tony Fenow’s wild shot startles sleeping fan during tough US Open round tony Fenow had a forgettable opening round at the 2025 US Open but one of his shots certainly won’t be forgotten by a fan in the grandstand during Thursday’s first round at Oakmont Country Club Fenow’s second shot on the 18th hole took a bizarre bounce after striking a sprinkler head the ball ricocheted straight into the stands startling a fan who appeared to be napping at the time the moment was caught on camera and quickly went viral after the US Open’s official X formerly Twitter account posted the clip captioned “Don’t touch it tony Fen now hit a sprinkler head startled a fan and ended up in the grandstand.” Fortunately the fan was unharmed and awake as for Fenow he salvaged a par on the hole but finished the day with a 6 over 76 placing him T98 and in serious danger of missing the cut fenow’s first round struggles the Americans round included a double bogey on the second bogeies on eight 9 13 and 15 birdies on 5 12 and 17 despite a few flashes of form Feno never found his rhythm particularly on Oakmont’s lightning fast greens and punishing rough he’ll need a much improved second round to have any shot at weekend play meanwhile JJ Spawn leads the pack at four under with Thorbjorn Olesen close behind friends what is your opinion about this
