Andy Carter and Kerrod Gray tak through Ben hogan’s Magic Elbow, watch out for the short cameo form Pete Cowen.
Full video is also on YouTube
is talking about a certain player’s elbow right who are we talking about are you talking about Ben Hogan buying each other that would be mate that would be I thought so cuz yeah his move is Iconic isn’t it yeah a lot of golfers don’t fully understand how it’s kind of working so most amateur golfers are a right shoulder we’re going to be talking a little bit more about right elbow in that first transitional move Hogan says that the right arm should be able to two right hand so the left arm is just f for me I would want to see a lot of my players start bringing this elbow the feeling is that it comes to the you got this seam of a t-shirt yeah I always feel like it’s coming to the right the inside of it so as you’re coming down there that would that would effectively work inwards as the as the club starts to come back down but there’s that elbow starts to kind of move move in towards what I I can say get it to the right of your belly buttons but what we also find from here is the arms start release working downwards what starts to happen is this left hip starts to open up

do you think it's a natural move or should be?
Some instruction say start downswing with hips the rest follows. I always get confused with Hogans view of leading with right elbow? Am i misunderstanding it ?
The right elbow shown here and in his book is iconic. It can still be replicated. I have been studying and practicing Hogan for a year and a half. Just to make a quick mention of Hogan‘s left-hand the grip. If the golfers grip is properly, held by the left hand, and explain in his book it will give the golfer the proper fluid motion between the hand, and allowing the club face to do its job . Sweet!!
I suck, but when I do this I hozzle shank every shot…
i think there are a whole series of other feels that golfers should be learning, and if they learn those feels they will naturally understand where this elbow , not NEEDS to be, but rather ENDS UP, but the way instruction is, people never gain the feel they need in order to fix themselves, so they get their head filled with shit they try to do, be here be there, and it just fucks them up cause they cant get comfortable and do what feels natural
The average weekend hacker trying to swing like hogan won't be able to hit the ball. People don't mention that hogan used to hit so many balls perfecting his swing. I've heard his hands would cut and bleed The guy would probable hit 6-700 balls or more at the range. Probably every day ….I've heard hit would hit thousands of balls every day. There was only one Ben hogan until you are ready to put that type of commitment into your swing you're not gonna master his move or swing.
Yes, it will shank every time if you don't do what Cowen teaches that is not in this video. It's the Cowen spin, where you have to spin your forearm down and open your palm through the ball
Hogan built an anti-hook swing. If amateurs try this move they'll slice it off the planet unless they get a super strong club face. A better model is Rory (or Louis) where the trail elbow is allowed to get a little behind the hip, achieving the elusive inside-out swing path. There's a reason, after all, that Tiger taught his own son Rory's pattern.
Its amazing everybody talks what hogan did, but nobody can hit like him.
Way too much analysis. You can feel the proper motions of a golf swing. “The secret is in the dirt”. Practice, feel, repeat.
Hi Andy. Love your vids and also the Pete Cowen vids. As someone who also a Carter can you look into the book by Gerry Hogan. The Hogan manual of human performance. Helped me alot as a teenager. Cheers bro from Australia
The trick is to "try" to stick your right elbow in your right side pant pocket.
You and Pete don't swing the club like Hogan if you think you do you are tripping
It’s a concoction of everything, the left hand is what controls the club face so it doesn’t matter how good your right is, if your left is poor, you’re right will be doing something in the down swing to fix it or save it.
He unknown to most. Use to grip the club very tightly. He didn't believe in a soft grip.
