In a shocking turn of events during the NSW Cup, former Manly Sea Eagles centre Alfred Smalley has sparked outrage after delivering a brutal hit to talented Warriors fullback Taine Tuaupiki. This incident occurred in the dying moments of the match, where the Warriors were already leading with a commanding score of forty-six to twenty-two. As tensions flared, Smalley lost control, charging out of the defensive line to deliver what many are calling an appalling ‘dog shot’ on the young star. Eyewitness footage captures the moment, showcasing Smalley’s shoulder or forearm colliding with Tuaupiki’s head, sending the twenty-five-year-old player crashing to the ground. To make matters worse, Smalley not only struck Tuaupiki but then landed on him while he lay unconscious on the turf. The referee wasted no time in sending Smalley off the field, a decision met with widespread agreement among commentators and fans alike. Rugby league commentator Sam Hewat expressed his disgust, stating that there is “zero leeway” for such dangerous play in the sport. He condemned Smalley’s actions, particularly given the match’s context, with only ten seconds left and the game already decided. Fans echoed his sentiments, calling for a severe penalty for Smalley, with one supporter insisting he should face the full consequences of his actions. Fortunately, Tuaupiki was able to regain consciousness and, with the help of medical staff, walked off the field, later reassuring worried fans via social media that he was doing okay. However, the question remains: should Smalley face a lengthy suspension for this brutal hit? As the rugby league community grapples with this incident, it serves as a stark reminder of the fine line between competitive play and reckless aggression. The repercussions of this incident may extend beyond just a single match, as calls for stricter penalties for dangerous tackles grow louder in the wake of this alarming event. The NRL has a duty to protect its players and maintain the integrity of the game, and this incident could be a turning point in how player safety is prioritized moving forward. Fans are left to wonder what the future holds for Smalley, and more importantly, they’re relieved to see Tuaupiki recovering well after such a frightening encounter. The world of rugby league is watching closely as this story unfolds, and the implications of Smalley’s actions could reverberate throughout the sport for years to come.

This is supposed to be a professional sport. This is disgusting.
Smalley should be suspended for life
Show the actual footage, it wasn’t a dog shot it was a hit that was misjudged. Tuaupiki own family said it to him after the game. Go watch the whole game instead spewing this nonsense.
