Been playing casually for around 20 years and never improved. But I started taking it seriously in the last few years since my son has improved and is now competitive. He's 10 and plays from the forward tees and usually shoots mid 80s. He'd do a lot better but he can't reach to get on regulation for his age/distance. So I took some lessons, got fitted by my friend. And eavesdrop from his coaches and Found consistency in my swing. Played from the white tees at Mauna Lani South course today. Shot my personal best. 79.

do you keep your scorecards for future reference on your improvement?? I like the way you took notes on your drives and GIR

Congrats. Breaking 80 is a huge milestone. I remember my first which was last year. Took awhile to do it again. My philosophy is now, try to hit good golf shots and just enjoy the game. Scores will come. The more I do this the better I score.

  3. Well done. I track as well. FIR. GIR. Putts. Where I’m missing. What I’m missing etc. it helps for practice time. Shot a 74 today (par 70). After honing in on my 6/7 irons, green side chips, as that’s what the stats told me to do!!

I’d be so scared putting for one under milestone. When I broke 90 it was an 88 and I swear if I was putting for 89 instead I’d have messed it up so bad

  5. Tough game to get it all going. I agree. That’s what we love about it.

Sounds like that should be year 1 of the Mauna Lanai south traditional vacation. Same trip, same week, same hotel, even same tee time…you might break a new record every year and eventually get an offer from the LIV tour!

Big deal. I break 80 almost every time I play. But I usually only play 9 holes.

    Congrats!

  8. Congratulations! My son is 6 and is also putting fire under my ass to be better on the pitch and putt course. Nobody ever stopped playing and commented on my “beautiful natural swing”.

Love that course. Congrats on the achievement there!
