FARGO — It was quite the athletic career for Grand Forks Red River’s Sophie Brakke, who capped it by being named North Dakota’s Ms. Golf by the Dakota Junior Golf Association.

In the Twin Cities, Abby Swenson saw a need to combine women and golf with a social club atmosphere, so she started Northern Greens Golf Collective, which in part helps women get involved in the sport.

One of the most popular charity golf tournaments in the area is The Schwetty, which once again is sold out at Meadows Golf Course in Moorhead. All of this on 740 The Fan.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
