Review of Enniscrone (the Dunes) links golf course, county Sligo, Republic of Ireland
[Music] all right here we are at inis cron first team over here that’s where those Lads are I think I’m going to hit the driving range hopefully they’ll give us free ball what else we got we got golf carts here better looks of it probably don’t require caddies I don’t think this will be as fancy as what we’ve seen let’s go inside and check I think so H grab my grab my camera oh I got in my hand this is the restaurant bar get a little beer [Music] after so they have two courses I think one’s at 18 one’s at nine maybe they’ve got two 18s so you have to sort of pay attention to it course handicap chart that’s number one it’s kind of nice they give you a little practice putting while you’re waiting for your tea time I think we’ll be Hing from [Music] [Applause] the [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] all right from the ground this is your view we’re looking at the chipping area here they got a couple helip pads I guess certain people they don’t like to drive I think where those flags are and so looks this looks a little bit like your ordinary kind of lynx course where it’s sort of majorly flat I mean I think that’s the deal with l hinch l hinch gets you deep into the dunes so we we’ll see so this must be the other one the scrore I’m assuming that’s number one I got a little chipping over here where the flags are so we’ll take that option and that looks like number 10 so we’re not sure what’s what here all right yeah no it’s just the looking hole this is number one this is our drives we’re all about the same we’re all about the same distance I got a funny looking ball orange yet it’s me both Titan too one you one well but I got all funny marks on my ball there number one got a six on it it’s number one cross over we picked up two two locals which is helpful without a doubt just to know what’s happening with the course I mean they do have caddies for higher here it’s a lovely course right by the ocean now you’re into the dunes these are some thick thick Dunes kind of like belly bunion this is number two you’re going in between those two Dunes I mean this is how the SC is you’re already shooting in the dark it was imperative to go with a couple locals this is up there between one of the pretti did you play Yesterday K Mara well if you can’t find your ball you know they got mad at usway is pretty Scorch we all kicked out here there it is here okay this is hole number three I got a double bogey a birdie and then a par on the par three so this is hole number four that we’re on man I’m beginning to like this course either I’m smartening up a little bit let’s take a look and see what this place looks like from well definitely gives you an overview here’s your course man just in case it’s too windy for a drone say this is not a bad course it’s kind of like dramatic like valy bunion uh the European Club not bad I mean there’s another Beach it’s basically this thing sits on a peninsula Raymond shck is this number 10 hole n number nine is this number 10 n or 10 this is the river Moy M moai it’s beautiful little environment have to admit I guess Faldo bought that Island in front of the windmills and he’s going to build a golf course on it never happen this is number nine got a five I think this number 10 actually right this is number 12 look at that so it goes up over the hill where those guys are standing and then it’s a elevated green so there’s like a big old Valley down below and then the green is going to be up on top what hole was this 11 12 12 12 this is whole 12 oh boy I was aiming for the pin I didn’t realize it was a big old drop off so the idea is that you get down the hill oh boy that’s a nice looking kind of a hidden hole okay these boys both hit longer and uh so maybe it’s not so bad to be where I’m at I just have to hit the distance hit the back of that hill and I’m going to be just fine this is cool nice overview the course the 14th T you’re going to pass the F so be careful I thought it look the same we just played that yeah without a doubt the holes that are in these Dunes are far more interesting they’re quite quite challenging to say the least I mean look at this I guess Shane Lowry was asked what was his favorite least known course and he said this course so which is kind of interesting for the last two holes I think I’m tired ran out of water and I got a double on that part [Music] five [Music] [Music]
If you’re looking for a great lesser know golf course in Ireland then this will thrill you. Even Ireland’s own Shane Lowry when asked about a great lesser know golf course in Ireland this was his pick. This is a 18 hole, par 73, links style course. This course is surrounded by the river Moy on 1 side and the Atlantic on the other. So we have some pretty dramatic interactions with the dunes
On the same 400 acres is the 9 hole Scurmore golf course.

Wow, what a treat to see this!
I was a member of Enniscrone GC for a number of years back in the early 2000's as I had a small holiday cottage around 5k away.
Being a high handicapper who started golf later in life I found it a beast of a course but also magical in a way and it will always be my favorite course. I spent many happy days in the wind and rain alone on the course, hacking my way out of those deep valleys, but when I did manage to find the fairway I felt like an open champion.
Unfortunately I don't think you show the par three 8th, where I got my one and only 'hole in one' in a club competition.
Still it was lovely to see the old girl again and although I haven't played golf for years now (some would argue I never did!) it would be lovely to play a round one more time in the wind and rain when nobody else is out.
Maybe I will after watching this?? Thank you so much for uploading 😊
