the Travelers Championship is here we’re going to TPC River Highlands welcome everyone to Tea Time i am Andy Lang joined as always by my fellow golf betting expert Nick Borman coming off an incredible major Nick um I did not have JJ Spawn i don’t know anybody that did um uh getting up at 3:00 a.m to go get your child allergy medicine and then winning a major is that the peak of uh the It doesn’t get better than that does it like it it how how could you beat that it’s the golfer of the year it is I don’t care about Scotty Sheffler jj Spawn is the golfer of the year what was your reaction father of the year golfer of the year it’s incredible what was your takeaways uh from the major brutal man it was uh Sunday watching those last five groups it was a blood bath just everybody coming back like we see sometimes with these majors you get out early you post a number rom back doors a tie for seven finish rory back doors a top 20 finish those guys were I mean R was you know in contention a little bit early but Maroy was nowhere so anyway it was you know you hear all sorts of things about the conditions and should they have been playing and should San Bernza got relief and blah blah blah but uh it was it was tough it was cool to see that they just kept going through it they had the rain on off on off so so many factors to deal with and the stress of that golf course and the best in the world struggle but golf is hard and and that place uh really showed how difficult it can be and it wasn’t even firm i mean because it was it was so wet you imagine that place getting a little firm justin Thomas said that if this place got even a little firm forget about it but uh ready to move on and maybe get these guys back into some good golf scoring and we’ll see uh this this this course usually does that for us yeah agreed this course is going to wield a lot of birdies we’re going to get into that in just a second but uh as always we start with our one and done um kind of embarrassing both of our guys missed the cut we went we we joined the live tour we said we joined the lib i had walking nean nick had price and dei i did not have Carlos Otis correct uh we should have uh didn’t see that one coming so yeah no updates on last week’s one and done we move on nick I’m going to Victor Havlin i think he’s found something third 25th 28th the last three weeks um it appears that he’s fixed some parts of his game and when we’re getting down to kind of the nitty-gritty I’m looking for guys that I haven’t used before there was a there’s a couple guys that are really coming around and they’re peing at the right time of the year we’ll talk about a couple of them i think Havlin might be one of them so uh I thought he played great last week and if uh that guy can just be average at his short game I think we get a good finish from him so this is a no cut tournament so I you know we’re guaranteed four rounds on everybody i will go with Victor Havlin and I’ll play the hot hand think he’s uh I think he’s on the the the right trend up who you got for one and done yeah it’s good to see Victor back in the action and playing well um I always get a little concerned coming off especially Oakmont anybody in true contention there how much did they have left in the tank but 63 of the 72 were in the field last week i mean everybody got beat the hell up so maybe it’s not a huge huge deal uh you said you’re going to play a guy that’s you know right there you know coming around well I’m going to go with a guy that has come around and just hope he can sustain it ben Griffin he’s probably the only guy uh behind Scotty Sheffler in current form right now four straight top 10s uh he did play Oakmont obviously another top 10 but he was off the week prior so a little extra rest there I guess versus guys that are now playing three or four weeks in a row but there’s not much else to be said he’s his true form is great uh there’s no I mean the course history here is not good he’s only played twice a cut and a 67th but the way he is and where he’s come from what he’s done in the last few years really doesn’t matter it’s all about who he is now so I love the way he’s playing i love how good he’s getting strokes across all five categories he’s putting ridiculously well t game is solid approach game is solid there’s no weakness right now around the green is solid so I’m going to hope it continues one week he’ll all of a sudden miss the cut and it’ll level the level the odds and the playing field on him but I’m going to ride him one more time i think Ben Griffin’s going to have another solid week all right Ben Griffin and Victor Havlin your one and done let’s take a look at the course here tbc River Highlands this is going to play as a par 70 not very long 6,840 yards kind of narrow uh there are a lot of trees there’s only a couple holes where water is going to be in uh in play greens are a little bit small and honestly Nick this just comes down to a hot putter I think um this isn’t a course i mean everyone’s going to be able to to to utilize their length off the tea so I don’t think the bombers are going to have that big of a difference i think the score is going to be around minus 20 um and I think the weather is going to be pretty decent here so to me that says hit your fairways and then most guys are going to have no problem hitting greens then it comes down to who’s putting good and sometimes we can see some surprises when it comes down to just getting a hot putter but the cream rises to the top i mean look at last year you know Sheffller wins this one tom Kim Sunj M uh Tom Hogi Tony Fenow Batia Justin Thomas Kentlay Cameron Young Brian Harmon uh those are your guys that were inside top uh Shane Lowry was there as well so I don’t think it’s that demanding of a course i think this is going to be a nice little a nice little break for the guys as opposed to getting their asses kicked last week on a completely difficult course so um not much to it it’s a beautiful course there’s a there’s a couple of really really cool holes in there so what’s your take on TBC River Highlands complete light switch flip from last week for sure for these guys uh we do have course history to look at so you can start there you can go back the last six seven eight years that what everything’s relative 42nd time it’s being played here so that’s nice um I mentioned already 63 of the 72 in the field this week played at Oakmont is there a benefit to those that missed the cut maybe and just did not have to grind through that weekend you know I tend to think so but aside from that uh you know it’s trying to find out who’s got a little bit of history here i again like as I mentioned with Griffin some guys I think current form even JJ Spawn will trump any history like last week will trump any history that you have so you got to take that in consideration but the golf course you’re going from Oakmont was the hardest par 70 uh since Shinik Hills in 2018 okay and now this deep river Highlands was the easiest par 70 last season so 6,800 yards you don’t see that very often you don’t see sub7,000 very often on the PGA Tour so this is not a length course not needed you mentioned low scores yeah 22 under one it last year i think 23 was the year prior Keegan Bradley so you’re going to get need a lot of birdies it’s going to be a complete different uh attack and and got and playing approach this week than it was last week where you’re just like gosh get in the fairway and hope to God here you can miss a little bit they they do I have read that um according to pjour.com that they are letting the rough grow a little bit this week four and a half inches which is kind of long for this place so I don’t know exactly how that’ll affect the overall score it’s still an easier golf course there’s still not as much penalty around the greens like you saw at Oakman so I don’t think it’s going to go from 22 under to 10 under but maybe it struggles to eclipse the 20 under because the rough’s a little longer i I don’t know it’s still probably going to be pretty low uh but that’s it i mean I don’t have a whole much on it the weather looks very good for all four days it’s hot it’s about 90 degrees upper 80s 90 degrees each day rain not really an issue a little bit of rain leading up to the tournament make softer conditions early on and then winds are at their highest on Thursday 10 20 miles an hour to kind of start and then it kind of slows down from there i don’t know if that really gives any sort of a advantage you know what I’m saying on on the Wednesday or excuse me the Thursday Friday tea times but uh that’s what the weather looks like right now anything it’s softer on Thursday but it’s also windier on Thursday and that just gets harder as the day goes on so I I don’t really think it has a huge effect there uh but that’s that’s really all I have here on this course yeah we always talk about the favorite hole this one’s an obvious one the 15th the 296 yard par4 it’s a drivable par4 water on the left so you got to be careful you can’t can’t can’t duck hook one because it will find it will find the water i like the green it’s kind of a crown so there’s a lot of runoff area and it really tests the short game so it’s a very very birdieable hole but your short game’s got to be on because it is difficult to get the ball to land on the green now you land on the green you’re you’re looking uh looking at birdie but it’s got several tiers so just because it lands on the green doesn’t guarantee a two putt but uh it’s a really fun hole i love these drivable par4s some of these guys are going to use 3-wood uh like Rory Rory’s not going to be hitting driver on this one it’s going to be too long so uh 3-wood uh off the tea and then uh try and get up and down for birdie it’s a great hole a lot of fans g get on this hole so uh that’s a good one and then 18th hole rating it’s kind of a hoham vanilla hole i give it a 4.6 440 yard par4 there’s not much to this one shorter par4 it’s going to yield a lot of pars this week fairway bunkers on the left and right most of these guys are going to pretty easily clear the bunker on the right uh they’re going to fly this thing in the air the one on the left isn’t too difficult to get out of now the green does have bunkers short and uh couple on the right so the easy play is aim for the left side of the green to putt and get your par so uh these guys are going to have a short iron or a wedge coming into the approach if they hit it in the fairway so not too difficult doesn’t create much drama i give it a 4.6 not high on the uh on the list of cool 18th holes that they’ll play this season let’s take a look at total strokes gained this is a no cut field so we’re going to have four rounds of all these guys Nick so let’s take a look at the total strokes gained big field a lot of the same names we saw last week here walk us through this chart and what’s your big takeaways i love how your favorite hole is at 296 yard par4 three five yards shorter than the uh number eight par three out of par three yes last week um yeah this is very similar to last week’s top 10 minus the live guys obviously not in the field of PJ tour events so we got a couple of guys that have replaced them but Scotty clearly leads the way uh Rory yeah he’s second here but we know the form he’s been in I I would not consider his top 20 last week any sort of indication that he’s ready to get back and grind I think everybody’s kind of waiting to see what happens when he moves back uh over to the to to England or Scotland and get to the Scottish Open before the Open Championship but so otherwise he’s probably in a void but Morava steady as it goes uh do you what’s your feel on Schoffley is he another good week solid week is is he he’s getting there to that point where we should be betting him again um it depends on the matchup but uh I was looking at him top 20 actually this week um yeah he’s he’s he’s getting there uh it’s one of those where now that if if you’re talking about guys that benefit the most from this new change where the championship they don’t start like with the the the big the the strokes you know like the leader starts with like a two-stroke they all just start even i would like to be in Shaley’s shoes where he’s peing at the right time this is a guy that’s worked through his injury i like him is he what he was at his peak last year no but is he getting there yeah yeah and he’s got really good course history at the final tournaments of the year so this is a guy I want to be betting on uh Victor Havlin’s another one uh we’ll get to Cameron Young uh but yeah I’m in on Schoffley i I’m in on Shley i start I think he’s starting to be trustworthy yeah and I agree and and while 16 to1 as you see on the screen for best odds I found so far doesn’t seem that great a value on him he was down in the 12 to1 range 11 to1 you know as he was winning last year and he was 20 to1 last week so I think there’s still a little bit of value there and getting him before he really starts contending he’s getting good finishes he just hasn’t been in true true contention and that’s coming so better number you’re going to get now than you’re probably going to get here as we move forward if you haven’t if you don’t know by now Andy and I just cannot touch that guy uh he did have a bad week at least we were right about last week Andy we didn’t touch him he didn’t play well uh Tommy Fleet was usually steady as they go jt very surprised last week i expected more out of him i would expect him to bounce right back these are the type of events these signature events no cut limited field where he just shoots that 162 and all of a sudden he’s going to be there all week he tends to do that pretty often uh solid week from Russell last week another guy no length needed here fits him perfectly um Hideki Matsiano cory Connors is not playing he goes on the bottom of this list because he was in the top 10 but he he is officially out um with whatever I guess wrist injury he had that he withdrew uh at the US Open so disregard him and then you got uh the notables which I think are you know some of the hottest guys out there obviously JJ Spana had to put in there uh I don’t think either one of us are expecting a lot from him this week same with me personally with Sam Burns i mean he had it in his hand and and that disappointment and that grind at the end i don’t know how much he’s gonna have left in the tank even with Adam Scott to be honest not in the graphic but same kind of position and Ben Griffin I already talked about on the one and done i like him a lot this week he’s clearly uh one of the best in the in the world as far as his play over the last six weeks so we’ll see if that continues but uh I last week was only the second time this season that the winner did not come from the top 10 graphic as far as signatures and majors and this is now number eight plus 30 this is number 11 so only two out of 10 have not come from the graph but eight out of 10 have and you can see 30 of 44 since the beginning of 2023 so you got 68% of winners in this top 10 seems likely it’s going to happen again yeah um I was going to just add a few things to this guys that have finished top 10 in their last two tournaments it’s Scotty Sheoffller it’s Cameron Young it’s Russell Henley it’s Sam Burns and it’s Ben Griffin like golf is a funny funny sport man and the books just the books really have troubles lining these guys with some of these prices to win and you know some of these guys I’m not really sure that they even know what to do with i mean Rory miscut 19th this is the guy that they keep putting as the second favorite to win and this guy’s not even getting close uh to to winning some of these but can you imagine if they hung a 40 to1 number on Rory i mean that would have so much and they make you kill him because he’s not winning he’s not gonna win he even tells me he’s not going to win he’s I’m not focused i won the career grand slam so yeah some of those guys uh I did want to bring up uh while we’re doing this uh Cameron Young um I I almost picked him in um in the one and done uh three of his three best finishes of the year have come in his last five tournaments and this guy’s finished fourth and fourth and you know how it goes Nick these guys going good funks and bad funks and uh Cameron Young is all of a sudden he’s showing what his peak is do we keep riding him plus 130 to finish top 20 what do you think about Yeah i mean listen I was riding the heck out of him in 2022 uh when he was finishing runner up at basically every major kind of when he kind of burst onto the scene the win was coming now we fast forward four years three years it’s still not there i mean gosh at least now we’re finally seeing because you’re right the last basically 12 months uh has been pretty rough for him so seeing this flashback you know it’s there he’s contended so much he’s eventually going to win so I would ride the hot hands um yeah he finished tied for fourth last week i guess he did work his way into the back nine in content he was within a shot i don’t know if he was ever tied for the lead or not on that back nine but will he have any hangover type of effect i don’t know uh but he’s he’s I don’t think he I I don’t think it’s anything that’s going to linger with him only because it’s more like hey I’m playing very very well right now let’s continue to ride that and I think that mindset will overpower any any tiredness he may have top 10 finisher last year too worth noting yeah yeah i think some of these guys that’s where the value is uh this week I saw on DraftKings Scotty Sheffller’s minus 300 over Moriawa and on the uh on the non-legals minus 275 against Rory and guess what i I would play that i I would I would 100% play that or use it as a parlay piece all right let’s move on to players that can trip you up these are players that I think people are going to play and I’m here to tell you just be be be careful with this one i’m going back to Patrick Kentlay strong course history here uh back-to-back really good finishes but man his current form Nick is just it’s just bad he’s missed the cut last week he ranks outside the top 30 in total strokes gained in the last month his driving accuracy has been off around the green play is not very good and that’s two key areas that you’re going to need to to have really really good success on because this is going to be a birdie fest you’re going to have to be around the minus 20 mark to compete for a win and Patrick Canley is just not a guy that I’m going to trust despite his course history here uh going right back to Roy Moy how that guy snuck in a top 20 finish is beyond belief he was awful uh he was he was truly bad salvaged the 19th place finish but he was like on the cutline for the first two rounds uh openly what is this thing with not talking to the media and then you shoot minus three when you go out in the morning on the last day and nobody’s paying attention and now you do a little interview with the media like give me a break he even says I’m not that focused after winning the career grand slam um by the way what he and Lowry did you happen to be watching those feature groups Nick did you see him and Lowry on Friday rory’s out there destroying T- boxes with his driver when he hit Wayward’s drive lowry’s just cussing at the course um Lowry picks up his ball without marking it like the it was I mean it it looked like you and me drinking a case of beer on the course what was going on with those guys it’s just not a guy that I can trust uh right now so Rory is a complete stay away from me again if I get any type of decent matchup I’m I’m fading him so uh and then we’re going to Colin Moriawa his ball striking is great this man put on the worst putting performance you have ever seen in your life and I know this because I had Colin Moriawa against Rory Maroy and somehow he lost by one this guy three putted from four feet away missed multiple short putts and this is a course where you have to putt good he’s minus0.46 strokes putting over the last 30 days nick that is insanely bad and you just cannot contend here if you’re not putting the ball well it’s been his Achilles heel basically his entire career if that guy can pull a Scotty shuffler and and just get decent at putting he doesn’t have to be great at putting just decent at putting this guy’s going to be contending at majors but until he fixes it it it’s just you can’t trust that guy so Patrick Klay Roy Moy and Colin Mory Kawwa those are three players that I think can trip you up let’s move on to your favorite favorite before we do that Nick tell everyone what you have up at wager talk.com for clients sure right now we have the summer soccer tournaments going on so we got the FIFA Club World Cup and then we got the uh Gold Cup um going on that’s the national tournament with with like USA Mexico the the North American teams Central American teams anyway uh so those those plays are up and available on my page uh there’s plays every single day it’s kind of like the World Cup setup uh for the next three to four weeks still left in that tournament and then MLS in full swing and uh basically every single weekend they’re going to take a break in the next couple of weeks for their leagues cup tournament that they did last summer as well um so there’s a lot of good summer go soccer tournaments you can get those plays over at my page at Wager Talk and of course this week’s golf pack is up and available for this tournament as well uh Andy yes so well I I’m assuming we’re ready to go let’s do my favorite favorite i don’t know if you wanted to yeah let’s do your favorite favorite and normally I know what all these are normally I check all the me i don’t know what these are so I’m really excited what’s your favorite favorite for uh for this week well I asked you about them already i think that was my cue to you to see well let me see if Andy agrees with me or not it’s it’s Xander uh yes i like I like Xander this week i mentioned the number i think again 16 to one you look at it by itself maybe not the best but if you look at it comparatively to where he was last year and where he could be if he starts really getting his results together I think it’s a little bit of value there probably in the 12 to1 neighborhood is where I’d put him um you know if he plays another good week or two so quietly quietly finished tie for 12th last week at Oakmont i would argue he did not have the stress of any of the top 10 players he really wasn’t in contention to win he rather he he saved his best round for Sunday and he kind of jumped up the leader board well ahead of the leaders so I don’t see any sort of like lingering hangover like I might expect to see from those top guys this week even though he had a good finish that’s his six top 25 finish in his last seven starts again quietly his lone miss was only a tie for 28th at the PGA Championship so the consistency is there he’s still got his ridiculously long cut streak uh intact despite the slow start to this season you know following that rib injury so no matter what he’s still doing his X thing he’s grinding he’s making the weekend not an issue this week like as Andy mentioned everybody’s making it but uh worth saying that this guy never gives up and he’ll play four rounds and grind it out and get a result uh great course history here one in 2022 that was among five top 20 finishes here in six starts he has putted absolutely insane here Andy in uh the last three years at at this course he’s com uh combined and gained a cumulative plus 20 strokes gain putting just putting over the rest of the field so there’s one guy that knows these greens and loves these greens and is comfortable on these greens it’s him combine that with you know what seems to be a CD Green game going rounding really into form i just I just see this coming to to to a beautiful combination here sooner rather than later and why not take a chance this week at 16 and one so I think Xander of the favorites those guys up in that top five six odds range i like his number and I like his price this this week better than anybody else as far as getting a little bit of value love it yeah yeah this is a guy I want to bet on moving forward so uh love that play uh this week so uh what do we have up at Wager Talk we got a cricket play that’s up on Tuesday so if you’re watching this on Tuesday uh go ahead and uh grab that we’re 20 and nine in our last 29 cricket plays and uh it’s Major League Cricket season we’ve hit our last two um so if you’re watching this on Tuesday grab grab grab the cricket play major League Cricket is a cash cow i’m learning this uh Nick we brought in a cricket uh a cricket expert to do all of our cricket plays and the bankroll is bankroll is seeing the results on this one so uh grab cricket and we also have a UFC and PFL best bet that is up uh the cards are are pretty good um not a not a lot of great spots but the spots that are really good are just fantastic so we put them in a parlay and that’s available up at Wager Talk we’re very low volume this week um we’re going to have a few golf plays but really uh we’re looking to cash on cricket we’re looking to cash in UFC and PFL so those are up at wageralk.com and if you guys could hit the like button it really helps us out leave a comment you guys did amazing in the comment section last week a lot of great comments so tell us who you like this week tell us who you don’t like this week and um you know tell us tell us you’re one and done or something but and also if you have not subscribed to the channel make sure you do that join the Wager Talk family well over 200,000 subscribers so you get notified when all these shows go live you get notified when all these shows uh get posted we got breakdown videos on all kinds of uh games MLB we’re going to break down the last NBA Finals game hopefully it’s not the last NBA Finals game hopefully my Pacers can mir miraculously extend it but you’re going to get notified when all those videos come up so like and subscribe appreciate you guys and uh leave a comment as well let’s go to DraftKings Darlings uh Nick my lineup was pretty bad last week broke our winning streak so we look to get back on track still easily my best year in DFS um these are guys that you can put in DFS i would look at some other ways to bet these guys um Austin Ecroed at 6100 he’s made the cut in four straight tournaments and he’s finished 27th and 24th here the last two years so this price is like way too good to pass up no cut so I’m going to get four rounds of everybody and I get four rounds of Austin Necro that of course he’s really good at uh I’ll take it at 6100 dietri is another guy Nick kind of in this category of these guys that are playing really well that are off the beaten path here made the cut in five out of the last six tournaments his numbers he’s plus strokes gained in all the main categories the last month he has better total strokes gained in the last month than Patrick Kentlay Shane Lowry and Jason Day and I’m getting him at 6,800 yes please i’ll take that one and here’s here’s my favorite one of the week Nick and you can chime chime in on him ryan Fox at 7,000 last five tournaments he has two wins so that’s good a 28th a 29th and a 19th that 19th at the US Open we This is a guy we cannot ignore his his recent form the last month he’s seventh in this field in total strokes gained so this price is great uh Ryan Fox comes from a very very athletic family if you don’t know his story I believe his dad was a professional rugby player um so this guy’s got the athletic pedigree and uh he can hit the ball a mile if you watch the uh Nick if you watch the the playoff where it was him and Sam Burns they kept having to play that 18th hole he was crushing the ball past Burns like on on their drive he was he was smoking it and uh his length got him that win because he was able to go for the green in two so this is a guy that’s playing great so Ecro Dietri and Fox those are my DraftKings darlings and uh as always free dig free digital download free article is up on my page wt.buzzal buzzal gives you all the writeups on uh the course history all the players that can trip you up all the DraftKings darlings and it gives you my final lineup in DFS like I said it’s easily our best year um doing DFS so uh take advantage of that it’s free wt.buzzal that’s the same page that you can get all the plays on so we’re going to go to your long shot here but yeah curious uh your thoughts on DRI and Fox it feels like this year those are some of the guys that are cashing in some pretty big tickets for us as underdogs i think this will answer the question i have a 1% client play on Ryan Fox top 10 this week plus 550 including time so there you go there’s your preview for for the show so yeah I love Fox his irons you mentioned he can hit the ball far his irons have been lights out uh during his run right now so again es and flows sometimes you just got to ride the hot hand until it burns you and then come back to it in a couple months when he when he returns to form that’s how golf goes right so yeah I like them both thomas Dietri I actually played live at the US Open i thought he could stay he was playing well i thought he everything looked like he was going to stay in that top 10 so I tried to cash a top 10 plus it was like 260 or 270 something like that live it did not come through he fell uh on Sunday a bit but yeah he’s been playing pretty steady as well but I really really love Fox this week all right let’s go let’s go to your long shot who do you like here this week in a in a short field with no cut the same trend ben Griffin’s hot ryan Fox is hot those two have wins nick Taylor doesn’t have the win but gosh he’s playing some good golf right now too and and you know his history at this tournament I’ll say this horrendous i don’t know if you’re going to find better or worse excuse me course history on somebody than Nick Taylor here so we got to get past that and we’re asking a lot but at better than 100 to one on a guy that’s you know finished in the top 25 in five of his last six starts quietly tied for 23rd again last week at Oakmont before that tied for 13th at the Canadian Open where he won a couple years ago solo fourth at the Memorial you know this is his fourth week in a row playing so yeah some concern there as far as fatigue goes but I mentioned earlier so many in this field are riding a very busy schedule everybody’s going to basically take off the next couple of weeks around the 4th of July before they gear up for that final major so there’s time to breathe after this week so there is a concern there I suppose but uh he lacks distance we know that but at 6,800 yards not needed this week irons 12th stroke approach this season Andy 19th driving accuracy and with rough again expected to be up a little bit this week that should only help him and he’s eighth in greens and regulation this year so quiet stats but consistent throughout the season playing his best golf right now will he get through and win 100 to1 maybe not but it’s worth a play top 10 plus 650 very very good price there even a top 20 at plus 240 I love so I think Nick Taylor continues to play well uh despite his horrible course history here i’m gonna ignore that we’re gonna we’re gonna get past that he was minus 140 to make the cut uh last week it was great odds on him what was funny was one of the matchups was against Carlos Ortiz oh I would have taken that all day i got burned me too taylor would have beat just about anybody in a headtohead the books happen to put him up against Carlos Ortiz so I love the Nick Taylor uh look this week so yeah that that that guy’s probably going to win if he if he keeps playing all these tournaments uh just give him a little bit of a weaker field and yeah that guy’s probably going to win so all right that’s going to do it for us for this week’s Travelers Championship again hit the like button really
