all right guys welcome back to the hit channel as you can see i’m out of the studio in lo on location in america actually on this beautiful putting green to test these bad boys out the brand new tailor made spider and these are the zt now these have had some early success already like they’ve been very popular um the idea and i’ll be honest quite a few brands have taken on this idea as well is almost their lab equivalent uh lab have had such great success over the last few years a lot of brands we’ve seen it with odyssey we’ve now seen it with tailor made i’m sure other brands are going to follow as well um this is tailor made’s kind of version at it now it’s 5k zt the 5k meaning the moment of inertia the most forgiving putters tailor made have ever ever made now it’s a spider still they’ve still stayed in this kind of spider family new colorway this uh turquoise blue which personally i’m not in love with but i’m sure lots of people will like it i’ve got three putters i’ve got this one’s um counterbalanced longer grip model then i’ve got a broom handle model we’ll test that in a little bit and then the standard this is the uh 34 in standard superstroke grip um i actually apart from like the color way on the bottom everything else looks really clean i love this silver i love the black out top i really like the black shaft let’s give these a roll so the idea if i twist this and just let it sit in its natural position it should sit toe up which is really hard to do on a putter like if you remember years ago odyssey actually brought a franchise of putters out called toe up and had this weird way of putting the shaft in the head to make it do that and the idea if you think about that that’s toe up that’s in a square position so if you were to rock that back and forth that should stay square that’s the whole concept of it the whole idea um again personally i don’t love center shafty putters i feel like i they kind of rotate around that central bit but lookswise that is a beautiful looking putter it’s really easy to square up i like that a lot right first ever put with the brand new tailor-made zt putters [Laughter] i thought for a second that felt great that felt really nice now it’s got the same pure roll that tailor made spiders have had for years and years and years felt soft quite a soft insert there’s big talks around this triangular shaping of the weight here at the bottom you can see the two in the actual head the toe and the heel and one further back that triangular shape is keeping the putter as stable as possible that actually felt fantastic oh it’s soft wow it’s it’s really soft off the face i mean even the sound like it’s not making a loud noise at all oh i love the feel of that i absolutely love the feel it’s honestly and i’m not i didn’t expect this that’s one of the softest putter faces i have ever ever puted with it’s softer than like the the old two ball putter which had that kind of um urethane cover face that is such a soft cover and and i love it certainly on really fast greens that’s amazing yeah i really like that that felt so good let’s hit some more putts let’s go short medium and long it is actually really easy to line up the other thing as well again a lot of these uh putters that have been that’s been inspired by lab the actual shaft is going in slightly further back from the face so you can see there it’s actually going in behind the actual face element there that’s to keep that kind of really zero um i mean zt stands for zero torque and the idea of that shaft going almost to some point right in the mid right in the middle of the the weight distribution inside the head it’s really easy to line up nice putt slightly swung that feel oh that feel of that putter face is spectacular it’s spectacular it’s one of the best feeling putter faces i’ve ever used it’s unbelievably soft now where i’d slightly be concerned about that soft feel is is that like i i could imagine i’d leave quite a few short puts or put short at first until i really got used to it but that honestly feels really really nice and you know what i’ve also remembered is that it i mean it doesn’t look it i wouldn’t have even noticed the shaft isn’t straight with the grip so the grip this left side of the grip is almost perfectly straight with the front of the putter face but then the shaft you might not even be able to see it almost goes in at a slight angle i mean it’s it’s minute it’s 2 or 3° at most where lab it feels quite exaggerated feels almost a bit unnatural but that that doesn’t at all uh one thing i haven’t touched on yet price there’s always a catch ain’t there there’s always a catch i’m i’m quite shocked to the price the £450 £450 that’s a lot of money that is a lot of money i suppose again lab to blame for all this lab you know there’s 600 700 quid these have now kind of trying to cotton onto that market let’s hit a couple more puts i almost don’t want to i almost don’t even want to test the other two cuz this feels so good that’s my only fear just leaving them short but it feels phenomenal let’s the mission is not to leave another put short now failed i love that putter face it’s amazing right let’s try the counterbalance one next see if that performs any differently okay this one now is the counterbalance model so it’s longer longer grip it’s got a weight in the butt end the idea is you grip a little bit further down on this club so you’ve kind of got balance as much as possible in the head balance as much as possible in the shaft i mean there’s literally no excuse is there um interestingly again is there any i don’t think there’s any shaft lean in that i mean if there is i mean it’s a tiny amount everything else looks the same down here those three triangular weight systems yeah i mean i don’t love that blue but listen companies run out of colors right they’re not that’s somewhere in between those two anyway right so i’m going to grip down a little bit on it oh just that sound and that feel i’ve tried counterbalance putters in the past i don’t love them because it makes me question where to put my hands on the club all the time i feel like i’d almost want a marker almost like don’t put your hands on on the spider your hands have always got to be lower that feels a bit too low but i feel like i was always like this when i had a counterbalance putter in the past beautiful roll again very impressed very impressed out of a lot of these balanced putters the lab the odyssey which other ones have i tried even roll even roll it’s early call but i think this might be the best one i actually think this might be the best one it just feels the most it actually genuinely feels the most stable and like i say with that face insert i mean it is really really really nice right i’m going to hold all three of these still getting used to that facing so nice how it just kind of rocks back and forth it does feel really stable even on a couple of the offcentered hits i’ve got there like it doesn’t feel like it’s twisting which again has been my complaint with other putters with some more of these kind of balanced putters it feels like anytime you hit the toe of the heel it almost rotates around that central spot this isn’t feeling that this is feeling really stable let’s do something i’ve not done for a very very very long time okay i feel like this is this is a last resort for golfers for bad putters you you’ve got the most balanced putter face in the world you then stick it on a broom handle shaft um but listen i know i would try anything to improve my my short game so if putting’s an issue this is not a terrible idea uh obviously can’t anchor it you got to keep it off the chest what what’s interesting with these broom handles is the actual grip’s round it’s circular actually i don’t mind that one being circular but i feel like that should be a little bit more of a flatfaced one like a normal putter grip i don’t love the fact it’s like perfectly round it’s almost more like an iron grip right i mean it’s such a pendulum wow i mean that is that is the definition of grandfather clock i mean that is literally the definition it just feels super super easy i just find it hard to judge distance potentially the roll is magnificent like absolute end over end feel like i’d always be worrying about this about whether i’m anchoring or not i mean that feels gorgeous nice putter face again that’s the one thing i’ve been so impressed with with these tailormaides the putter face and like i say it might be might be borderline too soft but it’s one of the most softest one thing as well we’ve got odyssey have got their thank you have got their version coming out as well so we’re going to review this what’s interesting though i feel let’s be honest when we’re comparing spaceships with spaceships this one’s definitely a better looking spaceship than that that is that’s bold this is the square to square max stripe i mean wow and also the shaft lean that’s a lot more severe shaft lean this video will be coming to the hit channel soon with regards to these the spider the tailor made spider zt the 5k which is the 5k moi very impressed very impressed i am i think that i think they’re beautiful the craftsmanship has gone really nice um and like i said i could probably get over that kind of turquoise blue over time i think it’s a very very good lineup of putters but bear in mind certainly if you play slow greens i don’t think these face inserts would suit you you’ve got to be on faster
