Mizuno Morelia Neo 4 ‘Ruby Red Pack’ — Celebrating 40 Years of Morelia The first impression of wearing the Mizuno Morelia Neo 4 Elite AG was a “snug and unified fit that felt very comfortable.” The forefoot upper is made from premium kangaroo leather, the same leather used in previous Morelia Neo models. It felt soft overall with a plush thickness.Although it felt tight at first, the leather quickly molded to the foot after a few wears. The midfoot upper features synthetic leather, which is firmer and more structured than the kangaroo leather on the toe box, helping to maintain the shape of the soccer shoes. The overall last follows the same shape as previous Morelia Neo models, and it provides the signature snug, unified comfort that the Neo line is known for. A separate tongue design is applied on the top of the foot. The tongue is made thin and does not include cushioning. At the heel, an external heel counter is used, with synthetic leather like the midfoot for solid foot containment. The interior lining is made from slightly rough suede, and it includes some padding, offering moderate cushioning. However, the heel cushioning wasn’t particularly noticeable. One minor downside was that the heel felt slightly low.It didn’t cause discomfort or a lack of hold, but it was a personal point of slight dissatisfaction — though not an issue in actual performance. The standard insole provided is the ZeroGlide Lite insole, featuring suede on the top surface. It’s lightweight and doesn’t offer much cushioning. The AG outsole on this Ruby Red Pack edition is Mizuno’s newly designed artificial grass soleplate. Compared to the AG outsole on the previously worn Morelia Proto Japan, which used an internal heel counter, the Neo 4’s external heel counter offered better heel stability. Additionally, the spacing between the heel studs is now slightly wider, contributing to better balance and a more stable base underfoot. The studs remain in the traditional rounded shape, with a standard length. The AG version was tested on both well-maintained artificial turf and typical artificial grass fields. In both environments, the fit felt stable, and the traction was solid, with no noticeable slippage.Unless the field is extremely flat and carpet-like, these soccer shoes are suitable for most artificial grass pitches. When taking shots, there was no noticeable power loss. However, the shoes themselves didn’t feel especially “powerful.” The ball contact felt more cushioned, like from a thicker upper rather than a thin one. While you may not feel extra force added to shots, the kangaroo leather’s soft touch against the foot was very satisfying. During passing and receiving, the ball touch felt excellent.Rather than bouncing the ball off, it absorbed the impact — giving a classic, controlled touch. The Morelia Neo 4 Elite offers that traditional feel that only natural leather soccer shoes can provide. In dribbling, the soccer shoes felt light, which helped with fast and precise ball control. The external heel counter also contributed to a closer fit, which made them feel secure during sprints as well. This review was written by a tester with a foot length of 10.5 inches and a width of 3.9 inches, who usually wears US 9.5 in Nike, and US 9 in Adidas and Puma. For this test, they wore US 9, and the sizing was spot on.It felt a bit tight at first, but quickly adjusted to their foot, delivering a satisfying fit. Therefore, it’s recommended to go with your usual size in the Morelia Neo line. We hope this hands-on review, tested and written by a reviewer from allthatboots, helps you make a successful soccer shoe purchase.
