BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. — The Timber Banks Golf Course is set to host the NFL Alumni Charity Golf Classic at the end of the month, offering participants a chance to play golf alongside celebrities while supporting a worthy cause.
Last year’s event raised over $10,000 for local non-profits, and this year, the proceeds will benefit David’s Refuge, an organization that provides resources and support to parents and guardians of children who need extra help.
Leroy Collins, president of the Upstate NFL Alumni Chapter, emphasized the unique nature of the event.
“It’s a fun golf you get a chance to really play golf but on each hole There’s a certain special each hole,” said Collins. “So we’ll have like it’ll be you know the regular try to win a car It’ll be close to the pin, but they also have music we’ll have you know the Some special stuff so I don’t want to give it all away.”
The inaugural event last year welcomed former NFL stars and included galas and dinners, which Collins noted were successful in giving back to the community.
“We did a little gala and dinners and little things that were able to give back to the community, but I know that the golf tournaments were very lucrative. They were events that could really help,” he said.
Collins, who has been honing his golf skills, expressed excitement for the upcoming tournament.
“This year I’ve been practicing I’ve been working on my my short game is really good I had to work on my long game and I and actually just um and just start the drive off the drive So, I’ve been working on my driving and I’ve been I’m I’m excited about that Can’t wait to get out there and show my skills,” he said.
The event will kick off with a meet and greet on June 29, featuring a live band, NFL celebrity photo opportunities and a silent auction. Tickets for the meet and greet are available for $100. Spots are still open for those interested in playing or attending, regardless of skill level.
