[Music] welcome to the best country club in Los Angeles welcome to Braar Country Club i used to be a member here and I was a former club champion at this course but it was always a quirky course with the not greatest golf reputation well things have changed [Music] this place is awesome it’s gotten so much better since I used to be here the range spectacular they used to have this double-decker thing it just was a little awkward they’ve redone it it looks beautiful real awesome grass great targets awesome short game area and their practice putting green i love it great size great undulations it’s always been consistent matching the speed of the course so we’ll see i have something special planned for you too it’s a special guest so it’s just going to keep getting better we’re going to have a lot of fun and hopefully not get in too much trouble we’ve probably already gotten in a lot of trouble but it’s you’re worth it so they have 27 holes here at Braar nine of them are being redone as we speak but 18 we’re playing have been redone and the West Course is the newest Lanny Watkins redesign we’re playing with Dre Whitfield he’s an underrated tour player yes sir he just he won an event recently congrats florida and my good friend Dandre his box back to the the scene of the the crime now on the back nine DAR and I have won so many events here over the years too many it’s ridiculous they ran out of room on the trophy they did and on the back nine we’re going to team up for best ball and see if we can relive some of the glory days and shoot the lowest best ball twoman score ever on the West Course i think it’s a done deal we own the record from the previous course for sure but it’s been redesigned so we’re going to set the new one all right here we go coming up in nine holes let’s go let’s get a nine hole warm-up good ball oh that’s dangerous yeah that’s what the mirror is supposed to be for dude that would have scared the daylights out of them [Laughter] drop kicker all right guys we have David Franks here he works here at Braar Country Club with the kids yes sir i oversee the junior program uh PGA professional i teach here in a couple of other locations so excited to have you guys out love it give him a follow i’ll put his stuff down here so you get a good look at both of these awesome courses braar Country Club it’s always been one of the best affordable private memberships in Los Angeles surprisingly it’s incredibly like affordable if you think LA prices for country clubs this place isn’t is usually below what you can imagine goodbye the 39’s here are called and there’s a Masters that’s the one they’re doing redoing right now currently we’re on the US Open and the West is the newest Lanny Watkins redesign here bunker review here i like it good seeing it it’s different than what I remember see if I got a tricky one here i like these bunkers fivestar bunker right here i like them good thanks that should be all right speaking of hole get in the hole it’s how you play it it’s how you play it been here before from what I remember if you part of the part threes out here you’re doing all right yep good ball par five here i’m going to go for it 240 left i got the fivewood liking this track so far yeah I’m liking so far what they’ve done with the changes here on this center course but from what I hear I have not seen it yet the gem of this place right now is the west at least until the Masters gets open this is all new here they add this used to kind of be in front of the green it’s a little weird hole for a par five but now they scooted it over you can go for it riskreward but the risk isn’t as great as it used to be this whole thing runs up this hole david laid up on the red line over here guess that’s the play got a birdie look again turned hard at the end good shot perfect oh I I hit the stick I think thanks i’m trying to get back to my club championship winning playing form but Dre a second give me a second little Dre’s three under already yes he’s got me by two right now so 15year-old putting a beat down on me i didn’t hit it i had it good luck tugged it a little i didn’t hit it again i’m getting it this course it the layout’s the same mostly but those greens are totally different way different they’re nice yeah i love putting on you know greens that you can see what they do and they do what they should yeah there’s so many of these 40y old 50-y old 60-y old courses around where you’re kind of doing such extreme stuff yeah and the greens are the same age yeah exactly yeah run run run chunked it into a hole that’s a good little chunk and run that’s how you play those chunk it this was always a hole skinny hole a lot of trouble short but I’ve seen it devour people it can still do that but man they have made this course so much better than the past did you c you early call me m Did you early call that Dre i just I just said putt i just said “Don’t knocked it out.” Don’t talk to another man’s ball this par three this is a new hole i’ve never played this one you know we It used to be a par four but now they got to put a lake there and made a par three oh wow i didn’t even start it close to him he should yeah he he needs to rest with his demons the guy behind us is not happy but we’re waiting every every hole I think he can see it it’s just too too bad and he’s playing like a a match like a serious match president’s Cup match like a club match play match so he’s stressing cuz he’s got a weigh and he thinks it’s a it’s not us calm down this is a drivable par4 the ninth hole here on the center the US Open course so I’m going to go I’m going to go for it with a mini driver though i hear it runs out a lot that’s a little Oh yeah great shot and I got to get over this bunker yeah good play thank you small job D i have no idea where it’s going to go oh I almost went in you serious snap i thought I I thought it was good i was waiting for you guys to say pick it up pick it up you can still say the same if you want to give me this one pick it up it’s good we thought We thought that was We thought that was for content golly that was good i gave David that birdie putt they didn’t give me mine but I gave him his his These greens you got to know these greens they’re grainy bent grass i love it all right it’s even par i thought I was getting that bogey back but I didn’t all right Dandre I think our target score is going to be three under best ball okay for the the west is the hardest always is the hardest west is tough so um you know but I think we can go four um it’s all of that is getable okay so we just need between us four birdies and no bogeies we got it got it all right do you think 300 400 is realistic i think it is uh the main thing is the greens are newer you know they’re a month old so they’re going to be slow so just be ready to be aggressive on the putting green okay okay my putting hasn’t been that stellar but I feel like we’re close yeah you’ll get there okay you want to do the way we used to and I’ll lead off and then you figure out what this guy yeah how how quickly they forget that was the magic sauce man it was Come on andre hits first then I go so that’s going to be our rotation there it is oh the almost guilty feel it came out of nowhere shot uhhuh great ball thank you perfect this is a cool hole totally different they carved away some They moved the green used to be way up over this tree and they moved it back down here and looks really awesome 160 up here into the wind oh I pulled it come down that’s not even close d’s got 154 it’s a two club wind up there at least pured that oh it’s just short it’s going to roll down that hill too that is a lot of wind up there dude here it comes we got some trouble at hole one i had 160 i hit my 170 club it probably went 150 that’s how much wind was up there craziness got like 30 yards here i got to take it up all right dandre’s hitting three from there i’ll be chipping for par from like right there get all right he has a par putt all right it’s a bogey for our team good effort one over our 400 might be in jeopardy early there’s still golf left to play that’s That’s what they say unfortunately that could be a bad thing you got to bounce back on probably hole four or five you can start to get the birdie train going okay just get a couple of pars on three and four two and three two three four two and three if you par those then you’ve got opportunity after that okay this used to be a par four holy mackerel now it’s this par three we got to go way downhill and the wind oh it’s 20 mph winds all of a sudden 205 playing 170 back into the wind playing 310 we’ll be good stay right there go bunker maybe that was a golf thank you da Andre and I for whatever reason have always been a good ham and egg player so when one of us has a bad hole the other guy just makes it happen it’s been a minute since we played well I mean I moved to Georgia so we got to get our mojo back our ham and ignith so just take a second we’ll do it oh there’s a ridge right there it feeds right down to the hole he just missed it so close stay up par all right we survived this hole that was a solid par thank you you too thank you healthy wind all of a sudden yeah David works here braar but you teach where i teach at the golf development complex which is in Mor Park um and I also teach at the city golf down in Sherman Oaks which is an indoor studio have you seen that one yet no you got to come by and see it it’s a great teacher so if you if you’re in the LA area and need a lesson this is your guy right here i appreciate it thank you ooh that looks pretty good got like 200 yards second shot i’m in the sevenwood here oh look andre has about 160 yards here bomb to drive oh I thought you made it everything is Yeah Dandre brought up a good point all of those uh member member events and stuff that we did was from the white TE’s we’re playing the tips oh we’re two over that’s our target score two over all right so we have another new hole coming up yes is that correct yes exactly so we’ve got a little bit of a drive up the hill to number 14 and it’s an awesome view you won’t recognize it you’re hitting it over some exposed rock ooh to uh it’s a dog leg right way way downhill and you’ve got to watch what you hit off the tea because there’s a creek that’s lined with rocks and so forth about 80 yard from the green so it’s a bit of a riskreward so far most people are laying up i don’t see a lot of um benefit to driving over the creek okay so I’d say we’ll we’ll get a number but somewhere in the 240 to 250 range off of the TE and then you’re just hitting a wedge from there to an elevated green shot great all right I have 102 a lot of wind lot of wind i’m putting Dre’s got like 90 all right he’s putting two shot dre go in one time good bird Dre thank you don’t do that again just check it all right all right our charge has begun goodbye thanks Oh I get two of them sweet oh god all of a sudden go hit it when you let someone play through this FI the correct etiquette is if you’re the one playing through hurry up don’t rumage through your golf bag tie your shoe grab a bite of your sandwich and then hit just run up and hit right yeah one practice swing maximum don’t even do Yeah one max but hey it’s a beautiful day it is a beautiful day so we’re we’re not in a hurry the guy ahead of us you know he can do whatever he wants to do and he did that oh my god dandre’s hitting his third up to the four five yeah that could be pretty good all right just short dandre’s chipping i have a birdie look so we’re scrapping and clawing here this is a great looking green they really made this hole cool it’s similar but new green new bunkering new opportunity great play good one nice touch it felt like you slam that didn’t you i killed it yeah great ball wait so you’re supposed to squeeze it the tightest up there you go great ball thanks so So that’s par four par four i have two 220 left it’s all uphill all into the wind wow that felt like it went way right soon as I looked up I looked right into the sun get over what oh great shot such a good roll thought you made it where’s this birdie run supposed to happen right now right now starts now starts now okay 789 78 we only have We’re two over that’s a twoman best ball it’s a bad look you got this all right you’re doing good though you’re like 200 on this side aren’t you uh yeah I think so i should have picked David out of my card don’t tell Dre we’ll have to do another one yeah we’ll do it next time good ball good swing all right DARE going he’s just got maybe like 50 yards 50 60 yards here put one tight nope we’ll edit that out hey oh you’re up third i forgot i didn’t see your turn nice little pinch up there good play awesome closest two Dre for uh for what what what do you got 10 bucks 10 bucks all right i’ll do five bucks oh he dropped it five bucks okay that’s pretty close that’s pretty close uhoh no that’s good but not good enough i’ll take your money good birdie all right thanks we got one back all right you were right luggage’s open i got a birdie you got a birdie good drive thank you i’m always right i don’t know if you knew that about me you Yeah no I’m I’m finding out we’re up there do we tee up here well okay so the markers are up we can play either way they’ve got uh Oh which one’s better this is where it’s designed to be yeah it’s a cool shot it’s a really cool shot so double or nothing you went all right so Dre Dre wants double or nothing i’ll give him a chance to win his money back we’re going to go closest to the pin it’s a par4 so after two shots he’s ever closer to the pin dang it dude this Where’s your phone all right do it if you like shank it out of bounds then it counts it’s automatic and then you’re hitting your third it’s your Yeah you’re done so be careful that’s fine that’ll work perfect easy girl stay right there you’re good yep yep yep good shot fix it clean sit get in the bunker get in the bunker all right this is for closest to two i have 83 he’s probably got about 110 downwind tricky shot hit it pretty cleanly though he’s on is he on it’s not on it’s on the fringe so green light special for me i got to carry this 80 oh no oh it kicked off the back neither of us are on wow i think mine’s a lot closer all right the next hole is a par three we’re going triple or nothing or we’re going to push it all right since nobody hit and we didn’t call it we’re going to push it mine was a better shot though i’m on the green oh get there a little furry pseudo all right my teammate has a birdie putt here let’s try and free him up oh thought he made it well we’re um we’re still one over Dre we got to get one birdie to at least finish even from the tips on a course well I’ve never seen before dre’s played it once david almost got his fourth birdie on this side so he’s doing okay final hole here this used to be a par4 they turned it into this cool looking par three dandre and I need a birdie to finish even par and then Dre has to get it closer to the pin than me to not lose all his money that’s how it works so land a little short let it kick toward the hole y it looks like it breaks left a little oh come back david called it perfectly yeah I was trying to take a more off of it good swing what’ you hit wedge yeah hit a little wedge a little little knock downer oh but we we don’t we didn’t ever call you have to hit the green and I don’t hate it well lasso we we pushed because neither of us hit the green so I thought that was like Oh do you have to hit the green i thought that’s what we were saying oh we never said that i thought I thought I thought that’s what it was but you know you have to hit the green I think so I think you got to be on the green oh okay you got to be on all right so you hit the green you win okay kind of like long drive where you got to be like in the grid i’m just If you bump my ball and it comes on then it it counts you’re trying to play pool okay just so be careful of that one yeah it’s like hitting the uh the a bowl yeah i mean you’ve choked a couple today so don’t even think about that i don’t think I have actually i don’t think I’ve hit any games uhoh it’s gone that’s not Oh oh my gosh what’d you hit eight iron pitching wedge i had shot that that might be out of place i guess they’re pushing again that’s my partner right there oh come on get in go in oh come down oh that’s close come down oh here it here it is is it going in andre almost aced it dude i think we got a team birdie wow all right Dre and I are doing it again we We both missed the green mhm um that’s that’s on me right there you want to close to the pen we’re still doing triple still triple or nothing right triple or nothing still triple or nothing it’s done is this against your underrated contract to gamble don’t think Don’t think about that what was that Matt does this violate his underrated um privileges gambling on the golf course uhoh am I going to get a good kick here right you’re short oh I’m way short short all right i don’t have the right club by the way at all i hit that good too all right i’m giving him all the chances in the world okay Dre all you got to do is hit the green here dude all you got to do is hit the Well you Well all right you know what I mean i missed the green twi twice Dre from like 130 so come on if Mr short game can miss it twice did he do it he did do what I did did he do it did he carry it oh oh he did it good job good job let’s go man you get a 15-year-old swinging for $15 he’s nervous yeah yeah but better learn to deal with it now than later right yeah i’m helping him good shot Dave dave’s going to make his fourth birdie of the nine four or five uh I think four four you can’t even keep track dandre’s close dandre is a kicking that was a good shot all right we’re even par on our um challenge which All right little kicking birdie bam oh we thought he was going to make a hole in one right there dude that was I was like “Oh I did it i did number two right on camera.” Braar Country Club there you go
