Yesterday’s two TOUR winners rock a combo set of @SrixonGolfUS irons, which might be the answer you’re looking for in your bag. Our Ryan Barath breaks down why Sepp Strak, Ryan Fox and other top pros opt for this route, and why you might consider it.
The intersection of golf and culture.
Behind every drained putt or hosel rocket into the stands is a human being with complex emotions—among them, an insatiable appetite for golf. That’s what we’re after. Golf’s humanity is what makes it so special to us. There have never been more reasons to love this game, and we’re endeavoring to explore them all.

this past week there was not one but two events on the PGA tour and both of them offer unique challenges but both of them had winners that had something in common their iron sets so in the case of Seth Straa who won the truest and Ryan Fox who won the one flight Myrtle Beach Classic they both played a combo set of stricks on irons going from ZXI7s to ZXi5s what’s also interesting is they combo them at the exact same place between the six and the 5iron and they also both play the 4 iron in that same ZXI5 model in fact Shane Lowry who came second at the Truist and Lucas Glover also combo their iron sets in the exact same way and there’s a reason players do this it has everything to do with ball speed and stopping power if you can increase your ball speed while also maintaining ball flight height and descent angle which is the angle the ball comes into the green to stop at means that you’re going to hopefully stop your irons closer to the hole which is super important when we’re talking about a place like Philadelphia for example where you need that stopping power on those firm greens now in the case of these irons talking about the ZXI5s right here they have a thinner and for lack of a better term springier face because they use a different steel insert although the rest of the body is forged and very soft and what that does is it creates extra ball speed and not only that it saves weight to push the center of gravity lower so we’re creating more ball speed and a lower center of gravity means a golf ball is going to launch higher still going to launch nice and fast and at the end of its ball flight is going to have a steeper angle of descent which means it’s going to have more stopping power so if you’re a golfer out there and you’re thinking how you want to build your iron set look to some of the best players in the world and the two winners on the PGA Tour this week if you think about once you get to those irons where you want a little bit of extra height you might want to give yourself a combo set to
