Richmond Golf Club held the first annual competition in memory of a devoted late member.
The Queen Bee Salver, named in honour of Ann Thorpe-Lawson, was played on Sunday, June 8.
Mrs Thorpe-Lawson, a former Lady Captain and Ladies’ Club Champion at both Richmond and Catterick Golf Clubs, was known for her passion for the sport.

She was also a past president of the Teesside Lady Golfers’ Alliance.
Her family felt the competition was a suitable tribute, celebrating her many happy hours on the course.
The salver’s name comes from a past captain’s day when she requested participants to wear black and yellow, earning her the nickname ‘Queen Bee’.
Her family, all involved in golf – from her husband, son, daughter-in-law and granddaughters – supported the event as a fitting remembrance.
The first winner of the Queen Bee Salver Competition was Claire Bateman, Ladies’ Vice Captain.
The tournament is expected to become an annual event, keeping Mrs Thorpe-Lawson’s memory alive in the golfing community.
