perfect timing for Quinn Ewers
to step up there Steve Sarkisian
his coach is in the booth. Good to see you coach. Thanks for
having me. This is cool I like
your guys view. It’s much would get to. Well, I think the
thing nowadays in the NFL, the
more I’m, you know, I get my chance to study these guys in
the off season. And we started
our NFL studies and what people are doing the NFL like it’s
always been for a long time.
It’s such a copycat league. Right. And systematically you
know the verbiage is different
right from one from one, you know, you know, team to the
next. But I think it’s more
about the play caller than it is ready for your pro day so that
you find a little bit more of
that rhythm. I think you find out a lot of guys make up at the
combine, because you’re throwing
the guys you’ve never thrown to incompletions and all that
stuff, right? But how Quinn
handled, I think was good for arch. But then at the end, I
think, you know, for arch, the
beauty of for us, he got two starts for us this year and he
started our SEC opener against
Mississippi State. And so I think that exposure was good for
him. But now but now we’re
watching him in winter workouts and offseason stuff, really
becoming the leader of the team
like the quarterback has to be. wants to wants to reduce the
unknowns about players. And so I
think that that’s what that’s what playing in those two
conferences is great for you.
That’s great Kurt, you’re down as passers. All right, here’s
your guy. You want to break it
down for us. Here we go. We’re under center as Kurt saying. And
to be able to throw this ball
right this deep out cut right with a smooth drop. Subtle
hitch. Good base, good balance
at the top of the at the top of it. And lay that ball on the
boundary and trust that receiver
is going to be there on the guys and a credit to Coach
Milwee, our quarterback coach,
for managing that situation. But in the end, you know, I think
for Quinn, all of the stuff he
went through at Texas, right, for three years, I think kind of
puts him in position to be ready
for what it’s like to be an NFL underneath it. So this one is
more kind of up and over. So you
want to see a little bit more touch on it I always like to see
can you show me. You can get it
up and down up and over that underneath defender but still
drop it down on your guy. So
always trying to see how high can I throw this. How much touch
can these guys put on the
football. But there you see Quinn Ewers a perfect example.
Just the ball comes out
effortless. Good pace on it. Those are two beauties, Kurt.
They are nice shots. A little
bit more air. You know, always talking about air because once
that ball turns over now it’s
easy for your receiver to track. So I like that term you threw
out there Daniel. Early with
air. We like to complete these. We say in a coaching world right
42 to 45 yards down the field.
Not 50, not 60. Just get it up and let your guy go get it.
Because the further you have to
throw it, the more inaccurate there. Let’s go. Yeah. Just look
at the different trajectory
between those two throws. It’s interesting to compare it. You
were having a nice day. Having a
really good day. Yep. So this is worked out. I mean he did all
the testing. He jumped. He ran
really, really well. When I go through my notes on him, you
know, a lot of zone read
quarterback power. Use that athleticism. I thought with him
the arm was just okay. It’s been
better here than I expected. And then there were times I just
thought maybe he held the ball a
little bit too long on tape. But you know, that’s something
you’re not going to get a feel
for out here today. But he’s had Give that to me. It was an
excellent answer. It 100% was so
informative and made me smarter. But I don’t think Kurt was
around green Bay long enough to
hear wide receivers say anything Central Florida, Oklahoma,
Oregon, Hennigan his entire time
at Memphis. And we all know Will Howard went from Kansas State to
the winner’s podium at Ohio
State. So in this day and age, transferring is more common.
Like just take a look at this
group of quarterbacks you’re seeing here. The lion’s share of
them transferred and had and had
to find another spot. And that’s the that’s just it from now on.
And rich years ago a transfer early. Jaxson Dart has got
plenty of arm. Here’s Quinn
Ewers. There you go. Nice. That’s it. That was well done
it. Nice touch. Let’s see.
Dillon Gabriel I tell you what, see a little flat. You got to be
perfect on those throws. Go.
Thank you. Up and nope a couple more here. Dillon Gabriel. Fake
turns around up in the air. then get your feet down both
those balls. You want those to
be up a little bit higher towards. What is it two and two
Kurt what are your landmarks
here. That’s exactly it. By two by two box on that back pylon.
You know this is one that as
much as the quarterbacks you’re always out here trying to
compete and show people what you
can do. This is really about the

  1. What more does this guy got to do. He played well day 1 and each season, not just against below average teams like sanders and ward. I’m not a Texas fan, but he’s proven.

  2. We all know that most quarterbacks are gambles. Physical attributes are only part of the story and the College game does not prepare one for the NFL game. Ewers is a very nice option for a team with an established QB in need of a Day 1 backup…(Cowboys seem like the fit to me)

  3. Quinn is a solid qb and can throw the ball. His problem is that he isn't mobile enough. When good defensive teams put pressure on him, everything falls apart

  4. skill, form, and motion wise he should go in the top 5 in the draft, too bad if you put the slightest bit of pressure on him he crumbles.

  5. Gonna need to speed up his release at the next level, besides that he looks like Matt Stafford 2.0 lol it would be funny if the Rams draft him.

  6. nahh this guys got it, his passes are really good and his throw and touch is good as well, and he can put some speed and power on it. he's also more proven against real teams…. man… he's gonna be a steal watch

  7. I really Think Quinn Ewers is Underrated, he consistently was under pressure to be perfect because Many wanted Arch Manning to play so he pressed alot

  8. Seahawks could use him for sure. Late first round early second. His resume speaks for itself. Not sure why people dislike him.

  9. He throws the deep ball very well- his issues are- can he stay healthy, read defenses and go through his progressions quick enough to find the open target

  10. I like Quinn and wouldn't mind him in the 3rd for the Raiders, but I guess some team takes him late 2nd.

  11. Man there is alot of negative things people are saying about him I honestly think he is one of the best QBs in this years draft, I hope the cowboys draft him, I could see them taking him in the 5th or taking a couple 5ths and trade down to the 4th but I want him on the cowboys!

  12. Theres going to come a day a kod will be able to throw 80 yard steph curry dimes with no effort. Thats when football dies

  13. I think he'll go in the middle of the second round. Maybe Dallas at 44, unless they trade up for Jaxson Dart at the end of the first.

  14. As a longhorns fan I will say this, he is jackal and hide! When he is good, he is GOOD, when he is bad?! He is BAD! There is no in between!

  15. he never got the pop back after his injury in the 2022 alabama game. On all of those deep shots in this combine workout, the receiver had to wait on quinn's ball

  16. He will be the second best qb in this class. I can’t believe scouts thought this was 7th round and all the other qbs missed so many throws.
