stand by to launch Fanstream Sports 3 2 1 Let’s start hello sports fans welcome to Fanstream Sports hello golf fans welcome into another edition of From the Rough it’s America’s favorite golf podcast right here on Fan Stream Sports i am Indie Car Tim joined as I always am by that guy right over there PJ of America member P Johnny Gerber live from his FanSream Sports Studio wherever he is on the road right now johnny I’m not sure wherever you are but you’re here uh I’m in Kansas City i am in Kansas City uh our new little summer little home here in Kansas City for the summer it’s going to be great to be here for the summer um so looking looking forward to being here and another branch off Fan Stream Sports Kansas City will be working on but here sitting on my couch as as you forgot when you were up here moving us in last week to to do half the stuff that I asked you to do i had two assignments and I checked both things off the list what hook up the wireless printer that hasn’t worked in a year two years and hang the three TVs but well it comes Well it comes with other things you have to just because you hook them up they got to make sure they work i was watching them yeah you were watching something all right i don’t know what that was you were watching when you get that Skinnamax bill in the mail just throw that away that’s Boy that’s a blow wow that you’re dating yourself you’re absolutely dating yourself but no no we got a we got a nice little setup you’re working on here so this will be a little makeshift here sitting on the couch if I fall asleep because I’m tired I’m on the couch just go ahead and go on with the show like Jesus but uh great week great week we’re going to a lot of golf going on this week after last week that we uh took a little week off just from the betting aspect but uh you know it was good good to refresh and it’s good to get back to Kansas City and we’ve got some news outside of the upcoming CJ Cup Byron Nelson that’s right here in my backyard literally right down the road as this week over the weekend or Monday maybe it was i can’t remember which day it was my whole week has sort of I guess it was Tuesday so it was yesterday mhm how about that um as the President’s Cup announced Tuesday who the team captains will be for the 2026 event the 16th President’s Cup at Madina Country Club number three in September as we have Brandt Snedeker and Jeff Ogulvie as your captains um of course Snedeker represented the US team at the 2013 President’s Cup right in your backyard at Mirfield Don’t Call Me Valley Village Golf Club in Dublin correct uh the resurgence of Phil the the the return of Phil he was had to get all his stuff done before he could come back to uh uh Dublin Ohio so yeah that’s a whole another story that he wasn’t allowed in the city no uh they went two three and 0 in that President’s Cup he also played for the United States at the 2012 and 2016 RDER Cups uh where he amassed a 42 and 0 record he was cap captain’s assistant at the 2024 President’s Cup uh and he is slated now to serve as vice captain for the 2025 Ryder Cup after or right before the 2026 President’s Cup um thoughts on Snedker on Oglev um and how they can either hurt or benefit uh our respective teams here yeah I mean you kind of look at it a little bit different i think these guys little different mentalities i mean Brent Snedker is you know he’s he’s known out there for just to being a really good guy on the PJ tour very jovial certainly doesn’t have the pedigree in terms of major championships like Jeff Oggovy does uh winning a US Open uh which Jeff Oggovy did but you know I think they’re both solid picks i mean you know I think that they’re they’re they’re taking the little model of maybe the the the European Rder Cup teams how they’re kind of grooming guys to kind of take over starting potentially with the President’s Cup learning how things have been done uh so it makes it a little bit easier for them uh you know like like you said Sneder 2025 this year going to be a vice captain on the Ryder Cup and it’s just going to get him prepared for the President’s Cup so you know I really do think I I really do think that there’s there’s some compelling stories i think the international team is going to continue to get better to challenge the guys on the PG or challenge the guys on the American side for the President’s Cup i think they’re going to continue to get better especially with the resurgence and the continued growth of golf around the world and I think they got to take it a little bit serious i think the one time I think there’s when there’s an opportunity if the President’s Cup if the international team does beat the US team it has been lopsided let’s be honest for years there’s not it really hasn’t been that challenging uh but I think if it once they win it one time it’s just kind of going to open up the floodgates and knowing that they can do it so um yeah I think they’re solid picks i mean if if you look at it who who was who was up for it that you would pick instead of these guys you know i’m not sure uh so not Zack Johnson well no certainly not Zack Johnson um so yeah I mean yeah I like it i like it i just think that I think they’ll lead their teams in a little different way i think they’ve had experience playing on these sides and I think they’re solid picks um yeah look I’m excited about the Brandt Snedker pick um you know with with his international play history you know and there I’m sure there’s other guys that that share you know a resume like that it’s nothing just overwhelmingly special but um I’ve always liked Grant Sneder i’ve always liked his his demeanor i’ve liked his uh you know the way he plays the game and and you know I’m I’m sure he’ll carry that over into into what we have there at Madina in September of 2026 so um good things looking forward to them um and get your get your uh Team USA chance ready for the RDER Cup coming up and then of course President’s Cup next year uh but Johnny we have an immediate um I guess news bulletin here with the CJ Cup Byron Nelson uh at Stonebrier Country Club stone Brier Country Club tpc Craig R i just said that at TPC Craig Ranch uh right down the road here in McKenna um and look it’s a it’s a tournament look it’s it’s near and dear to me because it’s it’s the one here in my backyard that I’ve been going to and watching religiously since you know I played in high school and then watching it in in before I was on the golf team and before I started playing golf it’s one of the things that got me interested in it because I thought it was cool as a you know a very young teenager that it was right here in Dallas right and that it was right down the road in Los Kolenus at the TPC four seasons tpc lost Kolinus and every time I drove by it for whatever reason it was just kind of cool right like hey man that’s where they play the Nelson you know and while it’s not there anymore you know there’s a good reason it’s not there anymore that whole area and the course itself just isn’t what it used to be but it’s always been a tournament near and dear to my heart because it’s local um and it’s a tournament that you and I kind of were talking a little bit about off the air before we came on that just might not be around much longer unfortunately and now it’s been 20 years now since since Byron Nelson has passed on so you know he doesn’t have the the obviously the influence anymore not being there and I just don’t know that the the name Byron Nelson means from a golf standpoint you know if it carries hardly any weight anymore especially with the young players who never met him coming up you know and then they they’re just so detached from him in the tournament that it’s just not a big deal anymore and I hate that but it’s it is what it is and I like I said I just I don’t know that it’s going to be around much longer and I’m trying to soak it all in for these next few years as I can yeah i mean you make great points i mean you know unless you’re a Texas guy born and raised in Texas and know the golf history of Texas you know unfortunately Byron Nelson is one of those guys that’s that kind of slips under the cracks a little bit his story-wise I mean I don’t think these younger kids coming up really know who he is i mean they they they know it just because of the name of the tournament but how long will they continue to to use that name and support it i think that you know the API with Honor Palmer you know Honor Palmer still holds a ton of weight uh Colonial is not really revered as uh Ben Hogan’s place so that his name doesn’t put on it you know Tigers probably trying to set his precedent for you know the Riviera tournament yep so you know who’s to say i mean it’s unfortunately when he was alive the fields were were great they wanted to respect him tiger playing there you know but besides the loyalty maybe the Texas guys at the Jordan Speed or the Scotty Sheffler has that are playing this week you know is it a big draw i mean for me I love it just because you know it’s Dallas and it’s you know home and our second home you know uh studios there i think you know we have a we’ve been out there covering it so many times you’re going to be out there this week i think you’re I think you I think you’re right how long do they continue to have and especially after the rumors are coming down you know it’s going to be moved to PJ Frisco soon uh so a lot of rumors and how long will the Byron Nelson Foundation or however they structure that put his name on it we’ll see um I hate to I hate to say it that way because for me um I I I prefer Byron Nelson way over Ben Hogan any day of the week just for other reasons uh it would just be tough to to lose a guy like that for a sponsor but it’s not the same tournament as it used to be it’s not and like I said I’m just trying to soak all of this in and get to as many of them as I can while it’s still around and while it still bears his name and you know the tournament itself may not go away but but it’s not going to be the Byron Nelson the Byron Nelson Classic the AT&T Byron Nelson Classic like we had for years and years and um you know that’ll be unfortunate it’ll probably change names as as these things often do with with some corporate sponsorship and you know if this if this big corporate entity that comes in and and and buys a 10 or 15 year naming rights for something like that uh they would be doing themselves a favor they would be doing the the the locals here a favor if they would keep his name attached to it you know and throw that out there the you know the whatever the EDS data systems Byron Nelson Invitational or whatever you know you want to name it you know so and I don’t think that’s that I don’t think that’s their choice i think it’s their I think it’s Byron Nelson Foundation’s choice if they want to be affiliated with it but that being said I mean if you if you ask the tour guys and unfortunately you know they’re not getting the players that they should but it’s still a party i mean it’s like the Phoenix it’s it’s the the the people are coming out in Fris Dallas to enjoy this is one of the events as big of a town or big a city as Dallas is as many events as they host this is one of the events that people still continue to support especially the women i mean you know you hear all the rumors and things like that which are great uh I will tell you for a fact that is that is very true it is a lot of fun uh so you know but those guys are out there to work i don’t particularly think they like the golf course that much tpc Craig Ranch I think it’s just okay i don’t think they get rah excited about playing it um and that holds true i mean that that’s one of the reasons why these guys play certain schedules is because they like the golf course the golf course fits their game and how they’re treated and I think that’s like I said I hate to say it I just don’t think it’s a premier event on the PJ tour that these guys are excited to come to nope it is definitely not um that said it is still here for now and it will be played this week uh some big time adverse weather conditions today rolling through on Wednesday as we broadcast this uh as we’ve we’ve got local flooding we’ve we’ve had so much rain since uh around noon today Dallas time and that is expected to continue through the night we’re supposed to be sunny and about 85 degrees tomorrow uh on Thursday and then a little more rain possibly on Friday and 75 degrees and then for the weekend we’re looking at sunny skies 75 degrees the weather probably couldn’t be any better here in the Dallas area in at the end of April first part of May for the Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch so uh Johnny before we get into all of all of we’ll get into Johnny’s picks obviously later in the show before we get into the field here how do you think this the weather will affect how the guys are going to approach the course this week well you know I I we talked about this a little bit earlier you know mo these guys love soft golf courses because they can throw darts on the greens but this this is a little bit different they don’t like the run out they don’t like the firm conditions okay these guys hit it plenty far plenty high so they like the predictability of where the ball can land as opposed to extreme roll this place is a little bit different just because of the the width of the fairways it’s a it’s a big ballpark in terms of driving the ball the the fairways are very generous so I don’t think it plays as much factor playing soft from Ted to green but from fairway I mean from Yeah from T to green but uh hitting on hit on the fairways but holding the greens itself is going to be a big difference they love they love the softness they don’t really like firm greens but yeah we’ll see i I think the longer hitters certainly will will have a benefit if it’s soft because they can fly the ball a lot farther not predicated on the roll right but I also don’t but I also think you know if it was rain and it was 90 degrees and it was baking it out that’s a little bit different but it’s going to be 75 degrees you know this time of year you can get some winds so we’ll see how that plays out but I think you’re going to see the predictability what you’ve seen the last four or five years mid 20s upper 20s golf courses tournaments that you hate par 71 is certainly going to come into play so you know 25 26 under 23 under especially if it’s soft is certainly going to be uh the winning score somewhere around there and this will be the last Byron Nelson on this course in its current configuration uh as we found out uh or I found out I’m sure this has been in the news but I found out this week that Lanny Watkins is heading a group that will completely retool the course um and make it in his words much more difficult for the pros so we don’t know how many more of these things are going to be at TPC Craig Ranch you know regardless if it’s the Byron Nelson or something else we don’t know how many more will be there but at least going into next season lanny Watkins said it’s going to be a much more difficult course it’ll be a much more tighter course um and he said in his words they’re going to modernize it a little bit now it’s not that old so I don’t know what that means but it’s uh in his words it’s it’s going to be a much more difficult course he does he’s like me he doesn’t like the 25 under winning scores anywhere um I I don’t think that’s good for the game it’s not good for TV i can’t stand that but he says next year he he was guessing the winning score of this tournament will be somewhere around 13 under 13 to 14 under which I’m fully fine with that i just don’t like when players beat the course that bad i like the course to win sometimes and when you’ve got scores in the 20s uh under par it’s just that never happens the course is never winning so but but you can say that all day long but you can set the golf course up to make it as hard as you want with the rough sure things like that whether besides redesigning it and making it I mean how how do you redesign it you’re not ripping you’re not changing the routing right you’re not changing you know are you going to flatten some are you gonna make the greens more undulating um I mean to be honest with you if you’re gonna if you’re gonna make the golf course harder all you got to do is tighten in the fairways and grow up the rough and make the greens as hard as you can that’s the easy fix i don’t know what Laney’s gonna do to make it 10 shots 12 shots different besides besides the course conditions right i mean so yeah you we’ll see i mean and the other option is change venues which they’re going to be changing venues pretty soon right and uh he did say I believe this was on Tuesday that I saw this yesterday that I saw this he said they had the rough cut to about 4 in um and then they were going to let it grow through the rain today uh just to to roughen it toughen it up a little bit through the weekend so we’ll see how that affects to me you know to me when you make the rough harder to hit out of that’s that’s all the difference in the world and that’s a lot of times that’s all you need because we’ve seen recently how hard it is for guys to find some fairways some good guys to find some fairways and you need to be punished you know sometimes 4 in goes a long way but you know just to to let you know size doesn’t matter you you should know you should know that perspect but yeah 4inch rough or Bermuda rough is a lot like that’s that’s a lot and let it continue to grow but again you’re you’re going to have some softer greens i don’t they don’t have subair systems in those greens to dry them out so they’re at the mercy of you know the weather 75 is not going to dry them out if you had 90 degrees that would be a little bit different but uh it’s still going to be it’s still going to be a dart board but yeah I I like the aspect of they’re keeping the rough and letting it continue to grow you know Bermuda for most people you know Bermuda grows this way uh bent bent and right uh and blue grows north goes north and south so you get that 4 in Bermuda uh that can be that can be a tough task yeah and whoever said 4 in isn’t isn’t enough they don’t know what they’re talking about uh just as the PGA Tour starts to return to the Lonear State here for its annual stop outside Dallas we have a long summer of golf that is quickly approaching we also have uh the second major of the champ second major championship of the season the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow it’s just a couple of weeks away now and a lot of players will start prepping for it get ready for it find their footing on the friendly fairways for now of TPC Craig Ranch it’s known as one of the easier layouts on the tour we’ve been talking about why um and it’s uh it’s got we’re going to have a lot of local players here including the world number one that guy um he is still winless in 2025 and I couldn’t be happier about it but he’ll look to get his first win for the of the year here uh it would be his first win since what was his last one the tour championship last year right i think was his last win right um but he it is he hasn’t lost because of a lack of consistency he’s had eight top 25 finishes in eight tournaments including three straight top 10s his closest call of the year came in Texas here last month at the Houston Open when he fell by one stroke to Minu Lee your future brother-in-law and he will look to improve on that standing this week at a golf course where he has collected finishes of T15 and T5 in his last two appearances joining Scott Sheffller will be other Dallas native Jordan Speath and of course Will Zallurus who uh they both need to start rolling in the right direction for different reasons though spe is quietly putting together a strong stretch of form with three top 20 finishes while Willisurus has dipped to number 88 in the FedEx Cup standings nearly halfway through the season we will have a plethora of other players here getting ready to tee it up amid a run of quality starts including Jake Knap who nearly grabbed his second PGA win last week joel Damon Sunjm Bang Hun or Ben as we like to refer to him as Ben that’s BEM for you uh and then of course Sam Burns at TPC Craig Ranch par 71 7,569 yards with a purse of 9.9 million johnny we’re going to take a quick break we’re going to come back and we’re going to talk a little bit about the players the odds who’s hot who’s not who stands a chance who doesn’t stand a chance all of that followed by our uh Johnny’s winning picks my dartboard picks all that good stuff as we get in more to the Byron Nelson 2025 CJ Cup Byron Nelson Classic back after this today’s show is brought to you by Tom’stown a premier craft distillery based be mad at after we read it uh Johnny it is Byron Nelson week it is CJ cut Byron Nelson week let’s get into before we get into your winning picks and my dart board picks by the way no crossovers means we’re winning we’re going to win big week load up guys if there’s no crossovers big week as a matter of fact we are so far from a crossover i have a guy on my card I have never heard of before did you just flip coins what did you do i think it’s the Oh no it’s my dart board pick i think it’s the second time I’ve put a guy on my card that I just found out who he was when I was researching the tournament huh so we’ll see we’ll see what Johnny thinks of my wildly irresponsible dart board picks for the CJ Cup Byron Nelson here in 2026 but let’s get into some of the favorites here johnny as it is uh with of course at plus 280 to win which I was what uh 2.8 to one something like that if you converted it uh no he’s certainly not that much of a favorite is he i don’t know it says plus 280 which I never normally see on the that’s must be top that must be top 20 or top 10 or something that’s not they don’t do odds like that yeah I know which is weird so I’m looking at our my the normal place I get them from uh odds via FanDuel sports book um and these are probably as of yesterday when all of this came out so I don’t know if it’s a typo by our buddy um Patrick McDonald over at CBS Sports or what but he’s your favorite regardless of what the number is it’s also a stupid pick if you’re trying to make money like he always is because you’re not going to make uh any money on somebody that’s always that big of a favorite if you break even you’re doing yourself lucky and that’s not any fun we don’t do stuff to break even around here yeah we’re talking of course about the Dallas native Scott Sheffler um and he’s the rightful favorite really anytime he tees it up in Texas um but from all accounts this may not be the best fit for his game wide fairways misses that will not be penalized um you know TBC Craig Ranch kind of has a way of bringing the entire field into the conversation cuz it’s not the hardest course on the tour uh admittedly um but he remains a step above the rest of the field as he has doubled the total strokes gained output of the second best player in this field over the last three months so keep an eye out uh on his third round scoring in particular he ranks outside the top 100 on the PGA Tour in that category this season so whatever the odds are where we have Scotty Sheffller Scotty doesn’t matter just stay away from him don’t do it um at 18 to1 Jordan Spe uh another guy you’re not going to make any money on but you’ll make more than if you do Scotty Sheffler i happen to have a very good feeling about Jordan Speed this week johnny what about you i do too i think I He’s not on our card but 18 to1 there’s some value there this is you know this is one of his first starts he’s ever had on the PJ tour different golf course but certainly has the loyalty there i like the way he’s been playing he’s trending extremely well i think the motivation factor of JT winning a couple weeks ago certainly you know you might not think that’s motivation but it is certainly and then obviously him trying to get on the the RDER Cup team so yep yeah it’s it’s it’s a good week for him to continue to progress and kind of I don’t want to say get right week because I think his momentum is getting there it hasn’t like he’s been playing terrible and then coming into this thing to get right but yeah I like him this 18 to1 you can make some money on him maybe put him in a different spot i mean 100 get you 1,800 so it’s not it’s not terrible uh I just don’t think he’s ready to win yet i think he’s making too many mistakes uh you know he’s having one he’s play having nine holes of golf that I don’t really like can’t have in the win um so not terrible we’ll see how he plays having you know in our card moving forward but this week certainly don’t at 22 to1 our good buddy from South Korea Sun JM uh he took a trip back home to defend his worry financial group championship and proceeded to miss the cut it was the continuation of a somewhat disappointing year that’s been alleviated by the slightest by a top five finish at the Masters his iron play continues to fall short of expectations but the rest of his game remains in good order when the scoring clubs start to cooperate he’ll find himself back in contention I think on a consistent basis i just don’t know if that’s going to be here this week yeah that’s a lot i mean that was kind of my mantra when I was playing that’s a long way to go to play bad golf it just I mean it just is you know so um yeah we’ll see i mean we’ll see i He’s He’s not the Sunjm of old right i mean I don’t know what’s going on with him you know that was a guy that would play every single week on the PJ tour uh obviously s certainly some talent but I like some other guys in that in the in the Korean kind of Korean mafia as we will say a group group of guys that we’re going to we’re going to trigger the Korean mafia on there right right uh I don’t like him in that pod so uh yeah we’ll see we’ll see at 25 to1 Ben on uh may hear his name here again shortly after the next break uh if my premonition is correct 27 to1 Sam Burns he might be one of the more disappointing players for the first half of the PGA Tour season i think he’s without a top 10 finish since the century he’s lost strokes on approach in all but one start this season his putter continues to to be good to him but it’s un you know that that model with just winning with your putter is unsustainable throughout an entire season and that’s kind of what he’s what he’s counting on right now um but you know this week on this course especially with the weather I don’t know how he’s going to to keep up with the the I’ll say the good guys the guys that are playing well right now uh he finished runner up here in 2021 but he’s just not playing well right now yeah you got to make you’re going to have to make 2830 birdies this week or kind of combine it with an Eagle uh you know you’re there’s not a lot of trouble here for these guys to make big mistakes you know the guys have an opportunity to win that are playing solid there’s not a double bogeies out there if they make a bogey with the soft conditions you know it was going to surprise them i mean it wouldn’t surprise me if you got the guy that wins the golf tournament doesn’t make a bogey this week yeah really does i mean it’s just it’s just that type of place but yeah disappointing for Sam Burns certainly you know he’s always relied on his ball striking certainly driving prowess is you know what he’s been notorious for uh if he can just kind of clean those things up I just don’t think he has 28 to 30 birdies in him i just don’t this week he’s not he hasn’t been trending well enough to have that confidence to be able to do that so yeah yeah I mean I he’s going to be on our card certainly um not to the in the winner’s spot but uh he’s he’s again he’s kind of in that mold of Jordan Speed he needs to start playing he needs to start ramping stuff up get these double points for the Ryder Cup because I think he’s an asset coming into the fall just like Jordan Speed but he needs to kind of he needs to get up there and and now’s the time to start at 30 to1 c Woo Kim and our buddy Taylor Pendreth uh Taylor kind of took advantage of Ben Nolles or Ben Cole’s nerves last year and skirted into the winner circle for his first career win he’ll be defending his title here he got off to a great start this year with three top 15 finishes on his first four starts but things have cooled down for him his short game is not in a good place uh but his long game remains stellar the ladder can push him into the mix this week but he will still need his short game to push him over the top and get him into the winner circle i just I don’t know what to think about Taylor other than that he played well here last year and he’s the defending champion yeah I mean the golf course just fits him right he hits it he’s top 10 in driving distance on the PGA Tour he hits it high hits it far um yeah I mean what 261 last year 24 25 26 last year made a ton of birdies conditions will be very similar than what they are yeah I mean it’s just it just is length is going to be a massive uh a massive advantage this week and he just fits that mold of hitting it far and putting average as good as he hit it last year i mean all he had to do is putt average i just don’t think he’s coming into great form this year no uh 35 to1 Ben Griffin um 45 to1 our buddy local boy Wills Allurus it’s early um but not but but not a lot is being talked about at all about Will Xatorus in a season where only a 100 full-time PGA Tour cards will be given out zalator is currently number 88 and without status beyond this season so he’s going into he’s coming into a scary time he’s got his major medical though so he can he can rely on his major medical probably you know I don’t I don’t know how many starts that he has i’m not worried about Will Salurus not getting his card he’s going to get enough starts if he doesn’t on the major medical next year but I also think he’s playing pretty solid to come in and kind of you know navigate th that scenario i’m not worried about Willa i don’t like him this week i again I just don’t think he’s I just don’t think he can make enough birdies he certainly has the length the golf course fits him he’s a hometown guy he’s played here plenty of times i just don’t think he’s got enough birdies in the bag the form that he is in to be able to contend no and to make birdies you got to be able to putt he can’t putt right now that is by far the worst part of his game better but not great no it’s it’s it’s horrible right now uh McKenzie Hughes also 45 to1 rasmus Hoygard also at 45 to1 so there are your odds and I was taking a look at the tea times uh Johnny for for tomorrow for the first round on Thursday so everybody if you’re following along with me as I do each and every Thursday and Friday uh on ESPN Plus where you can go find the featured groups the featured holes uh it is the greatest golf television watching invention and I said it would be when we announced after we heard that it was coming out a few years ago we I was on these airwaves right here and I said “This is going to be amazing i can’t wait for it.” And I was already an ESPN Plus subscriber anyway um but dude it’s saved my butt so many times in the middle of the week on the the first two rounds when there’s absolutely nothing on TV my freaking channel uh Get TV get TV on my local channel here in Dallas quit showing backtoback episodes of Ironside at 11:00 a.m and noon they still show the 11:00 a.m episode but now they have changed the noon episode from another Ironside to that stupid Billy Ray Cyrus9s TV clown show called Doc i learn more I learn more about you every single day that you’re an Ironside fan you sound like Nancy right now dude between Gunsmoke and Laram and uh Wagon Train Tales of Fargo or Wagon Tales of Fargo whatever these deals are and none of them are in P or in color they’re all black and white side is in color sir and she’s seen this every episode a hundred times and she goes into this so intrigued like she’s never seen it it’s like “Mom you’ve seen these every single gun.” I mean uh Bonanza Bonanza i mean it’s just a whole myriad of scheduling behind these uh westerns it’s It just remind me now Ironside she liked Ironside too she likes Ironside i just don’t I don’t think she has enough time to watch it look and so think about Johnny when you and I were little kids like before we were old enough for school right at at least in my house i don’t know about you cuz you never had a candy bar so I still question your youth and how good it was and if there was some child abuse going on there at some point not letting you have candy bars that was that could be considered child abuse um personal choice my mom cleaned houses when I was before I was in school so she had no choice but to take me with her right so anywhere we would go in that house she would plop me down in front of the TV and she would turn it on well in the middle of the day what was going on in the mid70s but you know reruns of shows like Perry Mason Prices Right was on right i would watch some Prices Right um and of course Ironside was still in its first run but it was in syndication by the by the mid70s so shows like that Green Acres um Hogan’s Heroes I watch those um you know all of those that’s just what I was raised on and I still have a soft spot in my heart for all of those shows because it kind of takes me back to my youth and it’s funny the theme the the Ironside theme song to me was terrifying as a kid like when the show would come on I could remember covering my ears cuz I didn’t want to hear the first part of the theme song and by the way Quincy Jones wrote and played the theme song but it had like that fake siren thing with the cartoon of him like getting or the silhouette of the opening sequence of him getting shot that paralyzed him you know on Ironside but it had that fake like siren thing going off and I would I remember covering my ears as a little kid you know because it was scary but um yeah so Perry Mason Perry Mason and Murder she wrote was was the two that was mainstay i was never into Matlock at all i don’t I don’t know why i I never got into that but but we had another channel here called uh Justice Central which used to show like I could watch Ironside at 11 and 12 and then at 1 from 1 to like 4 I could watch four backtoback Perry Masons i’d have to switch over to the Justice Channel then Justice Channel took off all of the Perry Masons and put on like judge shows like Judge Judy or whatever Judge Christine blonde big boob chick whatever i don’t know what they’re called but um so I don’t get any Perry Mason now I got to hunt around on Peacock to go get my Perry Mason and I only get one Ironside now in the day so I rely on ESPN Plus to show me all of the featured groups all of the featured holes so that’s what I do on my Thursdays and Fridays is I’m sitting at my computer writing about NFL garbage in the offseason so yeah um it is what it is but thank God for ESPN Plus memory lane you know you never know they might put Ironside on ESPN Plus if you keep if you keep bitching about it you never know perry Mason so I was going through the uh groupings and the tea times for tomorrow and I found one that intrigues me Johnny as 12:33 central time from the first T we will have Scotty Sheffller Scotty Sheffller Jordan Spe and Sew Kim all in a grouping makes sense all Dallas guys then also at 12:33 teeing off from number 10 at the same time Luke List Matt Wallace and Web Simpson why is that intriguing to you because I like Web Simpson and Luke List i’m a fan i’m a fan that’s all okay okay and they just happen to be teeing off opposite Scott Sheffller Sew Kim and Jordan Spe so pretty random but okay i will tell you one one grouping that I will have zero interest in and if they show any of these guys on my television I might very well either throw something through the screen or just turn hopefully just settle down and turn it off hopefully because if you do that I’ll have to buy a new TV and you’ll I need a new TV and I’ll So please just turn it off please please don’t because at 12:44 Central time off the 10th Tox you will have the mustachioed and the horrible pantsw wearing Eric Vanroyan Monopoly man Francisco Molineri and my new arch nemesis on the PGA Tour Zack Johnson and look I have no hatred for Francisco Molineri he’s just friendly fire stuck between the other two guys that I can’t stand on the two well I don’t know who Molineri is but I know who Molinari is and you know Francisco Molinari he’s just making up names again making up names you know what this is America we’re not in Italy we say Marinara not Marinaria so there i mean he can he I mean you got to pronounce his name right i just did it’s not my fault he pronounces it wrong just because you my job to fix it two M’s and two M’s and your name is easy to pronounce doesn’t mean you can’t you should butcher everybody else’s name i’m not butchering it i’m pronouncing it right it’s not my fault if they get it wrong it’s not my job to correct them call Ironside and see what he says he’s a lawyer ironside is not a lawyer barry Mason is a lawyer oh yeah which one i get him mixed up how can you get him mixed up your mother is so angry at you right now for saying that oh yeah she’s mad nancy I got your back all right ironside was a chief of detectives of the San Francisco Police Department but he was in a wheelchair he got shot and couldn’t be on duty anymore on regular duty so that said duty so they gave him his own little spot in the in the Hall of Justice in San Francisco and his own little team and he was a specialized crime unit that he led was his nickname wheels no oh it was Chief cuz he was the chief of detectives chief Wheels they called him Bigfoot uh uh anyway that’s enough enough debauchery on this show for today uh we’re going to take our last break of the show Johnny and when we come back it’s time to get into how about some winning picks from Johnny how about some dart board picks from Tim and I’m gonna pose the question i want everybody listening to listen very carefully to this question cuz I want your Sports welcome back to From the Ruff right here on fans sports it is Wednesday my dudes which means it is a preview Wednesday as me and PJ of America member Johnny Gerber Gonnie Gerber from Kansas City previewing the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and it’s the time of the show that everybody’s been waiting for no not because of my stupid dart board picks but because of Johnny’s winning picks but Johnny before we went to break I asked you a very important question and I need your answer would you if given the opportunity take a selfie and I know you’re not a big selfie guy no with the the dead pope no interest so for once we agree on something however did you know this is a thing you know the pope just died right you were aware of that i’m not Catholic well I’m not either but I know when the pope dies well I did too i know when he died but so did you know that they had his body laying in state you know open casket right had his all all his dress on and whatever they do to a pope and that is the thousands of people that waited in line to view the casket not only were walking by and doing their whatever you do to the dead pope just about every single person would at the last minute as they’re doing this they get their phone out and they do this with the dead pope behind them like that was the thing that happening at Vatican City isn’t that like super disrespectful and just not for the pope but just any person i mean that’s what I kind of thought and I don’t care about disrespecting anybody and I thought that was disrespectful that was just amazing to me that that was a thing and I mean like I said I’m not Catholic so I’m not offended by it i think it’s kind of funny but I would think that the Vatican would frown upon it but I don’t know i don’t know that’s just where I was going with that so you may hear some more of that on the Colobby Sabini Car Tim show tonight 7 o’clock central right here on Fanstream Sports later tonight wherever you get your podcasts also make sure you subscribe wherever you get your podcast to from the roof and the Colobby Savin Indie Cartoon Show for all of your sports and guy talk and debauchery throughout the week you can also hear us on the Fanstream Sports mobile app that is free to download for iOS and Android but Johnny it is time for at the very least my dart board picks and you have yet to see these right i haven’t seen them and this is what we’re doing but when you said we don’t have crossovers that’s Hey listen everybody that follows us when we don’t have crossovers load up load up yes load up we don’t have crossovers so let me throw mine at you here Johnny for Tim’s 2025 CJ Cup Byron Nelson dart board picks in my top 20 at plus the 280 some guy I just found about that plays golf tyler Jordan speed uh yeah did you ever hear of Jordan Speed no just kidding have you ever heard of Isaiah Celinda yeah very much so you’re familiar with Isaiah Celinda so he apparently you spelled his name wrong what you spelled his first name wrong oh did I well there’s no two A’s in it no there is there absolutely is i S A I A H celinda that is his name it’s Isaiah that’s how you spell Isaiah weirdo do you ever read the Bible hey man let me tell you something real quick whose show is this you might as well cut this off right now cuz I will you think the thunderstorms are bad there in Dallas wait till I get there on Monday you know what I’m going to do just for you i’m going to do this just for you how do you go from the Pope and ask me if I read the Bible well you don’t know who Isaiah is well I know a lot of Isaiah’s but it ain’t spelled that way but I do know who he is so at least I know who he is all right well here I’m pulling this right off of the PGA Tour website sir well you spelled Steven Jagger wrong all the time so I’m just Not this time I didn’t okay there we go okay so look this is straight off of the PJ Tour website isaiah Celinda that’s how you spell Isaiah now that we’ve got that out of the way sir about right by the way you always spell wrong cuz you always put the E before the I no uhuh i before E except after C i know that yeah that’s the only thing I learned the only only lesson I learned in school so my new boy Isaia Celinda he’s always kind of frisky on driver heavy golf courses like this his best finishes on the tour have come at wideopen layouts like this he had a third place at the Mexico Open and a T11 at the Texas Open he’s got a lot of confidence after a top 10 finish last week where his putter caught fire i like him in the top 20 Johnny not terrible uh how about Taylor Moore at plus 650 for a top 10 i thought that was a lot of value he’s doing a lot of good things right now but the results uh are coming with them finally uh he ranks second in total strokes gain 12th in strokes gain ta green 22nd in strokes gain putting in this field the iron play will have to be a little bit better because he’s going to need more birdies but if he can manage that he’s got a chance to grab a top 10 here my boy Taylor Moore and then finally Johnny at 18 to1 it’s Jordan Spath it’s Byron denny Moore’s mom julianne Moore uh it’s Jordan Spath it’s Texas it’s Byron Nelson and it’s 18 to1 why the hell not Jordan Spe you know why not sure that’s where I’m going with you spelled his name wrong but that’s fine did not spell his name wrong well don’t blame me about stuff oh it’s all your fault i know you thought I spelled Isaiah i think Isaiah Pacheco was the only one that spells it like a Is a i or h or something there’s like a missing a in it it’s really weird well I appreciate you saying Pacheco just because I’m in KC you your your your trend in molding is very good isaiah Pachico pachico yeah tapo Chico speaking of cheeks oh Jordan Spith right there jordan Spith and JT right there under our heads uh but now is the time that everybody really cares about it is Johnny’s winning picks right here on From the Rough if you didn’t get them earlier today when we put them out on social media for you now is your chance you will also get Johnny’s full preview right here on From the Rough johnny why don’t you tell us a little bit about your winning picks for the CJ Cup after a little breather last week you know that for every everyone that’s been following us for the last few years and making money we do take last week off it’s just a format we don’t like we do need a breather going into a really cool stretch we are 286 and2 on our matchups after a three or a 4-1 matchup record at the Heritage which I was there on on course plus 2610 for the year but listen hey listen this is a great opportunity for these guys to uh home Dallas guys certainly play well here listen my first guy on the board is see Wu Kim at 27 to1 he’s a home guy he plays and practices at TPC craig Ranch along with Frisco uh I like his form i like how he I I didn’t particularly like how he played at Heritage but he scored he was up there had a chance to had a chance to win had a couple bad swings at Heritage but everyone does but 27 to1 I like him in this spot he knows this golf course better than anybody and he can make birdies in bunches this is what you need here 27 to1 steven Jagger if Tim is not going into the stage room at a boy is that grape juice for the Pope or is that real Jagger i’m doubling up on Steven Jagger stephen Jerger doubling up on Stephen Jagger put us back on the screen so I can read it here put us back on the screen so we don’t watch Everybody doesn’t watch you throw up steven Jagger 35 to1 we watched him last year i think his added length is going to make a a big difference here bulldog mentality what you got to have he’s not going to miss you know even if he does miss a couple fairways he can get a little loose off the tea i just think his added distance is going to serve him well here 35 to1 i love it same 35 to1 with Mackenzie Hughes i don’t know if Mackenzie Hughes can make enough birdies but I know he’s not going to make these mistakes right so he’s going to you know can he make 25 birdies yeah maybe but he’s not going to make mistakes and it wouldn’t surprise me if he doesn’t make a bogey so 35 to1 is great value uh Jake Dirtnap 45 to1 love the way he’s coming off the team championship last week one of the longest guys on the PGA Tour makes a lot of birdies and bunches this is a guy that can make 35 birdies it would really surprise me if he makes very little bogeies all the par fives are in play for him the only rub is there’s only three of them so he’s only going to have 12 opportunities or uh yeah he’s only going to have 12 opportunities as opposed to 18 opportun or uh uh yeah or 16 opportunities my math is off just because you know you got messed up with the pope you’re not math not math but I like I like him in this spot i think he’s trending well i thought he played really good last week in a team format 45 to1 this golf course bombers paradise love him two top 10 picks this week as we always do both two two plus 275 Sam Burns and Ben on uh yeah I don’t know what else to say we talked a little bit earlier i mean Sam Burns is a little bit of a disappointment i think his ball striking certainly is going to come around he’s he’s putting well but if his ball striking comes around with this continued great putting I think he’s got an opportunity to finish in that top 10 i just don’t like him to win the golf tournament i just don’t think his confidence is there but this is the type this is the start the season where he needs to get into gear i think he’s going to make a push for the RER why not start here same with Ben Han i think he’s been in really good form this is an opportunity for a guy that’s number one on the PGA Tour with a field that’s not superstar studded he can make plenty of birdies i like him in this spot plus 275 uh two top 20 picks this week two local guys to the Dallas area davis Riley plus two 275 and Cam Davis plus 300 they’re a little bit polar opposites when you look at it davis Riley’s not going to make a lot of mistakes he’s not not going to make a ton of birdies kind of fits that B mold like Mackenzie Hughes uh to finish in that top 20 i just don’t think he can make enough birdies that’s why we put in the top 20 spot but Cam Davis is going to make a ton of birdies hits it far hits it high uh I just don’t think I We’ll just see if he can eliminate some of those mistakes he can get it long and wrong every once in a while and that’s why we put him in that top 20 spot i need to see more about from Cam Davis to put him in the winner circle but I certainly think that he can make it up birdies and eliminate those mistakes to finish in that top 20 spot so that’s our card this week no crossovers love where we’re at again 286 and two for our matchups plus 2610 profit for the year i know we’re slow on the on the run but I like this week with us not having crossovers i think we’re going to have a great week you can tune in every single Wednesday to your Wednesday morning to your favorite social media channel to find our picks after we post them um on X on Facebook on Threads on Blue Sky on Instagram uh and then we’ll usually
