► Club Selection Strategy Tips – Video Golf Lesson Summary

Whenever you are plotting your approach shots you would do well to take a moment to analyze how the green looks like and where the flag is located in relation to the green-side trouble, if any.

For example, if you are looking at a pin that is located in the front of the green where there is a bunker to the left on the front and a depression to the right it might prove smart not to target the flag on that hole.

There is simply too much trouble waiting for you, where bogey or double bogey awaits. This is particularly true if the green is narrower in the front than it is in the back. If you find yourself in this situation, try to aim for the middle of the green instead, using a longer iron than you would if you were to target the pin in the front of the green. The wider area at the back will prove more receptive to less than perfect shots and the ball should not land in too much trouble, giving you a good opportunity at par still.
