muuro start talking buddy all right Carlos Ortiz three under 67 great playing out there today can you just talk us through the round uh it was a great round i played good um I think uh I drove it pretty decent i I hit good shots i put it okay um honestly I think I did everything pretty good yeah flawless round of golf until 18 how do you just put that bogey behind you going into tomorrow i mean it’s a bogey i mean it just happens here uh uh I didn’t hit the best drive i had a good lie and and it just throws the face but all in all it was it was a good round doesn’t really matter if I boogie 18 or not um when you when you were halfway through your round yesterday and I think you’re probably round six over going to the second nine what was on your mind back then and would you have thought you could be in this position a Yeah I was playing really good i had obviously um a little stumble there on the front nine but my game was strong i was playing really good i just had to keep doing what I was doing and um and and it worked out obviously played really good the back nine but uh I mean I was hitting a lot of good shots so it was just that kind of stumble that I had in the first night but how do you how do you keep the belief that you’re playing good when the course is beating the crap out of you honestly the only thing I’m trying to do is just do my best and then start in the first hole and pick it out on the 18 uh whatever whatever whatever that is you know uh it’s it’s hard out there um and I’m just trying to do my best honestly uh congratulations doing really well you’re in a great position now going into the final round of the tournament um how do you feel about where you’re at good i mean how I said I’ve been trying to do my best that’s all I have u hopefully it’s enough uh if not you know I don’t have anything else um there have been seven first time major winners here at this iconic venue in Oakmont what would it mean to you and to your family to become number eight i mean it would be great you know winning uh any kind of tournament is awesome uh but how I said I I’m just going to do my best and hopefully that’s enough if not it was all I had are you enjoying it though is it Is it Is it right to say you’re having fun given how tough the course is i mean I guess you can say you’re enjoying it i don’t know how much you can you enjoy it obviously it’s it’s tough out there are you just hitting the putts and hoping it doesn’t go past the hole but um yes I I guess I’m enjoying it in a way was it today compared to yesterday um it was easier I feel to hit greens and and and fairways because how soft they are uh but you still have to hit them you know the rough is is is thick um you you have to be good T to green and then obviously make sure you get it somehow around the hole did it occur to you at all on 18 that you had made a bo all day i mean yeah of course you know i mean I know I hadn’t made a bogey but uh I’m sure you don’t want to think about that no no you don’t want to think about bogies but I mean it happened i I wasn’t think about it i always thought I was going to make a par or at least I was going to have a try and be five carlos what uh what have you figured out about major championship golf that you may not not have known last time you played a major i mean it’s been a while since I’ve played at maybe LA uh I’ve been working really hard on my game i have a completely different game than I had in my last major i feel that I’ve done a lot of good work with my coach to to get the swing to be more consistent and hit hit the shots when I need to uh and I was just excited to be able to start playing majors again because I feel like I’m I’m playing good enough to to compete on these things and it just been hard for me to get into into this but now I have this and and and the open championship next so I’m I’m excited about that how How are you specifically a different player what what was about your game before that wasn’t conducive to I mean I’m older but I guess a little bit wiser um I would like to think uh and also I I’ve changed a lot of on the swing you know like uh where I I I can really um hit the shots I want to when when I want to and that’s all you need you know to to win tournaments so I feel like I’ve been doing that quite consistently i’ve been playing good golf this year and and putting everything together so just the right time you know by the summer when it’s the time so I’m I’m happy about that what part of your game has improved the most since the last time you won on PG tour i feel like everything um I’ve worked hard on my short game with Pete uh my long game with my coach Edo and and and the putting with um with Eric so I’ve been doing a good job on on working on all the areas and I feel like I’m a stronger player than I than I was before say the name of the swing coach one more time ed Mikuel same as So Carlos you’ve won once already this year you won twice last year did you come in with some quiet confidence um I just came in and trying to do my best honestly I I that’s all I’m trying to do i’m trying to just play the best I can obviously you have to be smart and and be patient everything but I’m just trying my best from your last time here in 16 that experience um the short experience what were you expecting when you came back for this one i wasn’t really expecting anything i was just um I know I was a different player i was more mature and I was excited about the challenge see how you know how different I could uh face this this this challenge it’s a challenge different player same course different player same course same course and Carlos just a couple questions in Spanish now fore speech forch [Music] good over
