[Music] trail running season is back in session oh so exciting taking out a brand new company into the studio there it is okay very exciting uh to take this guy out it’s been sitting on the shelf for just a little too long some of you probably already own it but they’re not giving it away yes indeed that’s the title of the vlog um you know when you find a shoe that is the uh And actually let’s put it on the scale you guys get my gut reaction here uh when you find a shoe whether it’s the lightest whether it’s the uh most affordable whether it’s got the best outsole grip whether it’s got the most bounce whether it’s got a great uh well great uh price point but in this case not so much but that’s okay you know this is this is like okay 10 ounces is what the scale is saying right there very interesting um listen I commend new companies for going for it you know companies that are trying to put out a product that we’ve never seen in the marketplace why competition competition competition the more competition in the marketplace the better for all of us with respect to quality and and and hopefully value okay so that’s that’s the goal as we continue to progress in life and pursuing goals on the trails and the roads and you’re like “Okay I want to try a new company i want to try to save some money this year oh I got a promotion at my job i’m going to buy a nicer uh shoe this year a nicer trail shoe this year.” That’s where this guy comes in parhelion parhelion there is the full name on your screen okay the Norda Par Helion very interesting i don’t even I have no idea what that even means but let’s dive in all right upper stout build quality through the roof or maybe abrasion resistance would be a better way to put it if you kick a rock or root you’re not going to tear that upper very easily i suspect i suspect and it’s not incredibly thick uh but it’s definitely not breathable so if you prefer some airflow on your feet you’re not going to get it with this upper uh the tongue laid on top it is a full gusset okay i’m glad I double checked wow very interesting wow very i like that i It’s a nice construction for the tongue and the connect that’s It’s nice that’s great i think the eyelet chain could use a little love and attention it was okay um just a little loosey goosey a little sloppy there i would personally replace the shoelaces i just think the shoelaces were not elastic enough if that makes sense oh boy the hardest part of the entire shoe yeah the entire shoe the heel counter the the collar it just it’s just it’s just like paper you know just there’s no I don’t know i just wanted a little more feel around the ankle and I there’s no pad and it didn’t hurt walking at first you know as soon as I put the shoes on i was like oo I hope I don’t get a blister on the back of my I did not and there was no rubbing but I wish there was a little more attention to that heel counter just a little more something a little more something like if I was going out for 2 three four hours on the trails I 100% would wear thick socks uh nice toe cap and again you’re not it’s going to keep the grit and the grime and some water out not all but it’s going to keep your feet fairly protected inside that upper i don’t know all the details again this is my just just my first impression not a full review uh Vibram it appears Norda has a huge partnership with Vibram because the midsole you know usually Vibram is the outsole but the midsole and that midsole is where is it okay i think I was getting about a 40 wait hold on yeah 43 44 on that durometer so it’s it’s it’s nice it feels the thumb test feels nice it’s it’s a nice feeling i gotta say the ride was was enjoyable and I could see it doing well for 15 20 maybe 25 miles you know if you’re really getting into some serious training out there I don’t think I’d put it in the racing department but as far as serious training I like the midsole i like the ride uh again I’ll keep testing and take it to some more extreme situations here in the high country of Colorado very very soon now you know what I was saying at the beginning about the price point and Oh yeah oh I almost forgot okay hold on hold on maybe okay this is it’s a tie it’s probably a tie the sock liner lots of good goodness here some good ingenuity like some sock liners are like nah what are you doing this has some nice give to it and it’s it’s basically I don’t know if you can see it there on this just has some nice forgiveness for that sock which is a very small detail like most shoes I don’t even pull the sock liner out i noticed it immediately in the testing like ooh they’re doing something different in that sock liner and sure enough and again I don’t know d with Norda with daea daineea there it is on your screen that is the sock liner I think name it’s a registered trademark daea uh so I again I don’t know that company this is this is a brand new company in the stable okay the outsole they’re on to something here it’s now it’s lightbased meaning it’s a product of Vibram they’re so I believe 5mm lug depth all right I’ll confirm that on your screen 5mm lug depth but the the pattern the outsole pattern is something to behold it and again I wish I would have had mud today i did not but I think this outsole is going to it’s going to grip so not only does it have the you know kind of like a a fairly standard uh lug pattern with with respect to the base of it but then it also has these little knobs that almost are uh like little micro spikes that you would see on winter running shoes for ice and snow but they’re rubber they’re not metal you know they’re they’re rubber and oh I Okay that’s probably the highlight of the sho the shoe is the outsole and maybe that’s why maybe that’s what maybe the ingenuity of that is why they are asking for $285 now maybe that price is expired but as far as I can tell $285 i’m not sure what that is in Canadian and I don’t know but that’s a lot so is it a buy in the studio no i’m sorry it’s it’s it’s not a buy it’s it’s a fun shoe and let’s do that yeah see it’s got some good energy return there but I would say that is pushing the limits quite a bit in the price department and it is the most expensive trail running shoe I’ve ever tested okay question of the day i don’t know it has nothing to do with shoes per se well maybe it does but if you could only pick one professional trail mountain or ultra runner to go do a training run with who would it be and why all right that’s the question of the day and that comment of the day this is from Ian from yesterday bought the Ultralide 3Es for my 100 mileer Eastern States 100 in August started with four pairs of V1 two pairs of V2 and now the V3s the shoe works for me i love it i love the Ultralide from Solomon good pick there Ian for your and best of luck with your Eastern States 100 in August onward and upward um that was fun all right good to test a new company and we got we got to pinch pennies in the studio sometimes so it is not a buy all right we’ll toss it to the trail running shoe playlist right there seek beauty work hard and love each other see you tomorrow

Suggestion: Just check the manufacturerβs website before doing the review! Unfortunately I think you lost a little credibility with this review. But thank you still for everything you do Seth.
If i were to do a run with a pro it would have to be Courtney Dauwalter! I know it would be fun and there would be nachos and beer after!
What specs third party? Not on runrepeat
As a bigger runner who tends to run very technical trails and am very hard on shoes I typically never get more than 100-150 miles from a shoe β¦ this 001 is by far the most durable shoe Iβve owned at 200 miles Iβd say itβs only 15% worn out β¦ and that alone makes the price point better than most other shoes β¦ also give the midsole about 50ish miles to really break in and become ππΌππΌππΌ
I considered buying a Norda pair…..but the heel turned me off. Also the price is ridiculous.
Why didnβt you add the runners loop to the laces? I donβt find it sloppy at all.
But they last twice as long as other brands
What are some good trail runners for 14ers? Do you typically size up?
The 001 takes about 100km to break in. Once that happens, itβs magical. I did a long term review on my channel for anyone interested. They are amazing! Parhelion is one of the colours of the 001.
Things are getting crazy with pricing in the trail running space. Reminds me of when the mountain bike industry decided to triple the price of bikes and price 1/2 the people out of the sport.
QD. It would have to be Courtney Dewalter because of the great snacks and smiles π
285 $ ?

NORDAS uh oh. Stepping it up Seth?. Love my 001s and my SATISFY 001s.
NORDA 001 have been proven to last 1000 miles.
YouTube Norda 001. PCT .
DOH. 001….what a name?!? Sorry about that everyone, Norda didn't send a spec sheet with the shoe, so I was just going off of the website information. If you check it out I think you'll see what I was confused on the name….but maybe its just me. Cheers to Saturday πΊ

Golden time to hit the trails with all the wildflowers in bloom and before it gets too hot
In my experience it takes about 50 miles to break in. Once that happens you are good to go for 700 miles. Iβve worn them at many distances even a 100 miler. You need to try the 005 that shoe is an amazing for a race shoe.
Appreciate your honesty on price point. Shoes are great but wonβt make us better runners long term. Better to save the 100-150 bucks, buy a still very solid trail shoe, and stay a night somewhere with the family.
Courtney Dauwalter⦠all day long.
i have the norda 005 & that shoe is awesome & light as a feather & built like a tank, this is the one to try
Doesnβt seem like it is even in the same league as the Speedland. I really hope that was respectful. Thank you so much for the suppression of free speech in the name of snowflakes. Grow a pair. Good Lord you have lost your mind.
I want to run up a 14er with you and your brother Seth! If that doesn't count I guess I would want to do a VK with Jennifer Lichter because I unknowingly met her before I knew who she was the morning of JFK50 2023 in the hotel lobby. I thought she worked there because she wasn't dressed like she was ready to race, had a gigantic backpack on and was looking around behind the front desk for something because the receptionist wasn't there. I asked her if she worked there because I didn't know what to do with my keycard. She said no and told me she was looking for some kind of form or something. Her boyfriend walked up and I asked him if they were racing and he said he was, but didn't say Jen was… he must've been trying to protect her identity!lol
