Charlie Woods has played his way into next month’s U.S. Junior Amateur Championship in Dallas after coming through a playoff in Florida on Thursday.
With his 15-time major-winning dad Tiger in attendance, Woods Jr. came through a three-for-one playoff to book himself in the prestigious event for a second-straight year. The teenager from Florida is a player in form, having won the Team TaylorMade Invitational, his first AJGA title.
Tiger has not featrured competitively since missing the cut at The Open Championship last July having sturggled with injury, but this has allowed him to invest time in his son’s game.

The 82-time PGA Tour winner was in attendance at the Eagle Trace Golf Club qualifier and watched on as Woods Jr. secured his Junior Amateur spot. The 16-year-old carded an impressive one-under-par 71 across his 18 holes, to leave him in a tie for fifth on the leaderboard.
He then pipped Oscar Crowe and Matthew Marigliano in a playoff to join Arth Sinha, Lucas Gimenez, Sohan Patel, and Wylie Inman in securing one of the five spots on offer.
The family of Huxley Cooper Fostvedt captured him on the range warming up alongside Woods Jr.
Showing his manners, the son of arguably the greatest golfer of all time was seen apologizing as he walked across the camera shot, capturing Cooper Fostvedt in action. Young Woods’ concentration will now be on putting in a strong showing at the U.S. Junior Amateur.

The famous event has been won by some of the biggest names in the sport, including Woods’ dad, Tiger, who secured the title three times during his junior career.
Alongside Woods, the past champions list also includes three-time major champion Jordan Spieth and world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.
After a tough week at the Sage Valley Junior Invitational, Woods Jr. has bounced back and will be full of confidence on the back of his recent showings. His victory at the Team TaylorMade Invitational was an important one, as he joined a stellar list in becoming an AJGA winner.
“It means so much because I haven’t really performed at the highest level yet,” the youngster said of his win back in May. “And to finally do it after all the work I have put in and not playing well in big events in the past.
“Even though, I know I am so much better than that and for it all to finally come together is such a great feeling… Just being able to say to myself that I have won an absolutely amazing event and say that I have performed under high pressure situations is huge going forward.
“I haven’t been able to say that I have done that and now that I can it is a big thing for my mental game going forward.”
