A couple won a golf competition in Somerset despite not having the highest score.
Oake Manor Golf Club held their annual Husband and Wife Mixed Greensomes Competition for the Jack King Trophy on Sunday, June 8.

Claire Tough and Paul Hadley Jnr had the best score of the day with 47 points, followed by Janet and Paul Howe with 44 points.
Liz and Mike How came third with 41 points, but won the Jack King Trophy as the first two couples did not meet the strict criteria to win it.
Mrs How was nearest the pin on the 14th hole for the ladies, while Mr Hadley was nearest the pin on the fourth hole for the men.
Rosemary Webber and Thomas Bordier were nearest the pin in two shots on the 18th hole.
On the same day, the Oake Manor Golf Club Sunday Stableford Competition saw Finley Pyke emerge victorious with the best score of the day, 41 points.

Terry Davies was second in division one with 38 points, followed by Keith Cooper who came third with 37 points.
Nick Putt won division two with 40 points, while Callum Foster and Martin Ayliffe were second and third respectively, both scoring 39 points.

In the Seniors section ‘Order of Merit’ Competition on Monday, June 9, Stephen Wilcox won division 1 with 41 points, the top score of the day.

Colin Brown came second with 39 points, and Mike Eastmond was third with 38 points.
In division two, Meredith Collins won, scoring 40 points, Michael Robbins was second with 39 points, and Stephen Miller was third with 37 points.
Ian Blackwell, playing off a three handicap, finished well clear in the Wednesday Midweek Stableford on Wednesday, June 11.
The closest challenger to his score of 43 was Robin Trott’s 37, with third-placed Simon Dyke also finishing on 37.
In division two, James Marney took 41 points to claim victory, followed by Martin Ayliffe and Eamon Leigh, who scored 39 and 38 points, respectively.
