this is the smallest golf club that I have ever tried on this channel It would hide behind the golf ball That is how small it is This is the Pure One I’ve actually got a set of three of these This is the mid iron in my hand but inside my bag I’ve got the short iron as well as the wedge This is all about building your consistency with the strike If you can hit it with this one you can hit the sweet spot on any club And on today’s episode we’re going to put it through the test I’m going to hit a few on the ranges to see if I can actually make contact with the Pure One Then we’re going to play some holes of golf out here at Carowwood Country Club using the set and see if we can play even par It would be crazy if we did Let’s see if this thing works though Here’s your closer look at the Pure One Now I’ve got the mid iron in hand but like I said I’ve got the full set that they offer the three-piece with the short as well as the wedge So interestingly enough you’ve got a lot of top line and you’ve got a lot of soul to this club And what that allows this club to do is feel the same weight as a traditional club I think that is a genius design And it also gives you a little bit more confidence staring down at this little tiny club Again I got to put a ball up there so you can actually see it It just barely barely covers the ball but it works Also some offset there That’s going to help as well It is such a wild wild but very cool design Now it comes paired with a good shaft here This is a true temper dynamic gold If you can see it there this is an R300 So a regular flex shaft Now I think that’s going to be perfect for the people This golf club is intended for folks that need to be working on making better contact are generally going to have a little bit slower swing speeds So it would be nice if they offered a stiff version or maybe a senior flex or even a graphite shaft And you could of course have this reshafted that way But I do think regular is probably going to be best for most people That’s why it’s regular after all In terms of a grip it comes with a true temper Icon grip Kind of like a Lamb King Crossline A standard grip there And again it’s a regular wrap It’s not like a midsize or thick grip but again you could change that out if you wanted In terms of price point of this club you can get a single club right around $170 So basically the cost of like a standard wedge out there And they do offer a discount if you were to get all three including the short and the wedge Speaking of the short I think that’s probably the one if you’re going to choose one of these just to work on consistency and ball striking That’s probably going to be your best bet because it’s kind of like a mid iron in the bag In fact they might have named it mid I think might have made a little bit more sense and named this one long but you know who am I to say but depending on the part of the game that you want to work on obviously you’ve got three different options or you go for all three at one time All right the first thing I want to do here is actually take it out to the range and see if I can hit this thing That’s going to be a miracle I think because I just feel like I’m going to huzzle rock at every single shot out there I’m going to take the mid out there first because if I can hit this club I’m sure I could hit the other two here the short and the wedge Let’s see if we can do it All right first swing This seems like I could absolutely shank it See if we can make contact Oh Oh my gosh Tight little draw It felt like I hit it like toe side but there’s not much toe Wa That was definitely in the middle And that felt like it actually has a sweet spot too There’s real feedback just like a golf club with this as well I mean if you want to improve your striking consistency this could be the club Wow I just want to see if I can fade one because I know I can hit that little baby draw of mine But could I actually fade this club and work on shot shape it was fading although I completely pulled that shot Let’s see Get it started off in a better spot There we go Yes Unreal Unreal I think it’s time to take this one out on course Let’s pull out the wedge Let’s pull out the short iron and let’s see if we can play a few holes with these things This is crazy All right first hole here is a par five Now I’ve got to give myself some kind of advantage because not only am I playing irons only I’m playing with these little tiny irons So we are going to play from some forward T’s here These are like the super senior TE’s And from here this is about a 400 yardd hole I’m going to take the mid out which is that one I just hit over there on the range If I can get off the tea well maybe we can get home at two I don’t know But certainly we should be on the green in regulation got really nice peak height It was drawn but I I pulled that one a little bit Now I do have a regular shaft on this and it’s probably one of the reasons I pulled it right there a little bit So the way I found this one was I was just hanging out at the PGA show after hours brands put on parties I actually went over to the True Golf party that was going on They were having a little cocktail reception This guy walked in with this little club And uh being a golf equipment nerd I was like “What are you holding?” I had to ask him He was a little standoffish at first I don’t think he was ready for that But then he kind of warmed up to me And uh he told me that they developed this club the Pure One to really help you work on creating consistent contact And I asked him I was like “Does the ball have to be in the middle of this club does it feel like a regular club?” He says “You can hit it like a regular club.” It was hard to believe but I didn’t hear from the guy for like 6 months Finally he reached back out to me and said he could send me a sample of this thing And so I’m stoked to actually try this one out All right so I hit that 190 is the number We got 213 in I can’t get there I don’t think 190 So I’m going to take the short iron here We’re just in the left rough There should hopefully be about a 150 club Then we’ll wedge it in from there Oh man perfect And that should give us a really good angle too on the left side of the fairway Even made a divot That’s sweet I can’t believe that Uh it seems like there’s no possible way that I’m going to hit the ball and I’m going be shanking everything but it hasn’t been the case yet They’ve all been at least near the middle of the club face It’s It defies logic and physics Crazy All right perfect angle Distance to the pin is 68 yds This will be a real test to see if I can get the weight of the shot right with this wedge Now this wedge 54° is the loft of this one So that’s something I generally hit about 100 yards We’ll take a little bit of a maybe a half swing here It should be good And what a great idea I think for getting your contact around the greens dialed in as well Having this little wedge it’s going to be fun See if we can knock one tight All right I’m going to choke down on it just a little bit too I don’t know what kind of spin I’m going to get from this wedge We’ll find out Oh All right Well we we found what I need to work on the contact with Clearly the wedge shots I was waiting for the shank to come That finally came We’re going to need to get up and down for the par Generally I’d feel very confident getting up and down from this position Not so sure with the Pure One We’ll find out Nope That came off the club face right as well So we’re going to need to work on the chipping here and the short shots around the green But I do have a putt at par which should be nice to roll in Oh got to hit it That’s a bogey on a par five You don’t want to do that But we got two holes to make it up We’ve actually had to skip a hole here because there was a slow group and uh I was sandwiched in between a fast group behind me a slow group in front of me So we’re actually on the third hole which happens to be the hardest hole on this golf course All right we’re going to take the mid iron out I got to hit it like I just did on the last hole because we need some distance It’s a long one All right we’re off to a decent start there Left side of the fairway and I got a fair amount of distance so I think we can reach the green from there So with these clubs too I’m not taking like a 100% swing just yet I’m taking probably like a 95% swing My distance is going to be a little less than it would normally be especially with a game improvement iring your contact And when you’re doing that you don’t want to be swinging full speed You kind of want to work your way up to that Anytime I’m practicing out on the range I’m starting with wedge shots I’m starting with like 60% power shots and I’m working my way through the bag by the end of that range session I might be taking rips with driver But I don’t start out that way And I think that’s a big mistake that a lot of amateurs make They go out to a driving range they just start trying to rip drivers and swing it as hard as they can When you’re practicing golf and you’re trying to improve especially your consistency with the ball striking you’ve got to slow it down a little bit and get the mechanics right Again really good angle cuz this pin is tucked over a bunker We’re 167 out Probably right in between these two clubs But again I’d rather take a little less swing with this one a little less power and just work on my consistency and hopefully hit this one in the middle It didn’t I pulled it So we’re going to get to chip We’re going to need to pull that wedge back out All right See if third time’s a charm with the wedge I’m going to take the glove off this time Now I’m pin high but it’s nasty because this green slopes way down It’s like a two-tiered green So I’ve got to hit it up towards the left hand side Again I’ve got to get good contact Much better But we’re still going to have a fairly goodized putt here for our par At least I hit the middle of the club face there So got to take the small winds All right See if we can get lucky Oh come on Stay up Oh well our even par does not look good unless we get an ace on the next hole here but I’m going to give it my best It would be crazy I haven’t had a hole in one on in this show If I had it with this mini club that would be insane All right last hole par three We’ve got 115 and I’m kind of in between the short and the wedge I would like to give one more crack with that wedge to really dial it in but I think the short’s going to get us there at a 54°ree wedge is like a 100 yard club for me So it’s just not quite enough This one should be like a 145 club So I’m going have to take a little bit off but I think it’s going to give us a better chance of hitting the green And although we’re not going to be even par here today it would be nice to finish with a birdie Did I take enough off of it it might be deep I hit the back of the green but it may have rolled off We may have a chance to use that wedge after all So really good contact there I hit the middle of the club face Almost too good actually And uh did we stay up on top ah we’re going to have to pull the wedge out That was all over it but just a little too far Let’s see if we can dial it in before I leave here today I want to make sure that I’ve mastered the wedge play But I got to say I think using something like this you go out and you hit a 100 chip shots with this a day for a couple of days you’re going to be a master chipper in terms of making contact I can’t guarantee you’re always going to get the weight of the shot right or the direction of the shot right once it hits the green but you’re certainly going to have better contact That was definitely my best one of the day Didn’t quite get the secondary check that I would normally get from a wedge but again that’s not what this kind of practice is all about Still got a chance to convert my par here The best chance I’ve had all day really I didn’t hit it Didn’t hit it Well the scorecard didn’t show exactly how much I enjoyed playing with the Pure Ones here today What a pleasure And again this is something really meant for you to be out on a practice range out on a practice green really dialing in the shots I think if you use this continue to use this You are going to be a better ball striker If you want to check it out further I’m going to leave a link down below And of course anytime you hit our links you’re helping to support this show helping us uncover the hidden gems like I take old clubs to the range for this reason. If you think you're putting a good swing on your modern game improvement iron try switching to the same loft of an old club like a 1973 Hogan Apex. You HAVE to put a good swing on some old clubs so it helps keep you honest.
Gary Player has said often that a wedge still needs to be quick like striking a match. if you don't get that quick little swish at impact you will get the miss hit.
Same theory with the tiny holes you see on some practice greens. If you can master small, you’ll get good with large. Strange that the guy was standoffish, seems like he would want to scream from the mountain top about a brand new product of his.
I want to see you do a Collab Episode with @GolfBallAddict
Aim Small Miss Small should be the slogan for these clubs
Hmm, would definitely help with ball striking
I admit it. I am a sheep. Anything Gabe reviews and likes, I almost always purchase. In Gabe I trust!
Really cool! But no way I’m making contact with that🤣
If someone wanted to learn how to hit a consistent draw your swing is it…
Am I the only one who saw the "magic trick"?
? The Butter blade has been for a while. and it's cheaper. I guess if you wanted a 3 pack.
Um… that is a hard pass.. I feel like I at looking at a club on Mario Golf!! Lol
I've got a Maxfli Australian blade 5 iron for that kind of fun,, supermodel skinny top line and sole. Like the idea here!
I may be the strange guy, but I'm 10 handicap but even when I was a higher handicap, smaller, more bladed irons was always easier for me to hit. Bigger "game improvement " irons, I always chucked or hit anywhere but the middle.
Could definitely improve consistency.
These should come x stiff by default. Pain teaches.
That's a bag full of shanks! 😂😂😂
I had a similar product about 10 years ago (it might even have been the same one) and it did a good job of making you concentrate on focus on the strike and was surprisingly easy to hit well if the concentration level is there, but because the head is so small you are automatically hitting nearer the hozel to make good contact, and I found repeated range use moved my strike pattern with my normal irons closer to the hozel too and actually away from the sweet-spot – not ideal if you already experience the occasional hozel rocket, so it went on Ebay.
Have had a PSP "Little One", same kind of club from a different manufacturer, for 10'ish years. Use it to sharpen my focus.
