon we can get something really really good so let’s go into our enclosures go to sim space let’s have a look at what we can get here so it’s a HD screen so you get all your nice graphics and you can get sizes to suit your room but let’s say we’re building this in a single garage something like that so 3 m by 2.5x 1.5 is about,350 quid i reckon it’s the best value for money on the market for an enclosure so 1350 quid off of the budget we’ve got £1,850 to spend we’ve got you know our 5 grand budget is running out but that’s okay so I’m going to get us back on track with a really really good quality hitting mat that’s very very cheap for what it is in my opinion so I’m going to go into the Golf Academy teaching mat which is a very standard range mat that you’d find at a premium range it’s got some crosses on it so you can work out your alignment and also it’ll help you align your SkyRack and I’m going to go with the new white one there so let’s pop that in £219 off the budget now you could spend far more on a mat going with like a T- turf mat or a true strike but for five grand I reckon the T2 mat’s going to do you just fine it’s going to protect your joints because it’s got some padding to it and it’s got that alignment aid as well so it’s going to help you get better at golf for the projector we’ve got about 1600 left to spend and I’m going to go with one of our entry- level projectors that we put into one of our custom sims actually so it’s a Panasonic PT VMZ 51 now it’s a 5,200 lumen laser projector so you’re going to get a really bright picture and the best thing about it is it’s super adjustable which means I can put it pretty much anywhere in the room and I’m going to be able to corner fit it to fit the screen now that will come in somewhere between about 1,300 and 1,500 quid depending on the time of year whether or not there’s supplier discounts and stuff like that so yeah take up let’s say on there let’s say 1,500 quid so we left ourselves about £100 left to spend and I’m going to spend that last £100 on a little bit of astroturf grass basically I’m not actually going to get it from GSS i’m going to get it from somewhere like BQ or somewhere like that uh cuz it will be a little bit cheaper than putting turf going for for putting turf at this kind of price is a little bit uh maybe a bit shortsighted so I’m going to go with There you go buy artificial grass grass 247 let’s just go with some artificial grass five pound a square meter so let’s go with their cheapest one and fill the enclosure so that’s 3x 2 3x 1.5 let’s say we got 3×2 so six artificial meters that’s going to be about 2530 quid that is a simulator built for under £5,000 you’ve got everything you need to start playing indoor golf there all you’ll have to supply is a functioning golf swing and some golf clubs now let’s run down what we’ve got in the setup so we’re running a Skyrack launch monitor the original one it’s currently on offer at £975 we’re buying a brand new iPad Air to run that so that’s about £800 quid there we’ve then got the 3 m by 1.5×2.5 SIM space which will cost us £1,350 so that’s getting on to just over £3,000 there we’re going to put in a Golf Academy teaching mat so that’s another 220 and then we’re going to whack on a Panasonic PT VMZ laser projector and a little bit of artificial grass from sort of a run-of-the-mill grass supplier and that’s going to come out just under £5,000 so if you want us to build another simulator for a different budget give you our opinions on how you can best do that leave a comment below with which budget we should do next i think the next one we should maybe go a little bit fancier go something like 20 grand or 10 grand but if you’ve got a different idea let us know in the comments and we’ll be make sure to make that video very very soon now guys as you’ve watched the YouTube video if you’ve made it this far we have this exact setup for sale on the Gold Swing Systems website it’s an exclusive product for the YouTube followers because you can’t see it unless you’ve got the link so if you follow the link in the description and you want to get going for a 5 grand budget go there and we’ll set everything up for you you’ll have it all within about a week so you’ll be playing indoor golf before you know it
