Carlie Irsay-Gordon sounds like a very well prepared leader, but the proof will come during adversity. We she be patient? We she react in anger? Will she make a plan and stick to it? She seems pragmatic and demanding – as a leader should be.
Tyrese Haliburton says he’s good to go tomorrow night.
IU Basketball will get a visit one week from today by Italian pro Luigi Suigo, a 7’3″ Porzingis type stretch five!

all kinds of news today first the Indianapolis Colts uh the ERS sisters they sat down with the media today and kind of laid things out and principally it was Carly Ers Gordon who was talking to the media reflecting upon her dad’s life reflecting upon the current state of the cult reflecting upon uh something that she and her sisters joked about prior to the memorial service a lot going on and talking about what she learned from her dad as far as what not to do as an NFL owner kind of funny showed her personality and at the same time showed that she may possibly be an exceptionally good leader as the owner of the Colts i kind of like it i got to tell you the truth i know i know on the sidelines wearing the headphones having the wristband all of that stuff kind of odd but you know what if that’s what it took for her to prepare and feel like she was prepared to be in the position she is now in as the principal owner of the Indianapolis Colts and the runner of that football team you know what have at it whatever you got to do I’m behind you Carly all right we’re going to talk about that we will talk about a quarterback who is on the field today at mini camp for the Colts in a tryyout role and that’s Desmond Ritter now Desmond Ritter is two seasons away from being or removed from being the starting quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons and he was pretty damn good he averaged 7.3 yards per attempt and that’s Jacobe Brassette has never done that so with Desmond Ritter I I think you know you talk about upgrading at the position as a depth piece he is really good might be a guy who who competes with Riley Leonard for the backup role behind uh and we’re all I I think at this point we’re assuming that Anthony Richardson who was out there again today you know not holding the towel not a football uh we’ve kind of moved beyond that because you know what if he winds up being able to go during camp that’s going to be a pleasant surprise that’s going to be nice but for right now we’re going to assume that he’s not a party to the uh competition for that quarterback position all right just to make things simple for us can we do that for once uh but we’re going to talk about Desmond Ritter a little bit and and the Indianapolis Colts in day one of mini camp we had a chance to talk to all kinds of guys talked to Juju Brent who is hilarious talked to Tyler Warren who is not hilarious but is a very focused guy focused on learning the game of football at the NFL level we’ll post that interview and I asked the first couple of questions we’ll post that later on tonight you can watch that at your leisure but there was a lot going on and uh tomorrow tomorrow or Thursday we’re going to hear from Daniel Jones and this will be a productive week both from a media perspective and from a u from a football perspective shane Stiken talked to the media today and was good he seemed to be in a pretty good mood i think at this point of the year it seems after doing this for a while mini camp everybody’s just kind of jazzed they’re all excited right around the first week of camp they get really excited and then as the season drags on and the reality becomes clear that the playoffs are not in the cards or their distant and fading hope uh things not not nearly as much fun uh one more thing about uh Carly Ers Gordon she’s taking control of the team right now she’s not tiptoeing into this she’s getting stuff done right now people have been asked to move on and by move on I mean move out one of them kind of a front-facing guy in media has was handed his walking papers and that’s uh that’s Jeffrey Gorman which is Jeffrey is a nice guy and uh that you know what though I I’m I’m getting a little bit tired of this and I talked to people in the media about this today look getting fired is not the end of anything it’s the beginning of something and I’m sure that Jeffrey Gordon looks at it that way i’m not I’m done feeling sorry for people who got fired i know way too many of them who benefited greatly including myself from getting fired so hey being shown the door at EMS Charlie Morgan who was running the show then said “This is the best thing that could have happened to you.” And and uh you know what kiss my ass i I don’t need your platitudes 15 seconds after you tell me to pack a box but he was absolutely right i’ll tell you the truth tyresese Hallebertton says his lower leg issue is not going to be an issue is not going to keep him from doing what he has to do to be 100% tomorrow night as the Pacers fight for their playoff lives and make no mistake about it tied at one they’re fighting for their playoff lives they lose tomorrow night i think this thing goes five and it’s over you win tomorrow night all kind of good things can happen for the Indiana Pacers tomorrow night is a huge game indiana is going to get a visit people are posting this kills me people are posting “Hey who you think that uh uh Luigi Swiggo is going to pick you think he’s going to pick Illinois or you think he’s going to pick Purdue?” I said “You know what kiss my ass he’s going to pick Indiana how about that a week from today he’s going to be visiting Indiana University the day after he visits Purdue.” So he’s going to go to Purdue look at that campus their facilities and then go down to beautiful Simon Scott Assembly Hall Cook Hall the entire athletic complex at Indiana University and he’s going to say “My god I was considering that place in West Lafayette.” This is Inside Indiana Sports Now with Kent Sterling for uh Tuesday June 10th 2025 brought to you by the great people at Today’s Dentistry Dr mike O’Neal the best dentist in the world you got to see a dentist everybody responsible adults go to see the dentist responsible parents get their kids to the dentist dr mike’s the best give him a call 317849-2933 ask for Julie tell her that Kent told you to call she’s going to squeeze you in she’s going to get you an appointment how about that you got to know somebody to get in over there you do all right uh make sure and hit the thumbs up button that’s the like button make sure and subscribe because you can’t win a prize if you don’t you are eligible for winning a prize once you subscribe and not a moment before you press the button and if you want to make a donation make a donation no big whoop but include a comment or a question that elevates the level of discourse on the channel all right let’s talk about Carly Ursay Gordon because I’m fascinated by this i’m fascinated by her because she’s a generational owner you know what I mean like she she and her two sisters have have ascended to this level of ownership with Carly being the principal owner because her dad passed away it’s a generational shift in leadership but it seems that she has done whatever she’s had to do to prepare herself to be in that position and execute her responsibilities in that position at a really high level so here’s what she had to say in Barco Media i’ll get to your comment in a second and thank you for the donation uh she said she was asked what she learned from her dad to stay away from as an owner she said “Well tweeting that’s funny that’s a good line.” She said she and her sisters thought about being 30 minutes late to their dad’s memorial service because as you know if you know anything about Jim Ers always late that’s funny um she and her sisters are committing committed to keeping the franchise in the family as her dad was passionately advocating that’s a good thing she said Shane Stiken and Chris Ballard know they have things to fix the Colts have a standard and this is not good enough and she didn’t say it with a smile on her face she I I think to this point and and what’s it been it’s not yet been a month since Jim passed away i think Carly Usay Gordon is exerting her influence as an owner on this franchise on the hop she is doing it quick and that’s exactly the right thing to do you do not want to tiptoe into leadership tiptoeing into leadership does you no good that is not a recipe for success tiptoeing into leadership you walk in and she’d been around that building for what like over 20 years she knows what needs to go on in that building for it to be successful and she is executing toward that end right now and I like that a lot about Carl Ursay Gordon um she appears to be smart pragmatic non-emotional and quietly demanding polite but demanding uh several on the staff already gone the best known Jeffrey Gorman uh this is going to be her team and she’s not going to tiptoe into it people around the NFL are saying good things you talk to people around the NFL on the QT or people who talk to others in the NFL and and they say the same thing carly Ers is going to get things done we’ll see how successful she is at doing it but right now there’s every reason to be optimistic bars media says Indian has a bad track record of dealing with quarterbacks and injury do you feel like India Indie is doing all these quarterback moves as insurance or the first moves and moving on from Anthony uh I think that they’re covering their bases and I think that’s a good thing i mean would you rather have Desmond Ritter assuming that he signs would you rather have him or Riley Leonard as your starting quarterback if worse comes to worse Anthony Ko early in the season and Daniel Jones gets hurt would you rather have the season in the hands for a period of time with Dez Ritter who was five and six as a starter in 2023 for the Falcons or Riley Leonard who had a tough time against Ohio State in the national championship game i I think you got to look at the guys and and I I don’t think that you can judge Riley Leonard right now in the negative or the positive but what you can do is prepare yourself for a worst case scenario and I think that’s good management so I I don’t think I think they’re just covering their bases i think they’re giving themselves options should worse come to worse when you got a quarterback who goes back to see the surgeon who repaired his shoulder that isn’t a good sign ever that isn’t a good sign um but good question give me Riley randy Smith says “I don’t know i We don’t know whether Riley Leonard can play we know he can compete we know he’s a tenacious ferocious competitor we saw it in that first drive against Ohio State in the national championship game that kid was was beyond tough there’s no way you can play 60 minutes like that and he couldn’t but for that one drive he was the toughest one of the toughest quarterbacks I’ve ever seen on any football field uh Tyrese Hallebertton says that his lower leg issue will not keep him from doing what’s needed tomorrow night he says “I’ll be fine or I feel fine and I’ll be ready to go for game three.” Dr evan Jeff Evan Jeff uh he’s a doctor on Twitter for what this is worth he saw the tape position which is right on the back of that leg and straight up from the Achilles and he says that what that looks like based upon the positioning of the tape is a lower calf/ Achilles issue because of the position of the tape pacers remain five and a half point dogs they got to hit I told you this morning they got to hit 46% from the field 36% from beyond the ark when they do th when they do either of those things and in all of the games that they’ve done one they have done the other so 46 and 36 they’ve done that every single time they’ve won a postseason game they’ve done it 13 times in games that they have had those two things happen they are 13-0 when they have fallen below both they are 0 and5 that’s pretty cut and dry that is a bright black line celebrating good from evil they got to make shots which means you have to make you have to make that ball move quicker than the defensive players when you get an open shot you need to knock it down you need to do some good work on the offensive rebounding in in that area and you need to generate some live ball turnovers so you get some shots at the bucket without a whole lot of being contested and if you can get fouled that’s a good thing too because the paces aren’t bad from the line that’s how you win the shooting percentages and we went over that this morning the shooting percentages are important they’re really important but what leads to those positive shooting percentages that is really the key to the thing it’s not the shots the shots are the result the made shots are the quality of play prior to the shot that is the key to winning the game tomorrow night and then winning another two whether they’re both at home whether they’re both at OKC I don’t really care ritter doesn’t suck ritter was good in Atlanta in 2023 he wasn’t great last year with the Raiders and he wasn’t altogether that great as a rookie with the Falcons but in 2023 he was pretty damn good so um there you go iu is going to be visited by skilled 67 or six 7 foot three inch i’m not used to seeing sevenfooters in Indiana jerseys 7 foot 3-in Italian pro Luigi Swiggo and what scouts say is he’s kind of like Porzingis he’s that type of big which means he’s tall he’s skinny and he can shoot from deep there you go purdue gets a visit immediately before and like we said that ain’t going to do him any good if if when they’re competing against Indiana number one they’re going to lose the battle of the NIL and I know that schools can pay and will pay 20.5 million dollars i get it but Indiana their NIL is still going to be robust beyond that 20.5 million so I know you’ve got to justify it it’s got to be okayed by some kind of panel of accounting elders i don’t understand the whole damn thing dinner with Kent Sterling good heavens who wants dinner with me i don’t even want to eat dinner with me i chew like a cow it’s not pretty no I don’t i’m very polite i’m too polite i I’m like Ricardo Monttoban bringing the food to my mouth never never never John he said this on the Tonight Show i still remember john never bring your face to the food always bring the food to your mouth all right i figured hey if it’s good enough for Ricardo Monttoban I what am I going to argue he seems to be a very well-put together well-mannered guy uh fever tonight and and honestly like we always hear about these Italian guys or these European guys you know these guys from Lithuania the Ivand Ivan Rankos of their countries you know oh my god he’s the best he’s the best you’ve ever seen all right how good is he i don’t know maybe this guy’s really good maybe he is i don’t know maybe he’s going to lead Indiana or somebody to a national championship again I don’t know but there he is and he’s coming to Indiana a week from today and it would be nice to get a commitment a week from today from Luigi because it would really piss off the Purdue Boiler Maker fans who uh have a tendency to drive us crazy with their defensiveness about their program they have outplayed Indiana for a long long time and yet still you know they still they they kind of shy away from Indiana fans as Indiana fans try to explain it to them how banners count how five banners I don’t care if they date back to 1987 no banners dates back to forever i know you won the 1932 National Championship for God’s sake i know that but there was no NCAA tournament it was mythical the NC an NC NCAA championship at that point uh Fever tonight in Atlanta without Caitlyn hopefully this is the last game she misses because it’s not so much fun to watch when she’s not playing when she’s playing she gets knocked around she gets snippy people get snippy it’s fun to watch it’s dramatic when she’s not playing not nearly as dramatic i What’s What’s more interesting to watch caitlyn gets snippy or Aaliyah get productive or Kelsey get productive and tell you the truth I really love watching Kelsey Mitchell play i think she’s a badass she’s awesome we will talk to you tomorrow morning breakfast with Kent bright and early at 6:40 listen to Shane Stiken and a little bit later tonight listen to Tyler Warren all right we’ll talk to you then

  1. Definitely some red flags. If she gets the GM/Coach hire right next year, we’ll be fine. I’m not sure she will though

  2. Why was it odd that she was learning NFL ball at the ground level on the field preparing for taking over the ownership role? Seems smart to me. Im willing to give anybody a chance to prove themselves . Might be a great thing for the beloved horseshoes, we will see. I hope they aren't planning on muzzling coach Venturi or letting him go , Im going to turn against real quick though. I live over here by Champaign , Illinois campus and this is the first I've heard about this Italian recruit. Illinois has facilities to rival anybody I believe.

  3. Carlie said "She can't wait for training camp." I got a kick out of that! She's gonna be tough, she reminds me of her grandfather.

  4. Colts must trade Richardson for DESMOND RITTERS!!!! We need a winning qb and Alex pierce will love to see his old best bud haha 😊

  5. Unrelated to sports, I always love your backyard videos. As a fellow Hoosier, I killed more than one Japanese Maple, and your garden is gorgeous. Love your insights and personality, Kent. Thanks for doing what you do!

  6. I like the sisters taking the Colts leadership go Colts! In the present state of the two programs hard to believe a player would pick IU's B-ball program over Purdue unless they didn't think they will see the floor for the Boilers. Go Pacers

  7. I wish CIG would fire Ballard for unknowingly wasting the final years of her dad's life not dradting well and not putting a team together which could bring the Lombardi back. Wishing the next generation of Irsays the best indeed.
