well you can see the grand stands are already packed it is a practice championship Tuesday here at Oakmont Country Club as the best players in the world are out here taking on the brutal test that we’re going to see unfold this week for the 125th US Open if you’ve ever had a dream in this game it’ll probably be to play in this championship at some point and across all of the open qualifying we have seen some remarkable stories from players fighting to make their way into this field and golf’s longest day certainly delivers the good cam Young one of the great stories he survived a dramatic final qualifying in Columbus Ohio birdieing three of his last four holes to force his way that was his birdie on his final horn in regulation into a 5for one playoff he then clinched his US Open spot by sinking this 12 foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole and believe it or not it’s Cam Young but his emotions were running high and after a challenging season he would qualify into this field he would finish tied for fourth just last week in Canada which would put him in that exemption status but it was a big moment for him as he tries to regain the kind of form that he had in majors back in 2022 his best finish coming at the open so bear with me on this footwork is an important aspect of a solid game so let’s see why Cam Young chooses to wear Premier Series shoes in this edition of Footwork Focus presented by FootJoy especially with my footwork uh I roll up onto my left foot pretty well the outside of my left foot and for me the stiffness in the sole of the Premieres really helps my foot kind of work more as one piece as opposed to you know the the toe going and then the heel or the heel and then the toe um so it’s kind of just one less one less piece less motion in that part of the swing for me um so it’s just a bit more stability the Premieres I feel like are just an icon of you know golf footwear so they’ve got a number of different looks and I I kind of like that more traditional feel to them well in 124 previous editions of the US Open you can see it is a very smallest of winners who have gone on to get through both well local and final qualifying just two kenurian Orville Moody hasn’t been done in final qualifying since Lucas Glover in 2009 so for more on Cam Young and his story and his journey to getting here this week let’s send it back down to Kerry K dixon
