Our FootJoy Fury review has taken place during rounds at Dom Pedro in Portugal, Woburn in Milton Keynes and Moor Allerton in Leeds.
We first saw FootJoy’s latest golf shoe at the brand’s launch event in Portugal and have been wearing it non-stop over the past couple of months.
FootJoy Fury review – First impressions
FootJoy Fury ReviewThis is very much a trainer style which will appeal to those who want a comfortable, top-performing shoe rather than a classic look.
To me, it follows on more from the HyperFlex rather than the Tour-S which were launched last year.
It shares more similarities with the look of HyperFlex with the ‘flex-grid’ design of the upper.
FootJoy Fury Review
This is the shoe we’ve seen Rafa Cabrera Bello, among others, wearing on tour and the Spaniard was heavily involved in the thought process behind the shoe.
The looks are striking without being over bearing so should appeal to a wide range of golfers.
FootJoy Fury review – The technology
Whereas the Tour-S focussed on stability, Fury are really tackling comfort – a ‘surround sound’ of comfort is what they are promising.
However, the brand say there has been no compromise on traction and all-round performance.
FootJoy Fury Review
FootJoy say the Fury was designed from the ‘inside out’ to offer stability where you need it and comfort where you want it.
There’s a new inner fit sleeve which keeps your foot snug while preventing tongue movement.
FootJoy Fury Review
A three-layer fit bed with memory foam will mould to the shape of your foot over time.
The fine-tuned-foam midsole (a variant to Pro SL) and a TPU cleated outsole with dozens of traction points increase the stability and grip.

FootJoy Fury review – The results
When you first put the Fury on the comfort levels are immediately apparent. They feel soft, bouncy and light.
I can’t remember a sensation like that from another FootJoy shoe from the last five years.
FootJoy Fury Review
Despite being a spiked shoe, they feel more like a spikeless even when walking on very firm surfaces.
Out on the course they were offering me the superior traction levels I’m after.
I really felt like my feet were locked nicely to the ground through the swing and the shoe itself was keeping my foot locked in.
FootJoy Fury Review
After playing 18 holes my feet still felt fresh. In fact, they were ready to go again, I had no urge to take them off at all.
FootJoy Fury review – NCG verdict
I favour whichever shoe is going to give me the best stability and traction. That’s why I’m such a big fan of the Tour-S and Pro SL.
For me, Fury offers the same performance benefits as those but with a massive dose of added comfort.
I feel like it’s the shoe I’ve been waiting for.
FootJoy Fury Review
The only thing which could possibly put people off buying Fury is favouring a more traditional style of shoe.
Or some will opt for the convenience of a spikeless like the Pro SL.
But if you’re after a shoe which offers no compromise whatsoever on comfort and performance then look no further.
