MacIntyre ends runner-up in the 125th edition of the US Open at Oakmont
all right two under 68 robert McIntyre great great playing out there can you just talk us through that final round yeah obviously it didn’t um get off to the best of starts i was two over through three and then hold a a lovely putt on on four par five for Eagle um and that kind of settled me down that got me into somewhat of a groove and back in the golf tournament um and then the back n was just all about fighting obviously rain delay not had my previous reind delay comebacks haven’t been strong and um today was the day that I said to myself why not why not be me today um when I was going round and I just trusted myself trusted my caddy Mike trusted all the work that I’ve done and we’re sitting here in the clubhouse nicely and just wait and see um we were just saying as you walked over it’s a little surreal for us we’re going to watch you watch what happens what is this like for you I mean a moment like this it’s almost a coin flip right now how does it feel to be you in this exact space and time feels great i’ve got a chance to win a major championship um it’s what I’ve dreamed of as a kid sitting back home in open watching all the majors um yeah it it feels unbelievable but again I might have I might have some work to do at what point in time today did you think you might have a chance to win this golf tournament i think when I I think I was walking up 14 or 12 and I seen I seen a leaderboard that was leader was at even par um I can’t remember where I was at i was at three over I think at the time and I for the whole week I’ve said level par in my head i’m just looking for four even pars and almost got there but not quite but I always thought I could I could really challenge even going into today but obviously the start wasn’t wasn’t a help when you guys went back out there what was the course conditions like and what was the toughest part of dealing with it from your perspective just getting back into a groove um it’s trying to build on the momentum that I had that I felt I was gaining birdie nine um 10 was playing absolute brutal into wind with the rain 11 in the rain i just try to get the T-shot in play and then the horn goes but it was just about sticking to what I do and get the ball back on the fairway priority one on the fairway and then and then go from there you had mentioned that the the goal of even par is that something that you typically do at tournaments or majors like this of setting uh target scores or is it a phenomenon of the US Open in this course that it it became kind of apparent that might be a good number i thought it was just this week to be honest i didn’t even think even par was possible at the start of the week um but with the softer conditions the last couple of days it gives you more of a chance but again drive it in the rough that doesn’t change is this a good weather day back home um when that rain came on I wouldn’t be outside um I’d be indoors like you guys i don’t fair weather golfer now i’ve moved to the PGA Tour how did you spend the break um I was I came in spoke to my girlfriend my best pal my manager we chilled out for 10 minutes and then I went up into the locker room dried off my shirt stole an air conditioning unit and pointed it towards the shirt um dried it off and I just kept stretching stayed loose went through my mobility stuff and then just got ready to go anyone say anything that encouraged you not one thing i just I’m a guy that believes thanks for the time Robert cheers guys where you gonna watch this Robert

Well played Bob, your time will come.
"We chelled out for 10 menits"
The journalist asked about conditions after the break, and instead of talking about conditions Bob just talks about his own prep, zero mention of conditions lol
Be patient Bob your time will come, we'll played
This kid is the real deal on tough courses – great stuff
True player.
Bobby well played your time will come!!!
Fantastic round and wonderful class. Fingers crossed a major victory comes. Keep working hard and setting a fantastic example of effort, skill, practice, mindset and sportsmanship 😊
What a Player.Made from Girders from Scotland
He played some great golf. His reaction when JJ sunk the 60 foot putt on the last green to win showed that Bob Mac is a sportsman with class. A marked contrast to how the sulky McIlroy reacted when Bryson beat him at last year's US Open. Well done Bob.
You've had some classy performances over the last couple of years and won twice but in my mind that week has seen you truly arrive on the major scene. Well done Bob. Your time will surely come.
Robert has everything required to win a Major Championship!
Superbly talented, long off the tee, magnificent iron play, incredible touch around the greens, mentally tough, and possibly the best of all the characteristics, Robert plays well on the difficult courses and in the toughest weather conditions.
The next British Major Champion!
Unlucky Bob – it's in the post bud!!
He nearly did it on the toughest course in the major calendar. He now knows he’s good enough to do it. He’s going to be our next Scottish major champion. 🏴🏴
Good answer to the snowflake reporter at the end who wanted some touchy-feelies.
What a credit to Scotland and role model for all. Well played and your time will come and soon. 👏👏👏
I bet on ROBERT (😂) every major

Irn Bru golf at its best.
