[Music] well hello everybody and welcome to the channel today’s video is challenge video i have actually been challenged myself by 11 Golf 11 Golf watched my fitting with Mizuno and they’ve invited me up to their HQ to go through a fitting process with their hybrid irons which have been fantastic for so many golfers out there they’re saying that they want to put my irons to the test against their irons fully custom fitted for me personally in their studio and then we’re putting them to the ultimate test and putting them onto the golf course in this video we’re going to focus on the fitting process that we’re going to go through and see if these irons can beat my lovely Mazunos Mazuno irons then Nick everybody this is Nick nick is well he’s head of everything 11 basically aren’t you you build actually build them physically with your hands every spec is that right i build it all yeah so you’re a busy boy it’s Yeah it’s gone a bit crazy but yeah gone a bit crazy i will in the Sunday morning show take you out into the back office or the workshop because there are golf clubs shaft there are things everywhere it’s like a little Aladdin’s cave for those that enjoy the club building experience we’re going to put today to test my Mizuno Pro Ions got on with these really well by the way the feel the whole process of the fitting was fantastic but you think that there’s possibly an option out there with your 11 hybrids that you think we might be able to I wouldn’t say necessarily beat these but certainly put them up against them to see if I definitely think like with forgiveness okay on average they’ll they’ll definitely keep up right so my m hits when you talk about forgiveness you’re talking about mis hits so what makes the 11 hybrid so good when it comes to a mit then it’s like all kind of woods and hybrids is the size of the head cg’s back whereas obviously an iron is you don’t get a lot yeah yeah so yeah it’s just toe heel thins you’ll get a lot more out of this okay so the more weight that you push back in a club so this is why woods and fairway woods and now hybrids are so forgiving is the more weight we bring back the more we can launch that ball higher and increase the MOI less twisting maintaining ball speeds off the club face that’s what we’re talking about right so what we’re going to do is we’re going to get the numbers with my seven iron and then ideally we’re going to find something in the 11 that’s going to match up to what I’ve currently got so yardage wise with this 7 iron nick I’m looking at probably around 160 is my carry number with this particular setup all right KBS shafts standard kind of loft when it comes to this iron as well so I’ve got about 34° in loft in seven iron and the shape that I kind of am liking at the moment is a just a soft drop to the right ideally if I can get it which is a little just a small fade that was nice just so everyone’s aware for the testing we’re going to use the PXG this is the X ball this is the ball that’s in my bag right now stay there that was good that was strong that one there you go yeah bang on yeah 160.6 that’s pretty much as good as I’ve probably got if I’m honest with you Nick yeah so so your your club path average is very very tight it’s 0.2° which is very tight the problem with that I mean I know that sounds great that you’ve got a zero almost like a zero path the problem with that is that you end up with these kind of I get these little two-way misses so even though my like my my club is traveling straight down the line which you would say is is ideal but if I get the club face just a fraction open or a fraction closed you’re just going to get these little two-way misses so actually having a path working either into out or out to in is probably not necessarily a bad thing i totally agree it’s your p your face has been Yeah one left two left one right so kind of Yeah slight draws or slight fades kind of looks like that should be a little bit left i think that one Nick good strike though oh yeah 0.0 pass i mean that pass dead square isn’t it but but that you know ultimately the the the downside to that is I’ve probably missed the green left mhm um by maybe only just fallen off the left edge of the green probably i don’t know how far left I’ve gone there but um but my path is zero my path is absolutely zero but because the face is just a fraction closed which is what 2° closed to that it’s um it’s going to miss left of target that’s as good as I’ve got Nick yeah that’s your highest ball speed I think yeah 161 carry perfect to be fair yeah 160 average carry which is bang on what you said it was spins at six yeah your numbers are pretty tidy very tidy now I know the majority of the clubs that you make when it comes to your hybrids because I know that your focus is graphite shafted hybrid options because for the lot of the players that are going to go into hybrids they’re going to want to go into something that’s going to launch that ball up in the air maximum forgiveness a little bit lighter which gets them more distance is that all of right yeah 100% the only issue I have with having graphite um is that it for me personally I don’t overly want to go super lightweight okay but it’s also when I’m on the golf course it’s when I’ve had hybrids in the past as in three iron hybrids or two iron hybrids that have been graphite shafted I’ve just struggled with it mentally more than anything else like I feel like I don’t have quite the control of the club i feel like I need the steel Mhm in these heads for me to be able to let’s say perform on the golf course from a psychological point of view that’s Yeah but like you said like most of our stuff is light to help gain speed but obviously you don’t need the speed but we’ve got a few steel options to And you you’ve you’ve gone with steel in the past haven’t you you’ve had a play with I’ve currently got 120 so similar weight to yours yeah kbs120s okay and again same length as yours will be and why have you gone in steel cuz I don’t need the speed okay you’ve got plenty of speed so yeah so I lose maybe 5 mph okay steel versus graphite so I prefer the shorter distance cuz I have cuz the hybrid gives me a bit more ball speed okay so it kind of levels it out right okay so where do we go from here when it comes to matching into what I’ve kind of currently got because ultimately I’ve got numbers that are pretty good mhm um how do we match this in to then go into the head of the hybrid so to be fair we’ll probably do the same as as close as we can do shaftwise see what the difference is and see if we need to tweak it okay but you might find that light or heavy graphite might do it as well okay but it’s worth trying both swing weight this should we get an idea of what this is okay so we’ll measure the specs of your club yeah and see how close we can get it to the hybrid and this what you’ve just pulled out from under your So this is just Yeah just a swing weight see where the balance point is of the club okay and weight wise in the head is it going to be are we looking at something similar is that what you’re trying to get to uh yes so if yours are standard they’re probably both going to be around I think it’s 272 272 g for a 7 iron okay so be very similar right okay well let’s pop it in the swing weight and see how we get on d Yeah about D3 yeah D2 and 1/2 so it’s about where they sit d2 and a half yeah okay so we’re going to try and measure that up perfectly into that as well then so what have we what have we brought out of the the Aladdin’s cave there then so this is my current set oh you’re actually using this set so I’ve got Yeah I got 120 KBS tall V’s similar to what you got and again same length um what’s the coloring in that why Why have we got a different color in that one there Nick i like the rainbow color oh that’s what it comes with it’s It’s extra you can get any color really right but yeah we’re Are we there just under D3 so it’s about It’s 2 g per point so we’re looking about a gram difference so the gram difference in in your spec in compared to what I’ve got in my 7 spec yeah so it’ll just be Yeah we’re talking like a liter gram okay and so mine are a 120 stiff shaft what are these these are 120x okay so it’s a little bit little bit more rigid slightly stiffer yeah slightly stiffer as in less torque they’ll be Yeah so the tip the tip end of the shaft Yeah will just twist as much okay so so ultimately whereas I’ve gone into KBS from project X because I wanted to get that launch just a fraction higher are you saying that that launch is going to come down a fraction in they should launch about a degree lower compared to the talls right but then the hybrid head should then obviously knock it back up and launch it up so we’re going to try and balance this out okay this will be interesting thank you so ultimately I suppose in a way I’m kind of looking I’m trying to get the B not only am I trying to get a similar shape to what I’m getting with my own irons but I want I want almost like similar numbers don’t I yes i want to try and get it to match in yardage wise try and match in ball speed wise and then obviously ultimately spin-wise to um to see if we can get the same almost like optimal windows should we call it first one out bit thin yeah a couple grooves low literally like a couple of grooves low but that’s the benefit there of a hybrid head we’ve missed it 161 so bang on your number even though it’s a slight missing miss that was nice Nick that was really nice so the first thing you’re going to notice when you come into a hybrid set of irons like these 11s if I think about my 7 iron that I’ve just been hitting in comparison to the 7 IR that I’ve got here in my hands I’ve got 31° of loft in this 7 compared to 34° of loft in that 7 that Mazuno one however when I look down at this club I just see a lot more loft on the club and as you can see there’s actually less loft on this club but because of the fact that it is a hybrid because of the fact that we’ve got a black head with that little bit of white in there from the grooves point of view it just the mind is playing kind of tricks on me so it really does look like I’ve got plenty of loft here which I actually think for lots of golfers is going to give them lots of confidence to be able to get that ball up in the air really quite quickly i think it’s just it’s just delivery on Matt I think but everyone you hit 26 Yeah spins at high sixes seven the odd one where you come in a little low loft the the thing that what amazes me honestly what amazes me is I am you know my strike performance is good but it’s still it does you know it’s scattering across the face a fraction but I look up and the and the all right I mean the hot spot there is right in the middle but like I look up look up and it’s just the flight pattern it’s not it’s almost like not the flight pattern I’m expecting to see from a hybrid I think as well with a bit of gear effect the slight heels because you know you get saved a bit and then the toes kind of draw back but they’re all just drifting back towards pretty much towards the target aren’t they again 18 ball speed 118 ball speed yeah 68 spin there we go it’s perfect 159 y 68 in the spin which you could argue is probably a fraction high but that’s for me that’s just loads of control yeah I’d say again it’s for you I’d say you probably what do you normally play like mid sixes yeah I’m I’m like a six in spin wise between let’s say 62 and 65 is probably where I’m at okay normally maybe a little bit lower on the odd occasion we’ve lost two yards on the hybrid reason being 7,000 spin to 6,000 spin just picked up a a th000 revs of spin which where the CG is that’s what you kind of expect ball speed 116 versus 117 and a half picked up a bit of ball speed which why the distance is similar and again what’s the main one launch angle to be fair 20 to 20 launch angle pretty much the same but I mean at the end of the day if I’ve got 3° if I’ve got 3° less loft on this club Yeah we’re expecting to see that ball speed just pop up fractionally anyway aren’t we so there’s less deflection of it on the angle correct yeah so it’s compressing the ball a little bit more i say as well because your shaft well in this setup Yeah is shorter than stock normally you’d see a bit more club head speed okay in in an 11 hybrid iron yeah is that what you’re saying so for example a 37 in 7 iron is this 37 12 is stock okay because graphite’s longer right but from in comparison to my irons they’re the same yeah they’re the same which is why the club head speeds which is why we’re 84.9 mph and 85 mph correct in the two so really what we’re saying here the only difference is that I’m I’m gaining a little bit more ball speed it’s going pretty much within three yards of each other two two yards of each other and but it’s just the spin is a little bit higher which then is what is what’s holding that ball from flighting forward if that makes sense but I say if the spin was the same they would that would go further it’ go a few yards further yeah but I say if you like seven iron down they’re going to be very similar right but the long irons I think is where you’ll see more carry with this on average gains as a as an average as an average right okay purely because of the the miss on ball speed cuz obviously 1.6 deviation to 1.4 a seven iron middle of the bag that’s about right for you okay i think the long irons will favor the hybrid and angle of attack so I’m still playing this like an iron aren’t I whereas a lot of players I you’d probably say that they would want to sweep the ball maybe with a hybrid yeah yeah especially the the So the more you hit up on the ball or less down launches higher so the people with less speed do tend to kind of nip it launch higher and get a bit more carry okay but I’m I’m 3° down on an angle of attack with my iron and I’m 2.5° down angle of attack with this one so we’re pretty much hit both just like an iron just the same okay well the big test then with what you said there is four iron to four iron so I’ve got my four iron which we’re going to hit now you’ve got your four iron which loftwise are pretty much the same that’s got 21° i think this is pretty much there or thereabouts 22 23° so we’re there or thereabouts let’s see how these compare because this is an important area of the bag isn’t it it is yeah it’s you know missit this is where you get punished right yeah absolutely right just before the four this is another option we do very stiff but 95 g it should just be a slightly lower launching version to the steel yeah just a fraction lower spin yeah it is it’s just giving you a few more yards it’s done exactly what you said but but what about my Okay we’ll hit one more and we’ll just have a quick look at the dispersion of those first three or four shots that I’ve hit there that’s got to be right interestingly ball speed’s quite up though Nick is that cuz my sw is my swing speed increased here so you are at 85 not a lot it is the same it’s It’s roughly but there’s Yeah yeah your ball speed’s 1 mile an hour up 1 m an hour up again that might just be because it’s you’ve had a couple 85 and a halfs versus Yeah it’s it’s similar though to be fair i mean I would say that 6 and a half th000 revs is my optimum I would say that’s pretty good it is up in the carry isn’t it with that yeah you got to look as well like peak height 105 106 and 100 so that both hybrids have peaked slightly higher they’ve again 50° to 52 51 similar it’s Yeah so this graphite one is just kind of giving you the same spin as yours almost but with a couple sat in between isn’t it it’s only a couple yards but they’re both again with a seven iron I I’d expect them to be quite close especially like the shorter shaft build we’ve done for you and that’s an X and that’s 95 grams which is still a little bit lighter than what we’re seeing in the in both mine and your other set there yes yeah okay yeah lighter just feels a little bit alien and that and I and I just feel like every time I’ve experimented with clubs and things in the past especially with shafts is it might feel okay in here yeah yeah but when you get out and you know you’re under pressure to hit a golf shot it’s important to almost like feel like home to you you know okay well I’m I’m actually more comfortable if I’m brutally honest from a feel point of view in steel the iron steel version let’s try the Let’s try the four irons well I’ve ripped those so you’ve got your um your work cut out with this four iron pick oh bit towy just so easy to hit aren’t they that’s the thing they’re just so easy like even even my mis hits there I’m like I just I’m looking at the ball speed and it’s just not dropping off is it yeah 194 with the 11 1 193 with yours okay uh 14 launcher 50 again very because you’ve produced you know dynamically you’ve produced the same attack angle and dynamic loss and everything the numbers are very similar yeah so so so in reality we’ve actually created a pretty similar set here haven’t we all right the spin on the seven iron is a little bit higher and the spin on the four iron is a little bit higher but I I kind of like that in the fact I’m going to get control of the ball the more spin you have the more control you’re going to get especially coming out of wet conditions rough conditions things like that which is always going to take spin off the ball get club face grasp between the club face and the ball so actually having higher spin as a starting point in in fresh lies is never a bad thing to take to the golf course but I think as well obviously it’s it’s quite good to show that if you build the hybrid in the same spec as the Mazuno Yeah is similar results so you don’t have to be someone who needs loads of height you can kind of do it with as well but I would say that just from a forgiveness point of view which is what these clubs are all about I’m going to get more I’m going to still maintain these numbers with a mishit aren’t I if if we had more than you know the amount of shots we hit you would see a tighter gap with a hybrid but again you know the Mazuno fitness is obviously good cuz your numbers are good yeah yeah we’ve kind of just matched it exactly the same yeah which is which is going to be an easy transition to take to the golf course and try it out absolutely well I think for me going from what I’m used to seeing into into the the same shaftwise I think is really important from a psychological point of view even in here you know I felt like I was maybe just a little bit more confident having something with a bit more weight and something that I’ve trusted over the years of having that steel shaft i think moving into a graphite shaft is not necessarily the way forward for me no I Yeah you’ve been used to this for so long might as well just match it okay i think we could have got you probably going lighter more speed but then you’d lose a bit of consistency especially at the speed you’re already at so yeah what I’d like to do now is build this exactly the same as this so the same shaft same 120 stiff exact same length exact same head weight okay just a replica but in this head and you know what’s even better i’ve brought up a couple of these perfect my Align Max grips up for put on there with it so okay so we’ll match it all in perfectly identical right let’s do some building [Music] [Music] [Music] see I always do the grips first just cuz it’s I can cherry pick heads rather than have to just weight one head yeah so D almost D it’ll be D1 with a fereral so need 4 g to the head to make it the same as yours just double check the swing weight yeah so with a fereral be at D3 which is pretty much the same as your Munet one last clean up and then we’ll sort the foul out when it dries your fresh seven hybrid wow right we’re ready to go we all dried up ready for action okay first impressions it feels short why does it feel short yeah it’s just the shape of the hybrid head they Yeah I don’t know why they do feel short it’s amazing isn’t it so that’s even just a fraction longer minimally so we we play all the hybrids we cut it to end of the shaft and then plus the grip it should just be a cap cap longer but it feels shorter but it feels short yeah okay let’s give it a go yeah nice 120 ball speed on that yeah so number-wise then similar to the Mazuno originally where it’s 62 spin 160 carry we’ve just peaked a little higher in peak height so a bit more stopping power but yeah what I want to know why do you think because my spin Yes my my spin was closer to 7,000 revs or certainly above 6 and a half thousand revs in the stiffer shaft yeah what is causing it to maybe just drop a fraction because I think I prefer it down here because it’s now closer to what I’m used to with my own seven iron but what what any particular reason because ultimately that shaft should if you were saying what it what it should say on the tin should launch lower spin less yeah again it depends on the player because sometimes you know high launch high spin shafts sometimes it’s easier to hold onto the angle and actually have less dynamic loft yeah so it comes out low yeah and then other way around more weight easier to kind of flip it so it’s just like dynamically you add more loft okay which I think is what you’re doing is you just get better numbers with the stiff rather than the X well the proof will be in the pudding because the plan is to take these in the full set to the golf course and put them in a tournament nick are you confident of your build 100% 100% so part two of this video will be on the golf course me taking on the Mighty Links with the 11 Hybrid Ions thank you Nick for your time thanks for coming down don’t forget if you are new to the channel make sure you hit that subscribe button and we will see you again on the next video

Lesters face when he was finishing off that club was a picture, it was screaming I want all that equipment. Great video.
That’s Matt Fryer. Isn’t he?
Well done, this is the best explanation of the difference between eleven and the competition
Looking forward to part 2!
Great video Dan.
Also, maaybeeee lets give pinhawk one length hybrids a test…
I think the Eleven hybrid irons are a quality product . The only thing that stops me from buying them is the lack of adjustment in the lie . I currently use irons that are 2 degrees upright and unsure how they would work for me . If there is an answer I would like to hear from anyone with a solution
I’m in the USA, so I ended up with Majek hybrids. I’d love to try a fitted set of Elevens.
Eleven hybrid irons are the way. These clubs should be in way more people's bags. So forgiving and fun to play.
0.0 path ..that is golden Dan. Don't mess with that. It sounds like just a little +/- deviation in your gripping the club that is maybe causing start line issues, or maybe just aiming the clubface off a little. I would look at that, before I would start messing with that zero'd path. Them hands causing troubles again. 😁 Cheers mate.
Distance control is the issue with the scoring clubs — pick a yardage and then see how close you can get to it with each club.
Just bought 6-PW Eleven Hybrids. They arrived yesterday. Took them to the driving range last night and could not believe the immediate improvement – distance, flight, straightness. Should have done it years ago
Your posting some interesting stuff lately Dan and I’m loving it. Keep it up 😊
Great video. Hope part 2 is a success.
Nick is Matt fryers brother.
5 x Eleven Hybrids in my bag, fantastic clubs. Would have more but my slower swing speed doesn't warrant it.
If you live in US, you cannot return these clubs once the wrapper is off. I ended up selling mine on EBay. Nice clubs but no advantage over other hybrids for me.
I thought that was Lee with a beard there for a minute 😂
Feels like a great idea for winter. Should be easier of wet muddy lies. Not so sure off hard dry fairways in the summer?
Hi Nick
I have a set of Eleven irons 4 to pw with KBS 70 grams graphites shaft, I have the tendacy to miss right with my Eleven my regular miss are left with regular irons???
Is it the « onset « or is Just me not be able to square the face with my Eleven
I love the consept of Eleven and i would love to put them in my bag
Thank you
pretty sure i seen you at my golf club yesterday, cricket st thomas ?
