Diamondbacks have lost 12 of their last 17 games. They cannot find any kind of consistency whatsoever. So they’ll go to Merrill the mainstay to try to get back on track. Jp Crawford starts it off on a Monday night in downtown Phoenix 32. Boy didn’t get the call from dan. So he had him on a beautiful change up and the crew chief missed that one dangerous hitter up there right now. And Julio Rodriguez, this is tap to third Geno for one. Marte will not try to turn two. Here is Raley who recently became the first catcher in major league history to get to 20 home runs before June 1st. He leads the majors with 26 tangle up there with Naylor and Rodriguez, but he’s back in time says CB Bucknor and they will challenge. They think they picked off Rodriguez that throw just led him right into the rib cage of Rodriguez. That time Merrill’s move was so quick that CB Buckner had to get back to a spot to make the call and he’s clearly out. Rodriguez has picked off bases empty. The one swung on a line drive right field playable. Carroll comes in, makes the belt catch and was a little wonky Merrill faces the minimum in a scoreless top of the first Emerson Hancock starting game one for the Mariners 26 year old right hander. 2 to 2 in 10 starts. 519. a Corin Carroll still recovering from a bit of a hamstring thing will lead it off. Corbin sends this one to the bullpen way out there and it’s off the top of the wall. Carroll one pitch in and it’s 1 to 0 Diamondbacks that a ball game right there. Number 19 for Corin was able to keep that one fair and bounce it right off the top of the wall. Ninth career leadoff home run in his fifth already this year, Marte up there and he’s been cranking them out here lately. Four home runs in his last six games, soft chopper young soft blob over to first base and there is out. Number one here is Eraldo perdomo swings and lines a base hit into left field and de aggressive early against Hancock two hits through the first three batters and with a man aboard it brings up Naylor swinging a high fly ball into center field and deep Julio going back to the one track he gets there in time tagging at first, heading for second is perdomo, but two outs in the inning, here comes the former Mariner. We just did the Geno reunion tour in Cincinnati and of course , he played with the Mariners after that before coming to the Diamondbacks, he swings the first pitch. Diamondbacks been very aggressive this first inning young waving his arms. He’s got it and that is going to retire the side. Everybody swinging at the first pitch for the Diamondbacks. Polanco comes in having it safely in four straight games. Five of six, this finds a hole on the right side with a leadoff single leadoff man for the second straight inning, a ball, one strike to a rose arena right back up the middle of the center field for a base hit the Mariners set the table nicely here, consecutive singles. First two men aboard. Nobody. And here is swung on ground ball to second. Has it goes to PDO for one, the throw to first in plenty of time for two. It is a 463 double play exactly what Kelly needed right there and now two outs for Miles Mastrini and he goes to old faithful. That changeup gets the swing and Miss Cole Young leading things off got a little help from Dan is so on that sinker who said it came back just enough catch the edge of the zone. He got his second strikeout. Crawford slices this out to shadow left center field for a base for the second time. Crawford is in a really good groove and here comes Julio Rodriguez hitting behind him. Kelly’s 12 pitch to Rodriguez is a check swing and this time went around down on Kelly picks up strikeout number three, the strand one and we go to the bottom of the third Carroll going to lead things off for the Diamondbacks. Here’s the pitch swung on a miss got him Hancock fastball 95 just zipped it by him top of the zone. And that’s the second strikeout for Emerson, got it on his hands , popped it up. Williamson and Crawford JP underneath it makes the catch and that is a tidy 123 inning for Emerson Hancock, Josh Taylor going to lead things off for the Diamondbacks in the fourth inning up the middle and a base hit into center field, a ground ball knocked for Naylor to start the fourth. Really put a good at bat on Hancock that time start to the fourth. Here comes Geno swung on hard hit right to second base. Young backs up on it, flips it to second JP. Has it fires to first in time. Double play. Suarez hits into AD P. It was nicely turned by hit pretty hard who had to back up on it. He’s got a smile on his face. He talked it over with JP leading things off. Did he go? Yes, he did. Adam Beck strikeout number five for Merrill Kelly got some help. That’s that sinker that he throws in the lefties which runs away from the left hander and just catches or supposed to catch the inside edge of that line and he got some help from dan is swung on broken back leader to right. Carroll has it. That’s going to do it for Seattle. Another 123 frame turned Kelly Thomas will lead things off. Here’s the one swung on. There’s a hard hit liner in the left field of base, hit another opposite field swing and a positive result for Thomas to get the fifth started. Herrera struck out his first time up the pitch that is bunted softly back to the pitcher. Hancock picks it up with a bare hand. He throws to first. It’s a 1 to 3 sack bunt and now Thomas in scoring position for Carroll swing and a pop up. Ein played left side off of the mask is Cal Raley is there plenty of room and he makes the catch for the second out of the inning. Thomas at second base and two outs of the conversation obviously has won a pitched to Marte with a 21 game on base streak but so far 0 to 2 Marte to center and it drops in for a hit. Here comes Alec Rodriguez with a throw and it’s not in time, Marte makes it two, make it 22 consecutive games reaching base back to back two out walks a chance. Now for Suarez who comes up with the bases full three straight half reach with two outs. Suarez has seven grand slams in his career and they’re up there for him right now. 96 and he froze them. And Emerson Hancock, a huge strikeout to Suarez Diamondbacks leave the bases loaded and Merrill is working on a streak he’s had 14 straight scoreless innings the last two innings against the nationals, all seven against the Braves and five innings so far tonight, rookie Ben Williamson leads off the Seattle six inside out to right field. Carroll plays it on a base hit for Ben Williamson to set the table here in the sixth ball four, second walk for Kelly, a single and a walk open up to six. And here comes the big boys Julio Rodriguez swing and a miss for strike three. That pitch hit Rodriguez in the front shoulder but he swung through it regardless. What a strikeout by Merrill seven strikeouts for Merrill Kelly and it only gets harder from here. He leads the majors with 26 home runs. His swing sends a high fly left center. It’s playable for, he gets behind. It makes the catch throws all the way to third two down and now Kelly and out away from getting out of this jam grounded towards first. It’s glove by Naylor. He’ll go to the bag himself and that’s six shutouts so far for Mainstay Merrill, here’s alex Thomas alex single and scored to lead off the fifth inning. First pitch into center Rodriguez will have to stop and it drops in front Alec two for three. Pizzaro faces four batters a couple of outs, a walk and a single hand things over to the lefty game. Fire comes out here in a big spot. You’ve got Curiel at second Thomas at first two outs facing Corman Carroll who has homered tonight. Fastballs inside the walk. Carroll Diamondbacks have a golden opportunity. Once again, they are one for six with runner scoring position. They’re loaded with two outs from swung on, popped up short right field. Master Boni in Cole Young out, Master Boni wants it and he will take it to catch and that is the inning Gabe Speier gets through the sixth without giving up a run. It’s Sabba of the bullpen from here on out Diamondbacks call to the bullpen. It is the lefty kyle back is Randy Ros Arena going to lead things off for the Mariners. This is pull down the line, a fair ball into the corner, extra bases for Ros Arena. He stands up with a double ground ball. Can it sneak through backhand? He’s got over there infield base hit for Cole Young to keep the line moving on the corners with two outs for Ben Williamson. The number nine man to is going to go to the veteran now and ryan Thompson pinch hitter here for Ben Williamson. This is the one time Diamondback Dominic Canzone first pitch right up the middle perdomo is there and the Diamondbacks strand two and a leadoff walk for the Diamondbacks to be in the bottom of the seventh, Josh Dalors had a nice night. Naylor punches it down the line in left Perdomo. He’s going to run right through the stop sign and score. Sean Larkin had a big hold him up and Perdomo didn’t blink. He ran right through the sign and he made it home with ease. Naylor the RB I double makes it three to zero. Bring up Gurriel, still a runner at second base hit for Lois Sean. Larkin will wave Naylor home. He will score. It’s 40. Diamondback. Go aboard for the third time tonight. One out base runner ahead of the dangerous Cal Raley. Not out of the woods yet here, Naylor. What a play. There’s one and there’s two Josh Naylor, a rocket off the bat of Cal Raley for a double play to end the eighth inning. A spectacular stab for out number two and three for Naylor and it stays 40. Wow. Top of the ninth innings leading the Mariners 4 to 0. Final three outs is the right hander. Justin Martinez five saves and 16 appearances this year. 2 to 2 on Jorge Polanco got him 101 down and in and there’s one away Rose arena has singled and doubled. He’s two for three, 100 that will get it done. So back to back strikeouts for Justin Martinez and now the Mariners are down to their final out here in the top of the ninth that will bring up Dylan Moore and he misfired to get outside. That’s a walk and some more work to do as the veteran Donovan Solano comes in. Moore will take second, uncontested one swing and a Miss sinker that time to make it one and one. And Martinez calls I believe for the trainer, something’s wrong with him. He’s calling him in for the dugout right away. As soon as he threw that pitch, here’s the pitch and watch Justin right there going to come right out of the game. Justin is not wasting any time, no hesitation from anyone out there, get him right out of the game. It’s one wave after another of injury, the key key personnel, this bullpen has been gutted by critical injuries. Here we go with Jeff Brigham who has come on and try to get the final out of this ball game. This is into the gap in right center field and that’s exactly what Donovan Solano will do. He’s driven in a run in the last two games now and the Mariners put their first run across with two outs in the ninth inning. He’s on his way to second and gets in there and different puts Solano in scoring position. Here’s the rookie young fights it off and it’s into right field soto is coming home and the Mariners score now, two runs with two outs in the ninth inning. Things get a little more interesting as the tying run comes to the plate to in a can zone left hand batter with some pop. This is happening. Can yes have come back to tie it can zone with two outs and two strikes. Wow, it has all happened in the Tom Can zone jumping up and down. His. That is just, and you know, that’s got to feel great for Tom Canzone just up from Tacoma. We are tied at four what a comeback 100 16 MPH off the bat. Four 150 ft away. He a bullet iterated that ball, no Doubter. And Jp Crawford fights a base hit. Brigham has not retired a batter. They’re four for four against him and now he makes his way out and they will have to go to, to face Julio Rodriguez julio into center field, greets Murillo with a base hit. The Mariners, have the go ahead run in scoring position. Trouble is there are two on and two out for Cal Rowling and bunt he’s on it and they at least survive with a tie game. Carlos Vargas will take over for the Mariners here in the 10th inning infield is in runners on the corners. A run wins it for the Diamondbacks in the last of the 10th inning. Ground ball. Young gets up wide throw home and it takes and he is out of the base path for out. Number two. Clay umpire says right away, you went too far, strike three called up out of the zone and Herrera is not pleased down. You go, the Diamondbacks and the Mariners turn them away here in the 10th inning, we will continue on Moore gets to third but now there are two down and here is Dominic Canzone who dealt just a crushing blow in the ninth strike three called Mariners fail to score once again in extras and we are headed to the bottom of the 11th. They will walk Marte with first base open and work to Geraldo and they’re loaded now for Naylor. Back to back walks one intentional one not. And here comes josh, who has hit the ball hard all night long high fly ball, Josh Naylor all the way to the wall and it’s a walk off grand slam just the third walk off grand slam in Diamondbacks history, second career walk off homer for Naylor and on a wild night here at chase field when the Diamondbacks saw four nothing two out. Ninth inning lead vanish. They win it 8 to 4.

  1. HOW EMBARRASSING…I swear, our bullpen is the absolute worst of the worst. Blowing a 4 run lead with ONE STRIKE LEFT is absolutely mind blowing…

  2. JRod is such a mixed bag–goes 2 for 5 but no RBI. Struck out twice and got picked off. Overall he's putting up good numbers, just not the superstar numbers he's paid to produce (his salary for this year is $20.8M). His strikeout rate continues to climb. And, when the team absolutely needs somebody to come through in the clutch, he typically fails.

  3. Another loss to a team that's below .500…
Just two more of these, and Seattle will be one of them.

Don't give me any lip about it being June. If you know how the Mariners do things, this is the very thing that ends their season early.

  4. Mariners broadcaster is cringy af. Just straight yeling nonsense. Lol mariners will never win until they fire him mark my words.

  5. If you've watched dbacks baseball for awhile you'll know end of May into June is always terrible. July/August is when the team gets going

  6. I miss real outfielders! You know, the ones who could throw out runners. Modern day MLB is all about offense.

  7. Mariners are an excellent farm team. Many great players have played for the M’s and gone to have stellar careers! Then, when stars are in their final year or two, the M’s is where they come to retire. It’s a great place to pass on their experience and knowledge to those future stars. And then there are those players that “stay” with the M’s – those who are not good enough for big money teams to poach. These are the players that are cheap to keep, yet have “good enough” days to draw fans.

It’s sad, really. Seattle fans are faithful, almost religious in their support of professional teams. Too bad Seattle owners are not running teams with championships in mind. Historically, Seattle owners have been from giant tech companies and other ventures – which means that the team isn’t their moneymaker. If they would run the team like a devoted fan, they would make a killing during postseason games and winning titles. They have the money to invest for it. They just don’t do it for some reason.

  8. Canzone did all that celebrating just for his team to lose anyway 😂
I'm all for styling up homers, but wow was that for NOTHING.

  10. Having seen this game at the stadium itself with a pair of friends, I can confidently say that the bottom 11th finisher made us SCREAM.
