Drive for show and putt for dough. How is your dough doing? I’m out at the beautiful Sand Canyon Country Club and this golf tip is sponsored by the Grint Golf app. I’ve been using the pro version and it gives you insights on your scoring, your statistics, live shot tracking, which is pretty awesome. You know, I’ve been scoring okay, nothing spectacular. But I want it to be spectacular, right? So, I was just going through my statistics on my Grint app and I figured out that I’ve been missing a lot of my 15 footers. I’ve had 17 chances and I made zero. It’s not funny. It’s serious. So today we’re going to work on making more 15 footers. I consider 15 footers as birdie putts. For some people, it might be par putts. If you’re anything outside of 15 feet, then you don’t really expect to make it. Inside the 15 feet, you can make some. If I’ve made at least four out of 17 of those, I might be feeling a little bit better about my putting. So, let’s get Aimeefied. If you are missing 15 footers, the first thing you need to check is your eye alignment. Are your eyes directly over the golf ball? so I’m right-handed so my left eye will be directly over the ball. If your eyes are not over the ball what happens is that your alignment can get crooked and also your stroke can get crooked so you will be missing your sweet spot and your stroke might be a little bit off too. So eye position is very important. And the second thing you want to check out is your alignment. Your feet, your hips, your knees, your shoulders should be parallel to your target. But if you are closed, then you are compensating to make the ball go toward the hole. So I want you to be parallel to the target. If anything, if you’re going to make a mistake of standing incorrect, then open is much better than closed. If you’re closed, it’s a lot harder to get your stroke back compared to if you’re open. So parallel to your target is number two. Number three, you have to check out your stroke. Is your stroke fairly straight back and through? How is your tempo? If you’re struggling with either one or both, all you have to do is an Aimeefied drill, get your pinkies together and set up so the shaft is pointing at your target and you know where your six-pack is, use the top two of your six-pack to rock your shoulders. So, it goes one, two, one, two, one, two. I don’t want your arms to control the putter head. And when you do this drill you’ll notice that your elbows are rotated inward, not flaring out because if they’re flared out it’s a lot easier to be wobbly and miss the sweet spot and be very inconsistent at impact. So, feel like your pinkies are together, your elbows are rotated in and you’re using your core to rock your shoulders. One, two. So, you’ll be stroking a lot straighter back and forth with consistent tempo. Let’s give it a go. So, if you checked out all three things now the next step is to work on making These. So, you want to grab three tees and you’re gonna go ahead and mark a straight putt. It’s 15 footer. And then half a ball left to right and then like half a ball right to left is right here. So, I have two golf balls. You’re going to hit two balls from each station, so that’s six balls total, right? You’re gonna do two rounds so 12 putts total. Out of 12, let’s set a goal. I want to say, out of 12, I want to make three. How’s that? Let’s start there. Ooh, one out of twelve. As soon as I made those two, my goal went up to 5 out of 12. That was seven out of twelve. I exceeded my expectations. So drills like this is amazing because it gives you three different lies to work on and you’re getting familiar with the speed of 15 footers and obviously because this is so much fun you can spend a lot of time on it and also you’ll be focusing on making them which is going to help you make more on the golf course. Guys if you’re serious about improving your golf game, really give the Grint app a go. The pro version I am using gives you detailed insight on your scoring your statistics and live shot tracking which is pretty awesome. Basically, the statistics that I haven’t been paying attention to help me understand that I need to work on my 15 footers and I really feel more confident over these birdie putts. You’ve been Aimeefied. Thank you so much for golfing with me today and see you in the next one.
