it’s not so bad to have a roof is it Mr martinez because that’s what’s going on outside right now but inside it’s nice the pitching matchup today a couple of southpaws mackenzie Gore for the Nationals and Eastston Lucas his 15th major league appearance his first major league start this is in effect Max Scherzer’s spot in the rotation right now they need somebody to fill in foul sherzer is on the IIL cj Abrams will lead it off four for eight two doubles a home run and a few very nice defensive plays over the last couple of games in the air to right not deep and it is Santandere to make the catch lucas picks up his first out of the afternoon here is the second base today for the Nationals ahmed Rosario getting his first start of the series you remember that big deal the Mets getting Lindor cleveland got both Rosario and Jimenez there’s a foul pop caught by Heinman and Rosario retired two down so Kar Ruiz steps in hitting 412 seventh in the league hey Bear Ruiz on an 02 pitch got jammed and he’s going so well even the shortstop playing him to pull couldn’t get to it and now he’s eight for 18 this year so a base runner for the Nationals with two down and now here’s James Wood hitting in the cleanup spot today is poked on the ground to first spear on a hop by Guerrero he’ll go to the bag and end the inning nice first inning of work for Eastan Lucas no runs a hit one left no score well for Mackenzie Gore 32 starts last year going to build on that this year really one of the biggest stories of opening day six innings one hit 13 strikeouts against the Phillies bashette off to a 375 start 9 for 24 and this one high in the air right center dylan Cruz he’s a natural center fielder he calls Alex call off of it now Vladimir Guerrero Jr last year in Washington Vlatty hit a grand slam off McKenzie Gore fast ball hit extremely hard and Alex call right there two down and here comes Santandere off to a slow start here in his first week as a Blue Jay nobody seems too concerned santandere swings and shoots the ball to left field for a base hit bouncing toward the corner santandere taking off for second the throw skips in not in time james Wood’s throw is late and Anthony Santandere has his first extra base hit as a Blue Jay how about Anthony Santandere runner at second two down here’s Andre Jimenez the lone left-handed batter in the lineup for the Blue Jays today that’s a base hit into right field santandere’s getting the wave the throw to the plate is not in time santandere dives in head first jimenez up to second hits an RBI single and it’s one- nothing Blue Jays and here’s George Springer he is eight for 18 right in there there’s some paint from McKenzie Gore and Ernie Clement walks on four pitches all fast balls from Gore and they all missed so one down here’s Tyler Heinman and his home run this year came from the right side of the plate heman is a switch hitter trying to bunt for a base hit and he has done it that is a beauty right up the third baseline so runners at first and second and the batter was Miles Straw getting a start out in center field that ball’s hit really well out to right alex Call and Dylan Cruz and then he hits the wall and the ball comes out wait what and now the runner comes home and he is out the other runners will end up at second and third dylan Cruz a fabulous job to get there it pop loose and then the Nets able to get an out from there with a lot of traffic backed up a lot going on there a lot going on and Ernie Clement in live time having to judge whether the ball was caught or dropped and then made the gamble to round third and try to score and the Blue Jays have challenged the out call at home plate and Ruiz with the tag it looked like Ernie’s hand may have been across home plate runners out is down blue Jays dug out to a man looks like they all expected it to be overturned but that’s not the case so runners at second and third here’s Bob Bashette with two outs still one- nothing Blue Jays is lined to deep center field long chase for Cruz he closes he dives and he makes a spectacular catch a diving backhanded catch to save a couple of runs what an inning for Dylan Cruz easton Lucas getting maybe a spot start maybe the first of more than just one what has made Lucas so successful today the fact he’s thrown a lot of strikes he’s been able to throw strikes with all of his pitches swing and a miss strike three 95 at the top of the zone second punch out of the day george Springer leads it off in the bottom of the fourth called out on strikes his first time up now a ball in the air to left hit pretty well wood turns and it’s gone it’s the first home run of the season for George Springer and it’s a two to nothing lead for the Blue Jays well talk about a guy seeing the ball well he absolutely hammers that thing 20 home runs a year ago first of the season now and that’s a little more of a cushion but the biggest story so far has been the man on the mound for the Blue Jays this afternoon easton Lucas pitching into the fifth leadoff walk that’s Josh’s third free pass of the season and the second issued by East Lucas today that’s fair right at the bat Clement the relay out is the call by Mike Esesterbrook and the Nets are going to have a look and he did look safe after review the return the runner safe so call aboard on a fieldielder’s choice one down and the batter is Paul to Young and he struck him out another fast ball eastern Lucas Buck has 11 swings and misses in today’s game and nine of them have come on that fast the number nine hitter in the Nationals order lucas trying to get one more out get through five the chopper left side charged by Clement got it nice play by Ernie and what an outing by Eastston Lucas here this afternoon his first big league start five scoreless vlad 0 for two today a line out and a strikeout guerrero sends one to deep right field off the base of the wall vlatty on his way to second and in there safely hustling out of the box gets his third extra base hit of the season guerrero out at second santandere at first and there is ball four and that’s going to load him up for Ernie Clement can Clement get a hit to break this game open a little bit in the air to right he’s hit it well caught out on the track up against the wall by Call it’s a deep sack fly for Ernie Clement and the Blue Jays have a three to nothing lead so the bases are loaded again and the catcher Tyler Heinman who’s two for two he’ll go up first pitch swinging low looks like he’s got room plenty of time with a walk and a hit battery they leave the bases loaded we go to the sixth inning in Toronto cj Abrams to lead it off for Washington cj has fly a shallow right and grounded a second into a force play swing by Abrams and a drive to deep right going going gone goodbye second of this series and of the season bang zoom goes cj Abrams gets the Nationals on the board here with a leadoff home run in the sixth inning on a 1-1 pitch from Little and it’s now the Blue Jays three and the Nationals won this is Brad Lord a right-hander into the game for the Nationals how about Miles Straw his third hit of the game and his second double of the afternoon make that three hits two doubles today for Miles Straw brings the infield in for the Nationals and Vladimir Guerrero Jr just needs a fly ball or a wellplaced grounder to bring in a run ground ball to short abrams is coming home it’s a high throw and the runner is safe it’s an RBI fielder’s choice for Vlad an error by Abrams to advance Guerrero to second and most importantly it’s four to one Blue Jays and for the second day in a row Jeff Hoffman is in here to try to get a save against Washington and he picks a good fast ball upstairs makes quick work of Garcia for out number one ground ball to second easy play for Jimenez and very quickly two down here in the ninth inning james Wood two for 10 first pitch into right field now the Nets need another base runner nathaniel Low get a super salvage here 0 for three with strikeouts that’ll be into the right field corner james Wood heading for third taking a long lick rookie Ricky Gutierrez will send him home and wow on two consecutive swings the Nets on the board for two and now Bell is the tying run bell off the end of the bat it’s going to stay fair great grounds through right against the inside of the chalk line and that sends low to third and the Nats are still breathing here in the ninth jacob Young has come out to run for Josh Bell young representing the tying run young’s got great speed 33 steals a year ago the batter is Alex Call the young right fielder who’s 0 for three today there goes Young they’ll throw through and they got him tyler Heinan throws out Jacob Young to end the ball game what a way to end it young with 33 steals a year ago is clearly out and that’ll do it that caps off a series sweep four-2 the final score and another save for Jeff Hoffman

How many times they challenge and never goes their way. Honestly I think Angel Hernandez is doing the calling in New York
Blue Jays are currently #1 in the AL East. Im screen capping this moment because who knows when it'll happen again 😂
Take October, baby!!!
Woah our bats are looking pretty impressive
Swept 🧹🧹
Wow. Lucas looked good.
Gimenez is shining bright on the Blue Jays! He's going to have a monster year.
I know it’s early in the season. And I only saw the highlights. But, this looked like a really amazing game. Lots of excitement. So, the 2025 Jays…… appear to have a great team.❤
First sweep of the year!! And off the back of Easton Lucas out-pitching the Nats ace, which I certainly didn't expect! These are not the Jays of last year or the year before anymore, they can hit! Springer truly looks like his old self again, and even Myles Straw had 3 hits today! David Popkins is a miracle worker!! Great start to the season, and now first place in the AL East! Hope the good time continue to roll at Citi Field over the weekend:) GO JAYS!!!
1st in the AL east let’s go
Let's go Blue Jays! 👏👏 👏👏👏
Is it me or does the dome feel a lot colder and darker with the redesign?
I know it's early, but could the jays actually be good this year?!
Not bad start for the Blue Jays
What a throw to end the game. Right on the money.
The Toronto Blue Jays are 5-2🔵⚪️🔴🇨🇦🐦
Thought the home opener was a preview for what's to come……. pleasantly surprised they got on the right track following that disaster
Well, Max, last start, I said it wasn't a major league season if he wasn't injured.
MYLES STRAW HAS SOMETHING TO PROVE
Blue Jays are playing great. Sad that Vladdy will leave 😔
Are the Nats announcers actually applauding when something good happens? Frikkin' homers…
Jays are in first place. Will it last?😮
JAYS🎉🎉
💙
Lucas threw like a Champ!!
Why still a base if the game is high stakes for your team I don’t get it
4:05 love Scherzer’s reaction, he’s a gamer
Tyler H!! Catching…. My neighbors son in law. He gave my son a bat today. Via his mom.
1) Did I see Vlad … running? out of the box? twice?
2) Look what happens when you have a real catcher behind home plate.
3) Why is Schneider such a clown with appeals?
Go jays go yessir
最後盜壘的,打球觀念要加強
YouTube is getting very liberal with all these ads. You can't even sit and enjoy an 10min clip because it's riddled with ads like a bullseye with bullet holes
Besbol⚾️🇺🇲
What's the point of having video review when you still get it wrong?
Every time they say James Wood, I just think of that Family Guy episode where Peter and James Woods are buddies and they sing that song "I've got James Woods."
CJ ABRAMS is the best player in the MLB by far… no question in my mind
Wonderful win !
wow vladdy actually running out a ball that mayy have a chance of leaving andd all this small ball… i like the looks of this team, now just stay HEALTHY!!
look hong kong
Baseball is all about pitching and defence. And that is going well.
Looks Go BJs!
maybe ill watch baseball this year…
How could there be snow in Toronto after the Spring Equinox? I thought it was impossible after that point, sort of like how I thought that rain in Northern California (like SF Bay Area for the Giants, or Sacramento Area for the Athletics (before moving to Vegas in 2028)), where I'm from.
Even after all these years and this insane amount of talent, Guerrero is STILL watching his flyballs and barely getting to second on near misses… Mindbogling
I swear the BJs better hit a lot of HR’s this season because any fifty fifty calls are going to go to the other team because of American refs not liking the booing of their anthem 🤔😏🙄
Game 36
Let's go Blue Jays 💙!
"great grounds crew"
Great game! Go Jays!
yankees use a modified bat money talks nooooo problem folks
