Tonight in Seattle, the Red Sox play their first game of the post Rappy Devers era as they bring a five game winning streak into T Mobile Park against the Mariners with a very different looking lineup to start this key nine game road trip out west and the Red Sox had not even left Boston yesterday when the shocking trade of Rapha Devers to the Giants came down. Honestly, the timing could be worse. Things felt like they were finally getting back on track and honestly, in the short term , this really kills them offensively. I mean, there’s no way around that but a move like this tells me that in the eyes of the front office roster flexibility and most importantly, preserving the culture inside of that clubhouse with these young players outweighs the offensive production from Raffie Devers. And that’s, that’s really tough to grasp right now, especially with a team that’s fighting to stay in striking distance of a wild card spot and you’re going to have to do that all without your best bet. So I guess for the people we talked with the owner said, trade him really shocking to see that it actually went down but it did. Hey, it’s just great to have this guy back. Hey, you need your a right coming into the season. You’re looking at that starting road and Logan Gilbert is at the top of it. In his first six starts. He was fantastic. His, er, A was just 2.37 opponents were hitting only 164 off of the right hander and Then he had to go on the IL but after three starts down in AAA with his last one, he only gave up one hit over five innings, but he got up to 70 pitches and the Mariners, I think they’re looking for Logan to probably go about 80 pitches here tonight. So hopefully he can be efficient with those 80 pitches and take them deep into the ball game. This is one thing that was bit of a struggle in the month of April trying to get going before he hit the A L was the efficiency. A lot of deep counts against Logan Gilbert. We’re not used to seeing that he got it. Welcome back, Logan Gilbert 97 mile an hour heat strikes out the first batter that he sees already shaking his head after that strikeout. 32 count good fastball down in the strike zone, good velocity extension. You know about that from Logan Gilbert Roman Anthony 1 to 16 with three runs batted in. I look out to the wall out there far away in center field in Seattle. And I remember very vividly, Raffi Devers going yard. So will this be the spot where Roman Anthony Rs his first major league home? The 66 right hander with a 2 to 2 and a high fly ball that’s driven deep to right center. It’s back there. She is gone. Roman Anthony hits his first major league homer just like Devers in Seattle and it is one nothing red sox. What a moment for the kid 391 ft. He gets to Logan Gilbert and knocks it out of the ballpark new era for the Red Sox and they’re expecting Roman Anthony to be at the forefront of the new era. He showed out that big power right there. The wind up and the 12 swing and a miss at a breaking ball strike three and NBA goes down swinging. So a couple of strikeouts for Logan Gilbert for the Red Sox get a run on roman Anthony’s first big league home run Lucas Giolito coming fine effort. The Red Sox have an er a of 105 during this five game winning streak just getting started here in Seattle 10, the Red Sox and the two Hammer to short might be two story to Hamilton one and a double play that was room service for the Red Sox just like that two gone is 12 high fly into center field. Raffaello plenty of space back there, sean makes the catch Giolito faces only three. Here’s the wind up and again, the 12 to story swing and a miss in gets him with a slider strike three already three strikeouts for Logan Gilbert and the Red Sox have two down here in the top half of the second. Now the lineup and the one to Hamilton swinging a high fly ball into right field shallow down on the line going out to get an angle on it. Foul territory is called Young Young is there to make the catch on the one track down the line and that is going to retire the side shot by Giolito rolling. That’s it for. And the Mariners in the bottom half of the second, a couple of strikeouts for Lucas Giolito, we go to the top of the third red sox one and the Mariners Logan three strikeouts here comes two swing on a miss that ball disappeared into the dirt. A beauty. Look at that pitch. We talked about the inefficiency in the month of April. Now he was doing plenty of this punching tickets. Strike three called Campbell gets locked up. That’s five strikeouts first time through the order for Logan Gilbert. That’s a good sign coming back off the A L taking care of the bottom of this lineup. Durant struck out to begin the game. He is zero for one sox that one down the line fair ball. He jumped all over that one into the corner, it goes. Canzone has to give chase rounding second. Durant heading into third and he’s in there standing up. He came in today tied for the A L lead in triples with seven. Let’s make that eight and give him the lead. Red Sox trying to double their lead to 0 to 1 with a pop to short played 169 games for Seattle ground ball and a diving play by Young bobbled it a bit. He will not get him in a run scores. Durant in to touch home 2 to 0. Boston when you put the ball in play, magical things can happen. That’s it right. Here’s the one too swung on a miss a half cut, couldn’t hold the swing. And that’s the sixth strikeout for Logan Gilbert Giolito looking for the punch out and a base hit the other way instead hitting third, he will stop there as Durant hustles it in and that’s three consecutive singles in the last half of the third inning. Trouble for Lucas will bring up JP Crawford a walk in the first and just yesterday, he hit a grand slam in their victory. A 6 to 0 win. The pitch is fastball top of the first out for Giolito. Not over yet. No, it is not because you got Rodriguez now with Raley on deck , he got him change up and Rodriguez is gone after the bases were loaded with nobody out consecutive strikeouts and they two down. Fantastic job by Giolito here. Back to back strikeouts, pretty dangerous hitters, but the job is not done. The man Cal Raley stepping up here now he’s got 26 home. Be amazing. He can get out two down loaded up. Here’s the pitch swing and a miss and a curveball in the dirt. And Giolito after loading the bases strikes out the side, these two kids were ready to play in the big leagues. Mayer and Anthony, here’s the 02 swung on a miss. That was a beauty, a splitter that he rips through. Strikeout. Number seven for Logan Gilbert. Here’s his pitch swing on another punch shot a slider up in the zone strikeout number eight for Logan Gilbert in his return by Logan and the 12 on the way to Campbell. Here she comes breaking ball that a beauty for strike three strikeout number nine for Logan Gilbert and two down for the Red Sox here in the top of the fifth inning and the 12 pitch to Durant swing and a miss, he waves at a splitter strike that’s going to retire. The side is strikeout number 10 for Logan Gilbert in his start after missing about the last two months. He has pitched very well tonight. 10 strikeouts in five innings of work actually walked the leadoff man tonight in the first inning JP Crawford. They got a double play has not walked anyone since two in there for strike three. He took it and Williamson will take a seat two down with a good four seamer like that. You see the angle of it, you think that is going to be well below the zone and it flattens out and just catches the bottom of the zone. That’s a perfect pitch and he does struck him out 94 with that baby. He gets a 12 again, Logan Gilbert in his long awaited return from the injured list striking out 10 Red Sox over five innings. He was good. We were curious what he was going to look like coming out of that I stint. Is it good to see Logan Gilbert out there on the mound going far strong. He’s been laying off of a couple to get this three to two, the payoff swing and a Miss, he did not lay off that one. Giolito went back to it 95 his ninth strikeout 10 straight sent down and there’s one away the best we’ve seen Giolito all year long to Rodriguez and Miss for strike three and that’s 10 punch outs for Giolito. A total master class. There’s two away. One is a soft ground ball to the right side. Hamilton’s got it the first toro there inning over, keep it going. Lucas Giolito, both pitchers struck out 10 retired the last 12. He saw really good pitching matchup. Had your moment is not out. You go through that and never looked back pretty stingy. This one tonight. So Dyllan Moore, the pinch hitter takes a walk trouble brewing. Here was one away 1st and 2nd. Dominic canzone be the batter. He’s 1 to 2 in the single pops it up left side of the diamond for Meyers Marcelo with the infield fly in effect makes the catch two down. Then Williamson the batter he singled in fan two on and two away. Wilson’s 12 coming and swung on and struck him out. But the Red Sox have had to tonight, they have made giant pitches end of 72 nothing Boston for a pitcher in Weiser has been so reliable. That is unforgivable. Eight pitches to walk the first two and now the go ahead run comes up in one of the game’s great players in the center field charging out the catch, he’ll throw to second, not in time for a double play but one down. Meanwhile, Cal Raley 26 home runs, Weiser 2 to 2 swing and a miss got him. Raley fanning for the second time, two down in the eighth big strikeout right there. And now the D A Jorge Polanco one for three with a single and popped up. Here comes Meyer. He’s got room, he’s got it. Boy. The Red Sox three different times have been on the verge of giving up a run. They made huge, huge pitches tonight, Williamson a long run for this. Ben Williamson reaching back behind his cape to make the catch here to cover a lot of ground, put everything he had into this, couldn’t quite slow. Janson had to reach back over, he’s back to get it overran it unbelievable play on that closer Aroldis Chapman to try and lock this up. It’s been a tight one Red Sox two in Seattle swinging fastball blew him away and there’s one down, this has just been everything the Red Sox could have ever hoped for from this pitcher. Two to two. He did. He struck him out two up, two down on a couple of punchouts. 14 strikeouts tonight by the Red Sox pitching staff, Donovan Solano will bat now as he’s the pinch hitter, strike three that does it Red Sox win it 2 to 0. Aroldis Chapman strikes out the side. Red Sox pitching fans, 15 Seattle Mariners.

  1. I'm no longer interested in being a fan of a team that shows no vision or desire to win, as they already did with Norman Garcia Parra, Monokie Betts, Chris Sale with Bogartets, and now with Rafael Devers. 🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴

  2. I don't think they should have treated Rafael Devers that way, because it was all to make him feel bad. They let him get on their plane and then took him off so everyone would see that they didn't want him anymore and so he wouldn't…

  3. Gutsy start by Giolito. Gutless salary dump by ownership. Fans deserve the experience the Yankees provide for their fans. Competitive every year.

  4. "Alex Coras" He got away with it, he showed no understanding or response to Rafael Devers and said they were friends. 😢😢😢

  5. Congratulations to the Roman Empire on hitting his first major league HR!!! In the same stadium where Raffy hit his first major league HR.

  6. Red Sox pitchers struck out 14 batters. Incredible number! Still outdone by the amount of ads in the video 😵

  7. YouTube is doubling up on their advertisements AND the advertisements are getting longer, so I gave this video a thumbs down. If this trend continues, I'll find other forms of entertainment.

  8. JRod strikes out with the bases loaded and later with them empty–he's such a well-rounded player!

  9. There are no useless Japanese people on DH.Still a trade candidate, but no one is buying him
That's why Anthony, Meyer, was listed as a top prospect.Gonzalez and Toro are doing well too.
DH will rotate between Toro, Gonzalez, and Anthony.

  10. All Boston fans will complain about Devers until they end this year with 90+ wins and they’ll swear they knew it the whole hole time

  11. mariners fans are absolutely the most bipolar in baseball. win a game its were going to the world series and something about a dump truck or a toilet or something. lose a game the entire seasons over and who cares and why even bother.

  12. I'm sorry man but ain't no FN way that this game is not scripted, once again they call a homer before it's hit, even in the very spot it's going?!?!Either it's technology or they somehow have a delay on the broadcasting and they add it in later, idk man,but anyway welcome to the yard ROMAN ANTHONY!!

  13. 責任感よりも好き嫌いで仕事するような馬鹿監督はプロではない 吉田の能力を無駄にしすぎ
