I tested the Pinned Caddie, a $450 golf GPS tablet that just won Best New Product at the PGA Show.
In this video, I compare it to my golf watch, cart GPS, and a rangefinder to see how accurate and useful it really is — and if it’s worth it.

earlier this year i patrolled the 2025 pga show and this won best new golf product now i have it in hand to see if it actually deserves that award and stick around cuz i’m going to compare this gps device to my watch gps cart gps and a rangefinder let’s go this is the caddy by pinned golf it’s a portable magnetic gps device preloaded with over 45,000 courses it’s weatherproof has gorilla glass and it’ll give you a 360° view of every hole that you’re playing you’re supposed to be able to keep your stats in here you can play games with your buddies like stroke play and match play and it has a 54 whole battery life so three rounds it’s 450 bucks us but they gave me a discount code for 15% off i’ll put a link to that in the description of this video my biggest pet peeve is when you go to a golf course especially one you’ve never played before and they don’t have gps in the cart well the caddy seems to be solving that problem i think there’s still a lot of golfers out there that don’t use a gps watch they don’t use a rangefinder they’d rather see the big visuals and i think that this might actually offer a pretty good solution to those golfers that don’t have either a watch or a rangefinder so we’re doing this test at country hills golf course in calgary alberta that’s my home course the first test is the caddy versus the cart gps so the cart gps says 138 middle 118 front 156 back the caddy has 138 middle 118 front 157 back so the 157 is only one yard different from what the cart says then if i compare it to my watch my watch says 133 middle 115 front 151 back so if anything my watch seems to be less accurate than both of these but we’ll take it to the t- box and see if we can hunt the pin here’s what to expect if you get the pin you get this nice little box says the future of golf has arrived when we open it up say hello to the future of golf i’ve obviously already opened the caddy comes in this nice little magnetic box and an accessory that they give you that is super underrated is the charging cable and the block i review so much tech and everyone gives you the cable no one gives you the block i’m always charging my phone or my laptop or my watch or my speaker and i’m running out of block so thank you pin for including the block it comes in this nice little carrying case it’s actually a little heavier than i was anticipating but this nice little case is perfect to just travel if you take it to the golf club you can just throw it in your bag and super easy carrying and then it’s a tablet so super easy also came with instructions so when i did get this i had to turn it on i had to fill in all my personal information build my account enter my handicap and pick my home course now this is super important to know that the courses are not preloaded on here it comes with 45,000 different courses but you have to download them when i turn this on for the very first time there was a battery percentage of about 28% the first notification i got it says i need to run a software update to do the software update you need 30% battery so i had to plug it in charge it till it got to 30% then i ran the update the update took about 10 to 15 minutes it would be normal for like your iphone or your android to run a software update so very similar with the caddy once the update was complete then i can enter my personal information i could name this brandon’s caddy i enter my handicap the courses that i play how often i play kind of go through their questionnaire once all that’s complete then i’m ready to start downloading courses now that we’re all set up let’s go back to the course we’re standing on a par three the pinned caddy is saying 154 middle my watch says 149 middle now i’m going to shoot it with the rangefinder and see how that compares i shot the flag and it says 152 so the website says plus or minus one yard and i would say that’s pretty accurate for it to be within 2 yards of a rangefinder i think it’s pretty good so far i mean you could bring your ipad to the golf course upload your favorite gps software to that then you got to lug it around the card i looked on amazon i couldn’t find any magnetic backing cases i think it would be more annoying using your ipad you could also use your phone i’m sure a lot of people use their phone but then you got email notifications coming up and you’re checking facebook and you’re getting text messages and then you’re you even further drawn away from the game that you’re playing so i think actually having the caddy because it is golf specific i think it is actually a pretty decent device and i think it is pretty handy i’m on kind of a tough par 44 and i want to find out just how far the 150 marker is on my watch i can easily find out it pulls it up right away that i got 267 to the 150 marker on the caddy i have to touch around on the fairway until i can find the 150 in there’s no number or floating icon that will give me the 150 right away so i have to keep kind of keep playing around until i see how far 150 in is it’s about where are you 150 so this already is a little annoying so i got 148 272 268 so again i would say it’s within reason i find it’s just a little tougher to find using the caddy if you’re like me and you like a little side action on your game the caddy can keep track of stroke play and match play you can just enter your players names enter their handicap it does all the math for you so i really like that feature the one thing i’m not a big fan of is the graphics i feel like any new tech in 2025 should have really nice graphics this doesn’t wow me it does give you the accurate numbers we found but the graphics me so does the caddy deserve the title best new product 2025 well if you’re a weekend golfer that golfs places that doesn’t have gps i would say that it makes a really strong case it’s not meant to replace a rangefinder it’s not meant to replace a golf watch if you’re someone that likes the big visuals of seeing the golf hole and you can take it to any golf course that you want i would say yes it is a really good buy if you guys are thinking about picking one of these up i have a 15% discount code and i will link that in the description of this video thanks for watching we’ll check in with you guys next time [Music] [Music]

How is the screen visibility in the sun?
Seems like it’s just app. Doesn’t really need to be a whole device on its own.
