An update live from Friday. It is cut day at the 2025 United States Open at Oakmont where doctors. The projected cut as we speak is four over par. What might it be at the end of this very long and brutal Friday at what the golfers playing it right now called the hardest course in the world in Oakmont, showed its teeth in the opening round on Thursday. We saw some guys under par in JJ Spaun around one leader at four under, but really through the rest of the day, it was difficult. Jon Rahm,e only guy with one of the five best prices pre tournament to be under par in red figures on Thursday is already on the course right now. He is one over through his first four holes on this Friday. Back to even. Of course you see Scottie Scheffler there as well. Three over par in his opening round. The reigning United States Open champion Bryson DeChambeau also three over par. And Rory McIlroy. When we were live on air yesterday, doctors got off to a great start but I think made triple later on in his round and fell all the way back to four over. Oakmont takes no prisoners. We saw that on a Thursday. We are seeing that early here on this Friday as well. Yeah it’s the expectations right. Only eight golfers here minus one or better ins tournament, which is unbelievable. Usually it’s eight golfers in the first 20 minutes are already under par in any one of majors here. Augusta, whatever you have, you but this tournament, it’s just going to take you got J.J. Spaun minus four under. What’s his goal for the rest of the weekend? Just play par golf. He probably walks away with it, but as you said, you must hit every fairway because if you don’t, you are probably going to bogey that hole. Case in point, as you just talked about Rory McIlroy yesterday, wow. Didn’t expect him to have a great start here. Check in later in the day. Completely fell off. Not because he played bad golf because he played one bad shot on one hole here. That gets you caught up in the rough where you just can’t recover. That’s the fun of this okay. Take your so many tournaments right back at Augusta. Take your medicine. Take the stroke penalty in a major. It’s okay. Just, you know, play for on a par 5 or 6 instead of a five here and not get yourself in trouble. That’s not the case at this point. Like you put one ball in the far off the fairway, which gets stuck in a bad spot in the rough. You’re not you’re not. Oh, that’s triple bogey at this point. Now that’s what you love. Two and three shot leads disappear immediately in this tournament. That’s the fun of it. Yes they certainly do doctors. So the pre round two odds you saw JJ Spaun being around one leader. Best round of the day four under 66 at a 12 to 1 price. It was tied for third best entering this Friday alongside one of the early stories at Oakmont in the 2025 US open. A guy that has won a United States Open, two of them prior in five major championships in his career, that is Brooks Koepka. He remains in a tie for third at two under par. He was 12 to 1 entering this Friday in round number two, bogeyed his first hole, went back to back birdies on two and three. Now has carded another bogey. He falls back to even so far in his first six holes on this Friday, but doctors at two under Brooks Koepka just two back Tristan Lawrence the South African sandwiched in between a three under 67 and round number one. Yeah it’sd stuff overall too. Brooks Koepka like welcome back here. Nice to know you used to be one of those dominant athletes we’re talking about. Like maybe he was Scottie Scheffler before we saw Scottie Scheffler. But the fun always is here at the FanDuel sports book and many books here Ben is what Scheffler seven back I write him off. No no no no no he’s the favorite. He’s the favorite to win this year actually Rahm just clicked there to a plus 550 to take over. So maybe he’s playing some good golf with some good shots right now. But Rahm right now the favorite in the clubhouse. But again just a laugh of I’m seven shots back and I’m still expected to win this tournament. Not one not one shot back seven shots back. And still the expectations will win this thing. Yeah yeah. And Scottie Scheffler with a three over par. We’re not used to saying over par for Scheffler at all. Certainly in major championships. That plus 650 price entering round two second best behind Jon Rahm. Again Jon Rahm the favorite entering this second round. He is at even par Scottie Scheffler one under through his opening four holes on this Friday. He is on the course as we speak right now outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Steady. Scottie Wright got off to a slow start at the PGA Championship, ended up winning the Wanamaker Trophy of his career by five shots. Scottie Scheffler is going to remain in the fight all weekend long, so let’s look at those live odds as DRS mentioned. Plus 550. Jon Rahm the favorite by a dollar in front of Scheffler. Brooks Koepka now the third best price by himself at 10 to 1. JJ Spaun yet to tee off on this Friday. That will come around 12:52 p.m. Eastern time. He will start on the back nine a little bit before 1 p.m. Eastern. He has an 11 to 1 price that is the fourth best best round on the course right now for a variety of guys. DRS is two under early Viktor Hovland two under today, tied for fifth, one under for the tournament. Sam Burns two under. Today he is even Daniel Berger two under. Today also even par alongside Sam Burns. And also you’re taking a look at you still want to back a guy right. With pedigree been there done that. Has won a r championship or maybe multiple ones here. That’s why I take a look at Brooks Koepka. We haven’t heard from him for a while. Goes to Liv golf, gets all that money and maybe settling in saying I got my money, how much more do I need? I want a couple major championships. But if you remember, won the open in 17 and 18. He’s been there on these type of courses and had a lot of success. It has been a while, but you have a guy that’s been there, done that. Those are the guys want to keep my eyes open to Koepka playing really good golf early on. That’s a name to watch. Finally, it was always a name to watch and now it is again. He steps up in these moments. Doctors, there is no doubt about it. He excels at major championship golf when the going gets tough. For most, that is where Brooks Koepka thrives. And just to say right, he is even par today. He is carded a couple of birds, but a couple of bogeys on the card as well. His updated live round score over under 72.5. So you might be thinking so right around even par no par at Oakmont is 70 over under 72.5. For a guy that is even they are still expecting him to be a few over on this Friday. Koepka a 5 to 1 price to be the leader after our opening two rounds at Oakmont a little bit later, in just about an hour from now, we’ll have Keith Stewart live from the media center at Oakmont to tell us how this course is faring, how it is playing, what we can expect here in the early morning hours on Cut Day Friday. And of course, how difficult this course might become as it dries out and gets faster later on this Friday afternoon in favor of the morning wave yesterday. Donny, there is no doubt about it. Will it do the same on Round number two, already underway at Oakmont in the 2025 United States Open, it is cut day Friday outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where we find our guy, Keith Stewart, for a third consecutive day live in the media center at Oakmont. With round two underway golfers on the course in this morning wave, everybody trying to make as many red numbers as they can to stay in front of that projected cut line. The updated projected cut, four over par at the very difficult test that is Oakmont. Keith, as always, we appreciate the time. Thanks for being here once again, Ben. Donny. Good morning. Good morning to everyone. And don’t get to the projected cut line at plus four. Don’t get too fixated on that. It’s 2016. The last time we were here it was plus six. And right now they’re projecting better than a 50% chance it ends up at plus seven. It’s a little overcast today. It’s definitely humid. It’s definitely still hot. The golf course has been sticky this morning. Some guys have been doing some scoring on the back nine. But the front nine I’d be concerned with Keith very early on. Yesterday in the opening round when you joined us live, I asked you a question with 14 guys in red figures. How was Oakmont faring in the opening round? Considered the most difficult golf course maybe in the world at this current juncture? Well, round one scoring average 7474 .64. The hardest opening round at the United States Open since 2018. So what did you make of Oakmont’s resolve in the carnage we saw yesterday? What can we anticipate in this round two Friday? I Ben, that was a great question yesterday. I mean, the Am wave alone just a couple hours after we got done. They were five over par as far as their scoring average. The PM wave was a little bit less. It played about what I thought it was. 11 guys finished under par yesterday. I think it will be around that same number today. We’ve got some decent cloud cover, some humidity. Like I said, I think it’s going to stay tacky for a little while today, but some of these hole locations are what’s really spicy. If you could get through holes one, two and three and even par, you’re going to feel pretty good about yourself. I mean, yesterday, the second hole, one of the shortest par fours on the golf course, played third toughest. It’s because of those pin positions and the severity of the greens. You really got to pay attention to what’s going on right now. This mega group that went off the back with Scottie and Viktor Hovland, which has been hot on the back nine. They’re going to head into one, two and three. Brooks is heading into one, two and three right now. You’re going to see some some really good theater there. Where is the guys like Rahm and Jordan who got beat up on the front nine this morning? They’re circling to the back and I think they’ll do some scoring. At the end of the day, I think it’s going to be right around the same number. And we’re looking at these afternoon guys really fighting to cut sweat right around 6 or 7. That’s going to be fun to watch too. And like Ben and I talk about like how fun the US open is, where you can have a 3 or 4 shot lead, just absolutely disappear after one hole here and continue to fight back. We’re taking a look at Viktor Hovland right now. Minus four under on the day, as well as Sam Burns at minus four under on the day. Some of these guys can get hot today. But the expectations for you, Keith. Right. We have eight players right now under par. If I ask you this question by the end of today, is it going to be 910 or 11 under par or let’s just say three, 4 or 5 people under par? It’s definitely going to be single digits. Donny. I don’t think five. I think that it’s not the weather and the wind. There’s no wind. The weather, again, with all the cloud cover and the idea that the rain is coming in for tonight and into tomorrow, I think the place won’t be as as fiery as it could be. So I think there’ll be somewhere between like, six and nine guys left under par by the end of 36 holes. I mean, hey, you know, you got situations like JT today. He’s on the 12th hole, the par five. He’s putting for birdie from 22ft. He walked off with seven double bogey you know four putts later and three of them from inside four feet I mean it can happen quick around here. But I think one of the biggest stories coming out of today is and this week so far is Brooks Koepka. He’s clad in the in the gold and black today in honor of, I guess, the Steelers, the Penguins or the Pirates. You take your pick. But it’s a strong move on his part. And Nike and he’s making a strong move this week. I mean, he’s been nowhere in major championships since he won in Oak Hill two years ago in 2023. I mean, he’s had one top 20 since then and it was the US open following that. His last two major championships are missed cuts. I mean this guy was the Terminator in major championships, especially tough setups like this. It’s nice to see him back. People are fired up for it. Yeah, certainly. So a five time major champion, Brooks Koepka elevating his game on this stage. But as Keith warned, when you start on the front, even if it’s your final nine holes of Friday, it’s difficult. Brooks did just bogey the first hole, his 10th of the day. He has fallen back to one under par. He was two under yesterday. Keith of our five betting favorites entering this tournament at the United States Open, Jon Rahm was the only guy in red figures yesterday. He was the round two favorite enteg at plus 550 a dollar in front of Scottie Rahm ever so slightly at 8 to 1. Live right now on the FanDuel sports book. Is that betting favorite but some well known names still in the hunt. Viktor Hovland we have talked about, of course, Scottie Scheffler. He is one over right now. Brooks Koepka in the fold. How do you expect the big names to perform to finish out this Friday and enter the weekend at Oakmont? I love the position we’re in with Jon Rahm. He was an early lead on the early line, you know back on Wednesday and he hit the ball fantastic yesterday number one off the tee. And we talked a ton about that. How you have to hit fairways. It’s an absolute stripe show. And then he gained another two strokes on the field with his approach game. The ball striking is really really good. And all that creativity I talked about around the greens, he’s doing that as well. He’s just come off the tougher nine you watch in the next two hours, he is going to bring that score back under par. He’s going to be sitting under par. One of the few guys that will be there going into the weekend, and he won’t have to worry about this afternoon. He’ll be well rested for moving day on Saturday. I love our Rahm position. And you know what? If you’re not in on it now, it’s time to get in. Just like we had J.J. Spaun yesterday. First round leader coming out of this show. You want to get on? Ryan, I cashed that ticket, Keith on J.J. Spaun. And he did finish as the first round leader at four under. You said the bird in the hand. We made good on that final 40s of this segment. Let’s focus on JJ Spaun. What does he do for an encore on this Friday in round two? Well, the one thing he has to maintain, Ben and it’s very difficult to do, is he gains four strokes on the field yesterday putting. And I just don’t know how that’s going to happen again. He made 90ft a putt putts and he chipped in in order to come up with that 66 leading the way. You saw yesterday as it got late in the day. Those last couple holes coming in were really, really difficult. I had a number of outrights out here. Look at Sam Burns. He was three under par. He finished on the back nine, bogey, double bogey, bogey and he was plus two before you knew it you know it. So do not count your chickens before they get into the house. No doubt about it. JJ Spaun right now 10 to 1 tees off later today just short of 1 p.m. Eastern. Keith, have a great weekend at the
