and now it’s making all the rounds on social media This loan officer thing again Can we like give the definitive answer on like were you actually done was it just a stop gap just so everybody who’s now new to the Ben Griffin story can hear it from the horse’s mouth My friends at home give me so much crap They tell me I was a mortgage loan officer out of the womb You were an all-American at UNCC Like I feel like I’m taking crazy pills Social media makes it makes it seem like uh you know I was destined to be a loan officer and then all of a sudden I got pulled into professional golf The landscape of professional golf is very very difficult the the line is very thin But yeah I just had financial strain I was in the hole $17,000 I think is what my MX card was in the hole at I had no money And so I I stepped away It was a brief It wasn’t a long time I I stopped playing in uh end of March beginning of April of 2021 and I was back to golf in August So this wouldn’t be possible without Lord Abbott The CEO Doug Sig is the one who financially stepped up and said “You’re good enough to play professional golf I’m going to get you back.” and you’re gonna be a PJ tour winner and all this stuff And he’s the reason I’m playing professional golf because I actually would still be a loan maybe I wasn’t wouldn’t be a loan officer but I would still be working um without his backing him putting up a hundred $125,000 for me to play professional golf for two years and cover all my expenses So I didn’t have to ask my parents for anything When that happened I realized I have this incredible opportunity that most people never get in their lives I have to take advantage of it I have to do the right things I have to cut alcohol I was drinking a little bit more back then Cut alcohol out Um just focus on being a top professional golfer And I got on the Cornferry tour got on the PJ tour and you know fast flash forward a couple years and here we are Two time winner
