i don’t think anybody noticed that Stuart to be honest no not yet no poor Andy oh it’s it’s not been videoed yet so no he’s often off sick in the morning isn’t he yeah yeah maybe still seasick from his holiday yeah anyway he’s maybe pregnant pregnant morning sickness oh yeah he could be uh well who do I go to first you must have done something this week uh I played golf this week this is I mean this is I don’t say this very often these days but yeah no I played golf this week i played um actually played Danakir um and it was it was lovely day got off really early and and it was lovely i hadn’t played golf for a couple of weeks really apart from the week thing um and so I decided like a conscious effort that I was going to play my B game i tell people you need to practice your B game i tell people this all the time and I’m bored of when me going out and playing these beat the course record things that we’ve been trying to do there’s no B game you’re just trying to wallop it and try and make birdies and and I’ve not been enjoying the way I’ve been playing so I deliberately played my B game um irons as many times as I could punchy drives just down the shafts and a lot of things and and it was so much more enjoyable i actually played nicely i actually hit the ball nicely give myself plenty of chances um and and it was back to sort of the way I like to play golf so I I really enjoyed it i’m not saying I shot millions under par but certainly had chances and you see when you play like safe and all not safe but it’s B game stuff amazing how many chances you have and you’re like ah that was all right so rather than trying to fire at flags and got to make birdie it’s just you give yourself chance after chance and the odds are in your favor and eventually hopefully make a few so did that um and then I had another playing lesson uh at Kingsfield and that was fine so just been I’ve actually played all right it’s actually true a lot of your rounds when you’re you play you start out just playing nice and kg and safe and then you make a birdie and then you relax a little bit and those are often the best rounds aren’t they cuz you you know you play yourself into your game you do though yeah and then you relax and suddenly you’re going with your a game at the end because you’re feeling comfortable yeah exactly it wasn’t until the 16th I think I I soalled open up your shoulders or had a normal full swing at the driver and it went fine um but I went back to the the pokey ones the we say pokey I mean it’s only pokey to you the human being it’s not you know if nobody knew you it wouldn’t look horrendous hopefully um but you as a human know that it’s not your full capabilities but people often think their bad shots or their so-called safe shots are ugly and they’re only ugly to you they’re actually quite impressive to other people sometimes when you watch people play their big games so I think I think it’s a skill that and again I’ve not practiced it because um but it was it was nice to get back into that mold and sort play golf again yeah it’s back to playing golf on the golf course hitting hitting golf shots not making golf swings yeah and just getting Yeah and then all of a sudden you start getting pin high and then it doesn’t have to be that close and and and and I think like not trying to blow my own trumpet well I’m not very good at that anyway but um I would say one thing I was decent at when I played was distance control um and if you just played the I don’t know rather than swings distance control was it you got a chance and doesn’t have to be close to the flag it just has to be pin high i had this conversation with people last night you know it’s like the old exercise he you know playing plenty of green without any flags in it mhm you would just try and hit it middle of the green and in the golf courses we play you’re never that far away if you’re middle of the green and you should only be going really at the level that most of us are at but middle of the green is good you should only going for pins with when you’ve got short irons in your hand well exactly i I was exactly the same conversation with one of my peoples as well and he he was he was struggling off a tea and I was like yeah when you’re on the fairway you end up going for a flag you shouldn’t be going for because you maybe not be in the fairway for three or four holes he’s like yeah I was like that’s what I used to do that’s terrible let’s stop that right now um but that’s the kind of mental attitude you can sometimes fall into isn’t it you just got to but look it’s it’s way more enjoyable playing golf like that so yeah I’m I’m going to go B game not for long but I’ll hopefully go B game next time we play and and and and just build up and wait and see if the A game’s ready but none of the stand up the first hoping hoping it’s going to be good you got to show some patience Peter yeah um well you know impatient Pete maybe not not my 40 but um plus if I hadn’t played for a couple of weeks so the expectation levels were low so that that also helped like you know if I’ been practicing or hitting balls you know I might not have started off with B game but and you’re playing a bounce game when are you going to play a competition but a bounce game would be a game you don’t care where the ball goes and I’ll just see how it goes but I wasn’t I was I I thought I was quite controlled to make sure I wasn’t going to do that okay when you playing a competition you boys don’t play competitions and Don are you going to play any things this year when I get a chance it’s been pretty busy this year so But I I’ll play a couple of seniors events that that suit my my days it’s not very much though you guys you know like I’m a club golfer club golfer and there’s competitions all the time you know I play competitions every week every twice a week quite easily and so will all the guys listening and you guys just you’re good at golf you guys and you never play competition anymore it’s hard fitting it in just now it is but to fit it in right of course you do you know but it you want to be competitive i don’t want to just go and turn up and finish you know last well either do these people in the medals no no but but they’re they’re playing golf for fun right we’re doing for a living as such you want to be competitive how much you earned in the last 10 years not much in the last 10 years but because we’re not playing very much either you know but yeah yeah and it’s the chicken and egg you can’t be competitive if you don’t play i 100% agree it’s not It’s not the case i could enter a tournament tomorrow probably go and play in it um but and I can hit balls but I’ve got to be playing on the golf course to get ready for that event and I’m not really wanting to and it’s not a bravado thing i just I just I want to enjoy it at a level I’m I’m I can I’m obviously not going to play the levels that I I may be used to but I want to play decent golf yeah i just I just see it as like pro pro golf golfers in Scotland there’s so many of them now and there used to be more opportunities to play and pros and all these loads of opportunities and there’s less opportunities for a lot of you guys and so you’re kind of I feel like you’re a lot of you are lost in the game club pros and that they’re lost yeah but we’ve been there i mean I’m I’m nearly 38 years old now uh but like but you’re you see you see things differently to the amateur golfers but like you’re not you’re you’re young you’re only 50 something you’re not that old yeah so but so so my my competitive edge isn’t isn’t quite what it what it used to be and you know you’re you’re so there’s a wee bit of senior’s golf but you’re you’re competing against guys that are hitting it 100 yards past me which makes it difficult and it never used to bother me that much it was never 100 yards then right but cuz you just think back I’ll still hit it less times than them but when you’re hitting more times than them and they’re hitting 100 yards past you I know i I I think the hardest thing for me would be um again I think I was I mean obviously because I missed so many cuts when I used to play I I was quite good at just putting the week behind me and just going and I still felt I could do well the next week regardless what I’ve done the week before but it’s again it’s chicken eggs when it when it comes down to now where if I was to play I don’t know if I was to play a tournament and and block myself it’s it’s one tournament this year or it’s two so then you put an awful lot of emphasis or pressure on those two weeks people that are playing a medal every um that you’re trying to sort of relate us to well we’ve got next week to to to do better or to make up for it or but that’s what I’m saying yeah you the less you play the harder it gets because and the more you play competitive the more you want to play competitively and the better you’ll play yeah i mean I I get it i get it but it just it’s time off work and it’s time away yeah i’ve lived that yeah i I would still love to compete but you got priorities I suppose these days mhm yeah no it’s uh it’s just always a Yeah it was one of the reasons I wanted to turn amateur again i totally understand that i understand that world 100% yeah but bounce games are fine but you know I still like to play with a card in my hand and want to do well you know you don’t get you don’t do that anymore Peter which I find funny for somebody who’s played golf at such a high level your concentration levels are definitely not the same when you’re playing a bounce game as they are they’re not competitively no nowhere near it nowhere near and it’s easy to get in that rut and just go I’ll just put the clubs away i’ll play next year again that’s what I’ve said for the last four years and it’s not happening i’ve been there as well i’ve been there cuz I was a pro but I don’t want to just go and say “Right okay next year I’m going to enter the the open championship qualifier because it’ll be the only thing I I enter and then it’ll be like that whole thing where it’s this big buildup and then it’s like yeah well I mean you start you start with a double in my best days I used to miss you know 40% cut so it’s just oh it could be one of my 40enters or the 60% kicks in i don’t know it just Yeah yeah okay uh Donald what have you been doing well I I played a couple of times last week as well uh one of my pals it was his 25th year at East Rford Golf Club and he he Stuart uh raised a lot of money through ProAm over the years and this year was a testimonial proam for him so that was Friday last week so myself and a couple of the boys went through on the Thursday mhm and we played at Press Week St nicholas uh over near which was a course I last played I think 36 years ago it was quite scary when I actually worked that out i probably played it last in the air winter alliance when I when I was still in uh and then I realized just quite how long ago it was and funnily enough I couldn’t remember the course that well but it was it was a it was a it’s a it’s a lovely golf course it was in Great Neck uh we get quite a pleasant day for it uh didn’t play brilliantly hit some some decent shots again but uh overall not good but it made me think well I can hit some shots then made a couple of beers at night and then it’s was on to Stuart’s day and anybody that knows Stuart Russell’s pro arms they’re they’re fairly sociable shall we say not so competitive they’re not not quite so well not not for for most so it was a real fun day the weather actually held up the normally the weather there’s pretty pretty awful but it held up good but it’s a it’s a very sociable day it was a very fun day I play with guys that I’ve played with for a long time now and and before I actually started playing with these guys I used to feel as though I could win that program and since I started playing with these guys they’re they’re very very sociable one year I buggy struggle to go up the hill for for various reasons But it was it was a great day raised raised some money for for dementia charity uh and and a few quid for Stuart as well which he’s deserved cuz he’s raised over I think he’s about £300,000 over the over the years for charity so it was it was a a real good day a real sociable day fun fun fun golf i know you keep saying I say that Stuart but that means I’m enjoying it mhm so so it was good but you can probably tell from my voice it was a a rough weekend no no it wasn’t rough it was it was the most fun I’ve had this year you’re rough you were Well that’s good what about yourself Stuart well I played a tie i won a tie with my daughter that’s another time your daughter we’re in the semi-finals now Donald do you know what I get you know talking about you know competitive I get really nervous in these ties not because of me if I was entering a tie I don’t think I could really be bothered i I’m not really into ties really but I’m playing with my daughter and and because she you know I want to win for her you know and I get nervous about playing hitting bad shots for her and see when we’ve got two putts for this happened all the way around right i just we just need two putts here for the to win the hole Becca and she’ll leave me a 30footer how hard is it to get a 30 footer dead by the way you know I was actually I was thinking about the chat last week about you know you don’t try to hold putts but see when you try and not hold a putt but just get it close to get it into gimme they’re the ones I’m terrible at i can’t do that i have to I do try and hold it I think because when you you know you’re Yeah when you’re going for the putt I don’t I don’t nick it and knock it 8 ft by i just go for the putt and it’s that’s the distance it’s like when you try and on the range pitch a ball at a certain distance that’s really hard to do but you could pitch and run it up to a flag easier yeah exactly it’s like this thing like Oh so yeah so there was so many times that match where I was leaving Becca 4 feet and she was missing them and was oh god I can’t believe but we’re we we won the all square down then down the last and we won the last so it was it was good it was good fun victory and then I shot level par in the medal you’re you’re you’re on the comebacks J yeah i wasn’t so much on the comeback for the first 12 i was three over after 12 thinking I’m going to shoot my staple 76 but then I had a birthday it’s funny how one birthday i I I don’t know whether you guys feel the same but you can be oh this is rubbish i’m rubbish i kind of shot one birdie and I suddenly I’m going right if I bird the next one the next one p that one bird i’m suddenly thinking I can birdie five of the next six in my head every time I do it and then normally you bogey the next and then you’re like back to being I’m rubbish i’m rubbish but you know another birdie and then a bird another so your mind’s not as feeble as you make it out to be is it well well it’s pretty feeble when you think well one birdie and I’m thinking I’m He-Man but one bogey I’m thinking people often say don’t get ahead of yourself in the golf course sometimes it’s not a bad thing you I get excited i I used to do that as well when I was playing rubbish or whatever i’ll be like “Yeah but okay right 16’s a gimme 15 I should be all right and then 18 but perfect five.” You know there’s a really good chance there so you be kind of like yeah okay we’re r we’re two over but really we’re one under so it’s all right tell yourself any stories to make yourself positive that is funny i you know when you make it when you I was three over after 12 that’s rubbish but two over when I burned the next two over two is all right two is all right two is right if I just gone par those two holes I’d be like two is rubbish but it’s only two over so yeah fickle fickle game but yeah it was nice to shoot a better score but I do notice that I do know that I playing you know burling around your own course all the time does become easier easier than you guys going and play different courses because you know I I know where to miss the ball and I know where the trouble is and I put from off the green at holes and I don’t panic if I’m two over after four at Londy because two after fours there’s two tougher holes in there especially at the wind so you know you know your course you know where the Yeah you don’t panic yeah you don’t No you don’t so although although in weeks gone by Stu you’ve been doing nothing but panicking well so you’ve had a decent score and the panic’s over and I did play with my B game like Peter said because I didn’t take my driver out i used this mini driver thing i thought well if I just find a way to hit it straight and I was hitting little fades so obviously I fade with a mini driver I’m losing distance a good 30 yards probably but it was in play let’s see what do you do when you start off with your B game and you’ve only got your C or D game though you got Yeah it’s a tricky day it’s a tricky day tricky day do you try and up that to your A no no no you never try and find your A if you don’t got your B there’s no point in looking for A right so you just just happy with C or D yeah sometimes C sometimes C can be all right anyway we start we started with a thousand listeners we’re down to about 300 so we should maybe move on hey 18 minutes of that trouble that’s That is terrible isn’t it good job andy’s no here right uh KM Open in Holland um Connor sign i mean did you guys see much i um No not live i I watched a lot back um and yeah I mean look um him and um Lagger who’s it what’s his name lagger lagger is seems like somebody that should have been playing that prom Donald yeah Lagger he’s he’s been around for a while um those two separated themselves didn’t they um and it was a basically a two two horse race going into Look if you took two those two out it’ be a really exciting sort of leaderboard in terms of because everyone else was sort of four or three and they were like 10 12 they they separated themselves the weather looked horrendous uh wind rain um and which is even harder to separate yourselves and and yeah what what a performance i mean he he was he was tremendous wasn’t he i I watched quite a bit of it i was dozing back and forward I must confess but I watched quite a bit of it and he was so solid dropped one shot in the last 28 holes or something like that he did what you should do yeah it was real real solid golf just fairways greens and it’s it’s that type of course there’s greens within greens um I used to sort of like those type of courses but you know um it’s like Nicholas type designs where there in bowls sections if you miss that section you got a hellish two-up but if you get it in that section it feeds down towards the flag he just seemed to find the bowls and and and that’s that’s a sign of class obviously but but it looked so composed it didn’t look nervous or jumpy he was smiling and you’re a bit you reminded me of you in the golf course you know he he just it looked very comfortable in the position he was in and you would never believe that was his first one the way the way he was he was going about his business when we’ve seen him in contention before though there’s there is something about Connor Sim that does look solid like there’s not a lot going on going wrong he always he always impresses me when we see him it’s funny but I don’t know him do do you He’s He’s quite local to us we know his dad i know his dad quite well yeah i don’t know Connor Connor well i knew him as a we boy but I don’t know him know him now but uh yeah but just just was class yeah he is yeah he’s more machineike isn’t he he’s like a him and Callum Hill kind of in the same bracket but look it’s great because the other guys other Scottish guys certainly have all won and it was like come on Connor um and you know Yan Ferguson’s won Callum Hills won you’ve got um you know Bob’s won he was he was the guy he was the one waiting to win um and this is the you know you’ve still got your Richie Ramseies and all that playing but these are the new crop and they’re they’re they’re doing really well and they’re not that new now no they’re not well they’re still in their late 20s maybe um so they’re at that age now where you’re just like “Yeah kick on this is it.” And and getting that win at that age I think is a great thing now now we can really press on and moved up to what about 18th in North America roughly you you would have hated it though because he he was like saying well done to the guys when they hit good shots he was giving them a we fist bump on the right when you’re beating them by 12 i would be doing that as well no no it was even to the the guys next time he was sm he was talking to them speaking I mean you made out like the two guys were ahead but he had a bit of a lead he was four ahead going down the last wasn’t he he had a huge lead i mean he kept but he kept that all day and he had some really impressive like prop you know win shots it’s funny that that that um yeah flights with driver low fade drivers they saw the tracers it looks you know very controlled very you know he’s got it but it’s funny that that weather is that Europe that’s European weather they don’t get that in the states do they I was thinking that when I was watching it as well you know the Brolies there there’s folk from the from the crowds the brolies are flying across the fairway you know like it’s it’s proper minging miserable and also like as as your first win like I’m not trying to take anything away from Connor but you know when it’s that when the when when the elements are that hard you focus in a lot more on what you have to you know I I feel like it would be it’s less nervous when it’s really you know when you try to get across the line for your first win which everyone feels is he’s is due win it’s it’s maybe like the the perfect storm if that makes sense in terms of you you know the elements are so hard um crosswind rain you’re fighting your caddy trying keeping dry blood getting hit the shot there’s no you know there’s less nerves is that would you agree i think when you’re playing well you can I don’t I don’t know i don’t know until you’re in that situation i think when it’s flat well certainly my brain my weak brain I’ve got a strong brain and a weak brain but my weak brain if it’s flat cam we would be like “Oh I could mess this up.” Whereas wind you’re just in there got to do this got to do that and you’re more into the shot you’re hitting but I don’t maybe I don’t know but I mean the wind was howling and you know if you suddenly lose one on the wind you can lose a long way so uh I can understand I can understand a we bit but also if you put that in the British Open you just like you know plenty of people mucked up at the British Open in the wind i know i know look it’s it’s maybe just me i just think when when when the elements are Anyway yeah but yeah I think you focus more in the shots like we’re talking last week than swing more in the wind and there’s less there’s less space for the other stuff to come in because you have to focus so hard but he didn’t he didn’t come in this week Connor with huge amounts of form he’s no he’s not been he’s not been great missed four of the last five cuts before that and his his scores have been you know 73 75 74 76 71 75 you know not not playing well and then he had a better week last week with three scores in the 60s which obviously gave me confidence and he said he felt ready for this so it was um it was great to see I’d love I keep we keep saying it but um he’s playing in US Open this week as well he’s ob he obviously qualified for that before yeah and it wasn’t through this week’s win but I think he must have qualified for four and uh and there was also Yan Ferguson Richie Ramsey in the top four as well so a good a good week for Scotland yeah after I saying last week they’ve been quiet for a while they had a great week this week yeah so and and Scottish weather yeah it was Ming it was Ming so a huge well done to Connor yeah brilliant great and great for five golf scottish golf yet five golf Scottish golf I took I took note because it’s you know one of the biggest amateur events in the country’s trophy was played at the weekend won by a Scott boy called Cameron Adam left-hander shot 17 under r the old course in the jubilee three in the old one in the jib um so yeah uh that was that was great big amateur event it’s golden yeah you win in that you’re thinking walker cup you know that’s you didn’t win not win the amateur or Scottish amateur as well last year pass did he I thought I read that somewhere won something big last year anyway so he’s obviously going to be in the frame for that he’s certainly going to be in the frame but I was looking back at the scores cuz back in the days when I used to play in this thing you know the scores were you know had back in the ‘ 90s it was Craig Watson Bartley Howard Graham Rankin Justin Rose won it one year but scoring was kind of minus 7 + 6 – 6 -4 -12 then recently it’s like you You know the modern day the boys are shooting 17 – 7 – 22 – 16 – 20 – 10 – 11 – 13 you know that it’s it’s it’s got that much better yeah but weather’s huge isn’t it that’s why I take over a few years but it has to be to do with the distance they’re hitting it yeah of course it’s a short golf course for them now isn’t it are are the amateurs are they are they better probably yeah i mean I just get a feeling that top amateurs nowadays are are just priming themselves just getting ready to turn pro they’re kind of already little pros if you know what I mean and they’re they’re living the life of little pros there’s there’s more fulltime yeah they’re doing all their stuff where um they’re doing all the gym work they’re doing all they’re just read they’re primed and ready um I kind of feel back in the day it was maybe not like that but but that’s that’s a great thing but I kind of there’s not the the not so good amateurs playing these events it’s just kind of they’re just the top it just seems like I don’t know well back in those days when when I played it it was mostly Scots playing in the San Andre links you had some some outsiders playing oh you know you did get a lot of outsiders playing the career the career amateurs don’t last anymore in that list there was hardly you there’s not very many Scots half a dozen yeah so yeah like it’s an international field now but still you know you say the amateurs are better than they were before yeah they probably are but you know if you go back to the mid 90s you would say the pros are better now as well everybody’s better um but anyway no well done to Cameron Adam another reason for Scotland to be happy yes absolutely canadian Open um start with Rory rory got a tweet here from Rick Gaiman mhm he Rick Gamer says “I have 1,118 rounds on Rory Maroy in my database.” I hope he’s like not just not he’s not just a casual supporter uh he says today 78 lost a minus 8.4 strokes to the field this is the second worst round of of his career um behind his a round in the second round in 2013 Northwestern Challenge it’s a bad round of golf he’s blaming his driver a we bit he’s trying a new You know what i’m really bored of that chat now yeah um I I this is the one thing I was going to say was you know like you um he it I don’t how this right so So yeah I mean like you teach people right you teach them figure out what that tool can do blah blah and and and all he is is is he just going to these drivers and putting his swing on it 100% and there’s my swing you find me a driver you make me a driver that fits that swing right is this what modern is this what it’s come to these days and I’m kind of having a go here but I know he’s not he’s probably Rory’s not that bad but do you know what get the driver and make it work don’t just keep swinging you know if don’t just keep swinging and blaming oh that’s not the driver for me cuz I’ve just hit five out of six down the right turn it over or or it’s getting a bit boring for me this like he can try every driver in the planet oh no you can’t every driver that that company makes in the planet um figure it out um you know if you change ball and you change a spinny ball you got to try and spin it less i mean it’s just like he’s got a driver go and you know we used to get I know it’s we yesterday we got a driver um and you figured out how to hit it got glued in that was it that was your That was your driver it go he’s He’s the best player in the plan don’t just keep swinging i know he’s probably not driver of the ball just about in the planet yeah well if you’re the best driver of the ball you should be able to mold to the next driver and it’s only a tiny bit different and I look I was a player i realize these guys are are are like their tools they know them with like like every single feel and gram in it but figure it out it’s really getting boring i’m I’m not giving them this this buffer of oh he’s just not found the driver yet scottish Heffler’s driver failed as well didn’t it i don’t know but it shouldn’t it shouldn’t be that hard for one of the most talented people to play the game ever to make the driver work if it means he’s got to take 3 mph off to hit the fairway i’m sure I’m sure he try to work out but he’s having a we bit a bad time and I don’t know how bad his driver really really has been but I’m pretty sure he probably gave up oh no 100% agree with that and you know that’s the downside to being Rory Maray right yeah everyone else is allowed to give up he’s not yeah it i’m pretty sure he will be able to find a way to hit it and and he’ll he’ll he’ll have to find a way this week at Oakmont won’t he uh the way the course is set up so so yeah the the driver’s just part of an excuse he’s just going through a we see though going through the lull you know do you think there’s a case to say that you if you have a goal yes if your goal isn’t big enough you know as he he’s reached his goal and then now he’s a bit flat you know he’s won the masters that’s what he wanted to do he wanted to win all the majors he even said it when he was a kid he didn’t say he wanted to win the major all the majors five times cuz then then you just have to keep going but like is there something in his head that’s going “Oh what now?” I think there seems to be I I had I had this sort of half written down before in my head anyway i was like “Is is he mentally fatigued?” Like I I love Justin Thomas’ comment years ago um he said like somebody asked him about his goals and he says I don’t want to set I don’t want to set a ceiling on anything so he doesn’t have goals really i’m sure he doesn’t back of his brain but he doesn’t like to ever tell anyone a goal because if I were to put a ceiling on something I always want to get to the next and keep going and getting better but he does he does seem like a guy that’s Rory does seem like a guy that’s maybe maybe going through a mental lull um a little bit which I 100% agree what you’re saying but I would like him to get out of that it’s funny how we over we overanalyze Rory Mroy don’t we it’s allowed you know and then he obviously get his hard time about not doing his his media stuff and he’s come out and explained that which you just said he basically went in the huff oh and by the way everything I’ve said about his driver he’s never once come out and going “Oh no the driver is not very good.” But um it’s me that’s saying it not him he’s he’s says he’s tried that driver twice it’s not worked that’s all he said he didn’t say they can’t build me a driver to fit my swing so I’m not slagging Rory here i’m just like come on talent figure it out i just It’s starting It’s starting to bug me okay and And it could And would it surprise you if you won this week no it wouldn’t surprise me at all well it would a little bit yeah it would a little bit i know but it would You wouldn’t be surprised we come out and his driver great this week and compete it feels like it feels like we’re again you know it’s like comparing I don’t know Ernie Els or Mickelson to Tiger in the day you know like Scottish Heer just feels like this machine that’s not going to stop and you know most most people most human beings are not like this but when he won the Masters we thought that’s it he’s he could win the Grand Slam i know six weeks ago oh he could win the Grand Slam and now oh he’s done stop reminding people how rubbish we are all all I’m saying is for everyone to say that and and I probably agree with him that he’s the almost agree with him that he’s the best driver on the planet of the golf ball then you should be able to give him some daff driver with stiff enough shaft in it and you should be able to figure it out that’s all I’m saying and if he can’t figure it out next I would actually be disappointed not like “Yeah wow well done getting your driver.” So I I’d be like “That’s pathetic.” If he can’t sort his driver out this week if he’s so called that if you’re a good chipper and somebody gives you a different sandwich you’re not going to go “Oh oh no can he chip with this?” We don’t We don’t like players blaming their equipment you know rubbish golfers blame their equipment top players shouldn’t be doing that remember uh Bryson Damo’s had a little bit of history of blaming his you know equipment shut up we’re not interested you get access to everything exactly yeah anyway yeah we’ll see how he gets on this week um but did you see much manosero was up there yeah by the way European Europeans are doing great we’re going to win the World Cup easy easy we are even like Maniserero are like bossing in America you know he’s not you know he’s he didn’t quite boss okay well he was look to be fair he actually missed a few fairways and you can’t do it around there and then you know that catches up you if you don’t hit it as long as the other ones but he he did brilliantly didn’t he and but it’s you you all kept saying you know the top 10 oh they’re all going to struggle none of them will keep their card or one of them keeps their card and stuff that they’ve just proved he’s all wrong well no not all of them have I mean I can’t remember the top 10 now but no not all of them but a lot of them but I feel like you just don’t know who’s going to do it though it’s like I was thinking about that cuz Fox I said Fox I didn’t think Fox would do it i I was It’s the same when you have challenge tour guys going up to the European tour how do you know which of those 20 guys are going to be the guy that does it sometimes it’s not the number one and sometimes it’s number 20 that just is able to cope better and I for some reason I just thought it was just a gut feeling but it I was wrong obviously wrong with you’re you’re 100% right and we talk about this all the time when you see good amateurs even like Jill make it as a pro left i mean and that’s a bigger jump obviously going from Europe to America is not as big a jump because you already know the pro game and there’s the crowds will be bigger the courses are different but I think it’s quite a big jump and it’s a big change as well well from Europe to America it’s just a change and you’re in amongst the best players in the world and you’re I think it’s a big change in scenery and it does not everybody’s going to just fit in perfectly yeah but you’re you’re you’re playing more of the same types of golf courses more often as well aren’t you yeah yeah and suddenly you find I can actually quite like these golf courses i’m quite good at this whereas Europe it was different every week the weather was different every week suddenly I’m comfort zone here i get I get looked after so well here i’m now spoiled that this is me i’m I’m comfortable here some of them not all of them but yeah but Bob famously wasn’t to start with yeah yeah exactly so but no Big Boy Fox i mean he he won a couple weeks ago in the sort of second event on the PJ tours that’s two weeks and two weeks and three is he’s won two and four I think yeah yeah i listened to his interview as well as saying um and he does you know I was saying but will he really count that as a full win in the two and he totally did and and he’s obvious he’s he’s obviously going to say that as well right so there’s parts of that in the interview but I did like what he says you know this doesn’t really doesn’t matter as much because I’ve already won and I love that look he’s mentally he’s very very good and he well I mean he’s so strong he’s always had a country mile and and um got a phenomenal short game to go along with it but yeah um brilliant really the only one he’s one of the best farmers I’ve ever seen play golf yeah yeah yeah he is the best farmer I’ve ever seen play golf let’s for sure he’s strong as an ox hits it a mile but yeah he’s he’s he’s got an awful lot of touch i mean some of the shots he hit coming down the stretch you always knew he was going to get it was one of those tournaments where your man finished on 18 um and you’re like “Oh god is this going to be just a flump of a tournament cuz nobody can catch him 62 course record stuff.” And then but you always felt Fox would get there i never felt anyone else would i’m not going to lie but um I felt lie i’m not going to lie but I felt I felt Foxwood um and he did um you had to hold a good part in the last to do it though cam Young was the one that I thought might but then then you start Cam Young’s never won you look at Cam Young and just like sense doesn’t it yeah he’s strong he’s just I just Yeah you could suppose you could sort of you couldn’t see it he played the last old lovely as well just Yeah he’s still not one yet it’s amazing he’s not won he’s almost won the open i was paying attention to Maniserero though mhm sorry no he’s he’s got demons oh yeah he’s definitely got demons you know for a guy that I remember being quite a quick golfer no he stands over that drive he looks at that ball for a long time sometimes down the stretch i was noticing that and then his putting Oh don’t like look at that but well he’s got two different strokes one mind some of his demons no I know but yeah well he’s obviously got over them but you know there’s demons there just to the back but you know he’s noticeably a little bit shorter than everybody else and his pattern was the two things I noticed mostly but yeah but you watched them in the last round yeah of course in the first three rounds they were saying he’s back course record wasn’t he just about in the third round yeah yeah but know it was the one thing I did love about the tournament though is the the shot tracer you know how like it comes out and it’s like whatever color blue I think it starts and then it either goes green or red so you know if it’s going in towards the trees or not do you see that cuz there some You like that i like it cuz the cuz the camera angles are moving you know cuz it’s like in a drone um rather than you seeing it like stationary behind the tea if you like so it’s kind of like oh where’s it going what’s pointing this unless I can actually see it and I love I I like it so like Rory’s you’ve seen it going red pretty quick it’s amazing it’s amazing the technology in that yeah i I love I love all this new stuff i I think it’s really really good at what point don’t you want to know at what point as a golfer do you want to go you see a ball and is it going to be in the bunker in the rough if if AI is telling us already right it’s going to be finishing there we’re talking over seconds six seconds yeah so I I I don’t think information like that is ever bad no so if a guy’s kicking a rugby ball and we we as soon as he kicks it is green oh great yeah no I get I get that but I I said this instant no I get it if it’s a conversion to win to win the game you’d be like whoa it’s just it’s green straight away as soon as it’s made contact it’ be a little bit less exciting maybe not far off going to get there yeah it’s not taking quite as long was it to kick the conversion i’m just saying as a as a sports watcher do you want to know before it happens or do you want to I just don’t It’s just a just not before it happens it’s after it happens it’s after Stewart halfway through the earth though you know yeah cuz got the landing spots and everything down it’s Anyway I like it i I thought it’s it’s quite a cool new tracer with the colors i like it sometimes I like watching this you know how the golfer becomes really small in the left corner you don’t see them as much anymore you’re more watching the drone i mean it’s That’s what I mean but that drone is colorful i seen the golfer as well though i was thinking I’m missing out in watching that golfer swing why are you laughing Donald just cuz of the [ __ ] you two talk would you like me to like all the technology that comes in very true uh live Virginia no wait a minute what about um the other thing about that i I’ve never seen it where playoff wise they’ve changed the whole location yeah it was different wasn’t it that was weird yeah and you just did it in time i know probably had 5 minutes 3 minutes to spare but yeah I’ve never seen that before um that turned out it was enough to because that could have gone on for ages and it was enough to make to make to make the difference and yeah what a shot he hit in they both hit in actually but what a shot folks hit in there too yeah it was a really poor part yeah the first part though wasn’t it not Fox um you know Sam Burns yeah he kind No you know Fox isn’t dead it’s not like he has to make it it was just a really poor putt for one of the best putters on the planet i don’t know i was really disappointed it was a disappointing end rather than like a Fox won it fox didn’t win it he lost it didn’t he burns lost it i don’t know they put the pressure on him i know it just disappointed me a little bit but you know I I like Burns i think it comes across really really well and all the rest but it needs to end though see when you have a present a playoff going on forever i I was worried actually when Rebecca had the four-footer to win our game you know really thinking it’s half eight on a Wednesday night i don’t want to be going up that first hole because we could have three holes and end out the fourth it’s horrific the other thing about that week before we move on was Justin Rose chipping catanded cross-handed left hand low whatever you want to call it these days um that’s the first time I’ve ever seen him do that from a guy that I never thought needed to do it what’s the thought process behind that um um almost blowing your left wrist it gets the It gets the wrist angles working for you a little bit more it It I’ve practiced it i don’t like it but I’ve practiced it max Fitzpatrick does it yeah you got to practice it a lot i know look first time you do it you’re doub but then you figure out the wrist angle you’ve got to got to bow the left wrist I think um but it and and a lot of people are I think a lot of people are doing it um Pete K famously said that this is this is that puts the club in much more optimal positions and all the rest whether he’s right or wrong is up to debate but um I think a lot of pros are practicing with it and it’s maybe a case of just practice practice practice and oh this is so good that I’ll have to try it in the tournament um rather than having chipping problems and then trying that as a solution so I think it’s more along that line but that was surprising for a guy that good i don’t want to see that in the Red Cup cuz he’s he’s going to be the guy that’s going to be he’ll need a pick probably Justin Rose but I don’t want to see a Kakan or Chipper no you’re going to have two of them then bob Bob done okay yeah probably wasn’t the best defense but uh but but he done okay couple of 65s in there i mean he could uh Well let’s go in the US Open um oh mont deep rough have you seen the We’ve already seen the videos people dropping the ball and the ball disappears and into the rough yeah we see that all the time when it comes here don’t they it looks It looks uh lush and hard and it’s long but they’re dropping them in the deepest bits of course to emphasize it a bit but yeah it’s they say it’s the toughest test don’t they in US Open Golf so So if it’s the toughest test who wins scottish effler yeah it’s 3 to one scotty I don’t even know what that really means but um that one yeah I do i do get what it means but um what’s next who’s next well the next is now Bryson at 7 to well 15-2 and then Rory at 13 to1 so Rory’s gone out a bit but I I actually think 3 to1 on Scotty is good value you know it’s like Yeah I would just about I think it it’s so tough this week it it it could throw up a a funny winner i can’t see past Harmon i can’t see past Jefflin but it could throw up a funny winner somehow yeah somebody just keeps the ball straight yeah or Yeah it’s amazing sometimes we get really long hard golf courses it’s then the we short guy that comes through it’s amazing how it happens but sometimes um Yeah no I can’t see past Bryson i I can’t see past Sheffller at all i think it’ll be How many times have we said this when Bryson was like “Oh he’s definitely going to win the Masters he’ll win it he’ll win it easy.” Oh Rory will win this one scott is going to win this one i think the only one we’ve ever got right when we’ve said these is DJ where he went and won the Masters we’re all like “Yeah he’s going to win that.” And they went and won it but majority of the time it throws up somebody else all the time but I was like it’s so important for Scotty Scotty or all them that the first round if he if he just gets himself in amongst it a little bit you know if the leader’s at four and he’s a one under who do you want to win it do you want Scotty to win it possibly i do possibly kind of yeah just to prove that that’s the way golf should be played fair reason class a little bit oh you just want that next You want the next great player don’t you until he until he you know he’s a great player but he’s only won three you can’t we can’t say he’s a great player yet you know he’s not one of the all-time greats once he gets to five or six you start saying “Yeah that’s where you want him to get to.” Yeah you do he feels he deserves to be there he’s slowly growing on me as well i mean like really slowly but he’s slow and not that I dis I didn’t not He was a tough guy to root for just cuz he’s boring but he’s actually all right do you know what I mean i actually He’s growing on me he’s slowly growing on me yeah i don’t think many folk will have the picture up on the wall but um he’s growing i just don’t I can’t see Rory in the mix this week with what’s happened but yeah and it would surprise me to see him win it yeah I would shane Larry hopefully he’s he’s a decent driver of the golf ball he’s he’s obviously playing really well he’s playing some of the best golfers his life i I see him being a more at the Brit the the British Open or the Open i can’t um but yeah yeah i see Shane competing but not winning same with Fleetwood fleetwood fleetwood’s going to have a top 10 and not win um interesting to see how Bob gets on you know I feel like Bob Bob loves a major he’s playing okay he’s 125 to1 could you you know I could see Bob Yeah I could see Bob there yeah yeah without a doubt be interesting i was you know I’ve written names wim Neman keeps winning on live we keep waiting for him to prove it elsewhere but yeah I mean he’s a guy in form um the guys that are way out right keep cut 85 to1 any chance i don’t think so would it surprise you would it Who would surprise you more Rory winning this week or Kepka keeper would it peter I I don’t have an answer because I don’t know how kept to explain because I don’t watch he’s not playing well okay well he would surprise me on live but Keepa just wouldn’t surprise me if he did well it’s that character not mentioned John Ram yet no no he’s 14 to1 he’s actually third favorite mhm um Fox there that won that one is 125 to1 ro Justin Rose 125 to1 adam Scott 175 to1 these good players that could just you could just see them uh few oldies you’ve mentioned there though there’ll be some young come through yeah well but Ros has been there in the last three the last four majors or something he’s a major man just about anyway um I can’t see Ryan Fox ridiculous as it may sound but can’t I don’t see him as a major man at the moment no good player but don’t see him as a major man but do you see anybody as a major man until they do well in a major no so they’ve got to do well in the major the first major yeah i don’t I I don’t I I said at the start of the year I thought Terrell Hatton could do a major he could maybe do pick one off i don’t I don’t I don’t watch live i don’t last year didn’t I before he went before he went to live he’s not done anything when he’s But this comes back to what we were saying about us hardly playing tournaments and if you did you look like these guys have got four events to play and I know they’re they’re still ticking on playing the other events but they’re you build them up and Major’s already built up now they’re super built up cuz now you got to prove to Luke Donald or prove to the world that Yeah i feel like they’re they’re their live performances don’t mean very much they mean nothing even to them I don’t think they mean very much cuz as soon as you put them in the bigger pond they’re almost under pressure because they’re it’s like yeah exactly just what you said it’s exactly what we were talking about earlier majors are already pressure [ __ ] or whatever you call it um I can think of that word conundrums cauldrums cauldrums and now they’re even more um so yeah you got to be a certain type of player to deal with that and I think your Rams and that can i’m not so sure it’s a great thing for Turo i I I think Ram could compete this week yeah and I don’t see Bryson competing this week for some reason he struggled in the US Open recently [Music] i don’t know you just don’t know do you no no i just I just get that feeling he’s just done so well and but I don’t think he’s going to do well this week i don’t see a Justin Thomas doing well unfortunately well not unfortunately i I don’t see him doing well this week i I think he’s been coming back really nicely but yeah what about Spith spith no he’s not going to hit enough fairways is he sp ain’t going to be playing four rounds I don’t think that’s it get your money on speed folks yep there you go uh anyway um it’ll be I’m looking for I like I like the US Open i like it when it’s set up like the way I’m imagining it being set up because I keep seeing these little videos with with deep rough and you know people hacking out from lush lies and that’s that’s what I want to see at the US Open i’ve always wanted to see that par a good score again yeah I like to see one over winning yeah that’s why I like watching the ladies US Open last week two weeks ago um it’s a different test isn’t it it can make you look silly and you’re waiting for this and it’s a different sort of Yeah i just hope it is like that because so often you go to these events all looks tough and they’ve got deep rough and then the first round somebody’s eight under you know and you’re it’s not that tough yeah cuz we kind of we kind of felt quail hollow all these things it’s just like in our tour event so I like I like the hopefully they’ve got a separate hard they were talking about Johnny Miller’s round at Oakmont before when he shot 63 and I just heard him talking about his first he buried four of the first six or five of the first six and the first was a driver three iron and then he was hitting five iron and then he was hitting a wood in and just hitting proper golf clubs in to par four and these guys were going wedges yeah yeah yeah yeah scottish Open i keep seeing a new name has been so Rory’s Rory’s playing Sheffller’s playing which is great yeah once you got once you’ve got those two you’ve got signature event though isn’t it no is it not i don’t think so it’s never been a signature i don’t know sorry i thought it was i don’t think so uh Aberg’s playing Shaw Straa i don’t know about Morawa i don’t know about Thomas shame i’d love to see Bryson and Ram playing in our Scottish Open it would be great but that’s not allowed anyway that’s uh that’s enough for this week guys um Andy will be back next week for you all so that’d be good yes uh and uh we will speak to you after the US Open bye [Music] [Music] cheers heat heat [Music] [Music] heat [Music] heat [Music] heat heat heat heat [Music] [Music] [Music]
