transformed so many of my students ball striking in today’s golf lesson video I’m going to give you one simple golf tip that will give you that effortless golf swing feeling that produces a lot of your bell on so you get notified of when I upload all my new videos so what is this simple golf tip that’s going to help you create that effortless power first up you need one of these bands basically a gym band really cheap off Amazon or wherever you want to get them something that’s super duper stretchy and what I want you to do is pop it over your lead arm so it’s around your armpit and over your head like so then what I want you to do is just grab it with both of your thumbs around one thumb around the other and then you can still grip your golf club whilst doing it another way you can set it up is literally just pop it around your lead hand thumb and you don’t need to even do the bottom hand if it makes it feel more comfortable once you’ve got your setup just push your arms away and feel that resistance against the band so it’s really sort of pushing back at me here i’m really having to push my arms away from my body and this is a swing fault that we’re going to correct i’m just going to leave this band on while I talk to you about this next bit so what I see with lots of students and day-to-day golfers is this breakdown in arm structure on their back swings you get bends in their lead arms this trail arm gets really close to their body on the way back it tucks in and also retracts really far back as well like this so the arms get really deep there’s no real width and having these sorts of movements in your arms is going to really limit how much you turn your body and that’s where you’re going to get your power from you want to use these big leg muscles your core those kind of things to get that speed up in your golf swing so having this band around your lead arm around your neck or around your back however you want to set it up and feeling like you’re pushing this club away and keeping that resistance throughout your back swing is going to give you so much width in your golf swing and that then is going to make you feel like your arms are going to stay in front of your body a lot more which is going to make you start to rotate loads better and as you start to rotate loads better and keep this width in your arms in your back swing you can now start to do what the best players in the world do in their down swings which is reduce this resistance in the band on the way down so we’re keeping that resistance as much as you can in the back swing you can now see that my trail arms hardly bent on my back swing whereas amateurs get this arm bending so much in their golf swings and you can see as you get to the top this bend your arms and hands start to disappear behind my head whereas if I stretch my arms out my hands stay well to the right of my head and I’m now already starting to lose my breath a little bit because I’m starting to really stretch and use all my muscles here at the top of my back swing i’ve got width this arm’s not really bent i can now reduce that resistance on my down swing and get my arms lowering as I start my down swing how this arm bends in amateur golf is such a common golf swing mistake so grab yourself a pack of resistance bands i think mine’s a pack of five like super cheap and this is one of the most strongest resistance bands in the pack set yourself up around your neck like we’ve discussed and set yourself up like you’re going to hit a golf shot you can do this at home you can do this at the driving range wherever you might be practicing and just two a few practice swings to start off keep that stretch in the band don’t let it come towards you and get these arms folding going deep really feel like you’re keeping those hands away from your body as much as possible keeping that resistance in the band and then you can allow that band and ease off that resistance on the down swing a little bit now once you’ve done a few feels you can hit some shots like it might feel a little funny on the follow through i’m not going to really follow through around my neck but it is also going to help that extension on the way through as well look how tight and pushed away my hands are on that follow through set yourself up and then just start off by chipping a few few forward here keeping that resistance doesn’t need to go very far and then gradually just build it up and up and up like we talked about earlier I’m just going to do the other grip that we talked about so it’s only wrapped around my leader hand now not my bottom hand again feel that stretch i definitely feel when I have the elastic band around both thumbs it makes me feel that stretch with both hands a lot more rather than just doing it with the one hand and stretching I like to feel it in my trail arm more cuz this is the culprit really you get this one breaking down your lead arm will just follow wherever it goes so I prefer the double grip of this elastic going around both but if it feels uncomfortable just do it with the lead arm or that trail hand as well totally up to you so I’m building up the shots i’m getting those reps in i’m hitting it a little bit harder now as well and I’m getting towards my full distance that’s going to go 174 carry i’m using all of my body there rather than my arms and I felt like I’ve hardly hit that it makes you so efficient with your timings your sequencing and it gets you that effortless power i want to do one more set yourself up it’s around both my thumbs keep that width and give it a good smack oh yeah this simple golf tip on how your arms should be moving in your golf swing will transform the way you strike the golf ball get yourself some bands they’re super cheap i’ve got a set of five like I said and give this simple golf drill a go and let me know down in the comments if it helps if you’re watching this video and already seen this kind of drill before
