Six area champions crowned June 7 at WIAA state track and field meet

The Post-Crescent coverage area had six champions at the WIAA state track and field championships June 7 in La Crosse.

Seymour leads the Division 2 golf championship by five strokes after the first round.Marquette University leads Division 1, while De Pere and Bay Port are tied for fifth and in 12th place, respectively.Durand-Arkansaw leads Division 3 by four strokes.

The Seymour boys golf team is in first place in Division 2 after the first day of the WIAA state golf championships at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison.

The Thunder has a total of 321, which is five shots better than Lakeland (326). The second and final round is June 10.

Vince Sigl of Seymour is tied for third place in the individual chase after shooting a 3-over-par 75 in the first round.

Marquette University leads the team standings in Division 1 after shooting a first-round team score of 4-under 284. Hudson is in second at 300.

De Pere is tied for fifth after shooting 311, while Bay Port is in 12th place after shooting 322.

Drake Card of Hudson is the individual leader in Division 1 after shooting 4-under 68, two shots better than Hayes Packee of Marquette.

Thomas Bobinski leads area players in D1. He is tied for 14th place after shooting 74.

Durand-Arkansaw leads the team standings in Division 3 after shooting 320. St. Mary’s Springs is in second four shots behind.

Troy Prudenz of Durand-Arkansaw is the individual leader after shooting even-par 72. Carter Koch of Oconto is the top area player and is tied for seventh after shooting 80.
