[Music] all right so how’s it going everyone out here at Grand Bear Golf Club today uh actually wanted to go play Wind Dance based off of a recommendation however they were closed for the week probably due to verification that said Grand Bear just did verification a few weeks ago should be healed uh there are some kind of bare spots on the on the practice green hopefully that’s not out on the golf course nothing too bad though it’s more of a visual thing so I just came over to the chipping green it wasn’t going well on the range i’m going to play one te up uh hurting but uh you know hey let’s go out and have some fun and check out the golf course all right as we start out in this first hole it’s actually a good starting hole kind of daunting even uh from one T up it’s 240 yards to carry that bunker and the reason I’m doing this uh now I was actually asked to add a little more commentary and some humor um I don’t know if I could be funny on purpose but I’ll give it a shot started off good with a drive right down the middle just just barely carried the bunker um so but I mean the course I mean absolutely looks gorgeous it’s peaceful and quiet out here it It’s definitely one of my favorites top five of all golf courses I’ve ever played jack Nicholas design but I mean it this this just looks so pure and uh should see a good amount of wildlife today all right open a T- shop found a fairway 99 yards left of the hole looks like it’s on the [Music] front see if we can knock this close and start off with a birdie [Music] oh little action on that one all right so walking up green actually looks great few little spots here around the edge looks like it’s not 100% recovered from verification but got 95% of this green looks amazing a few little more spots here all right so there’s a few little spots around the edges uh I was warned about that but all in all looks good so let’s see i got a 15 ft putt downhill should break a little left to right you know that’s one of the things as much as I love this golf course I haven’t quite figured out these greens yet kind of feel like I’m standing on a slope that’s going to make the ball move right to left but looking at it it should fall right all right that’s a good start birdie it’s all downhill from here I guess all right so I’m not going to do this every hole and bore y’all to death uh with my game but uh this is one of my all-time favorite par fives good riskreward slight dog lake right missed the fairway right everything falls off uh there’s plenty of room left uh with the trees but there’s a good risk of water on the second shot or you know you might have to lay up for a third so ideal shot here is a cut but since I don’t know what I’m doing with the golf ball right now just try and hit it straight at that tall tree oh janked it left that’s no good three shot hole all right okay so not the ideal miss on this hole let’s see what we can do jeez smart plays just knock it out to the right and have a longer third shot in Okay so yeah the edges of the greens are still healing in some areas um all in all the centers of the greens actually look really good putts a little longer than I thought it was going to be bunkers look pristine yeah I’m not seeing a lot as far as uh remnants from maintenance and arification just a little bit around the collar so far oh well let’s see if we can start off birdie birdie oh I didn’t hit that heat hey Heat all right i don’t know how well you were able to see on the drive up uh the big swell that’s right in front of this green really makes club selection crucial you want to make sure you have enough to get over that but you also don’t want to go long it’s really a good hole but if if you end up ding that swell you’re a good 30 40 ft below the green so I got 171 kind of in between clubs i’m I’m trying to hit a harder seven little right center to green oh cut a little thin it wouldn’t have carried if it went straight at the pin all right so it barely carried enough here uh if I was going straight at the pin it wouldn’t have so turned out happy accidents left myself a good chance for a birdie this green looks good yeah few little spots here and there but uh nothing to be alarmed about looks good and even with some of the bare spots I haven’t had any balls really bumping all right this should be downhill right to left and quick got two feet out [Music] right just about the speed [Music] [Music] oh wow and I didn’t hit that at [Music] all give it a little too much respect still a par but one of the other things I really love about this you come out at the right time of year sometimes there’s people tubing sitting over here but you got the Bxie River a quick pan over [Music] there it’s on uh three or four holes on the golf course [Music] all right so Grand Bear here has two really good finishing holes with N and 18 this first one here on hold nine is actually a short hole unlike the other one that you’ll see later it’s a good riskreward uh you can try and hit driver get it down there as far as you want since I’m hitting driver bad I’m going to try a 3-wood it only plays 360 so I’m hoping I can get this down there and have like 110 left small green but it is a good way to finish the front nine oo that was close uh I just lengthen the hole up dead right hit a tree sometimes playing smart only works if you hit it good all right I caught this tree here which is not good this hole the way this green is designed is meant for wedges to come in not four irons uh 191 got to try and hit it low and still carry a bunker uh my goal would be actually that middle front right middle front bunker cuz if this flies over those bunkers there’s no hold in the green oh another one out right pinh high should have a fairly straightforward chip all right so just off the right pin high fairly straightforward shot you can see how small this green is got one little bad spot here again on the edge not in play but I’m going to hit a pitching wedge kind of bump and run it the way the greens are rolling no reason to try and fly this there break right break right i’ll take that little three-foot putt for par all right so three over on the front mainly due to a three putt on a number seven thought I was hitting an uphill putt it turned out to be downhill hit it too far by but uh anyway so we’re here on 10 slight dog leg it’s actually a hard dog leg right typical of Jack Nicholas everything moves left to right cuz he like to fade the ball it’s like 225 to carry the bunker 265 to run out of fairway so I’m trying to hit 3wood again but it’s a good way to start the back n finishes the front nine and starts the back nine with uh good birdie opportunities even though I screwed up number nine So this fairway seems a little thinner than the rest not a lot of I mean there’s still a lot of grass on it just a little thinner you can see between the the grass to the turf in some areas low areas over there just haven’t quite uh grown back in yet you know just still still recovering from verification unfortunately a necessary evil in golf but all in all still very playable still beautiful just very [Music] minor kick right kick right kick right all right don’t talk to your golf ball cuz it doesn’t listen so I actually have a minute waiting on a group ahead of me i’m going to hit a few chip shots but I’m going to take this opportunity one of the biggest things I’m seeing out here golfers got to do a better job of there’s plenty of sand provided on the carts i’m seeing so many divots that aren’t filled in some of them you know 2 to 3 in deep i I get if you’re kind of walking up to the green your partner takes the card or something but I mean come golfers we just got to do better fill in the uh divots it really helps the golf course heal looks better plays better for everybody else behind you so uh please just fill in those divots use the sand on the carts hey hey hey all right well I’m going to try and keep filming as much as I can uh at least you know playing golf but this is uh another really good short riskreward hole you know longer hitters can try and drive the green but there’s a lot of risk there hazard down the left bunkers um I’m just going to try and place a 3-wood probably should hit a three iron kind of down the right side but this is golf you’re right [Music] caught a tree never saw it down but ooh another one trying to play smart and hit a bad shot baby hey all right so we’re here on 18 actually have a little time group behind me hasn’t quite caught me waiting on a group ahead uh but here on 18 is playing 425 slightly uphill it’s got a bunker right that’s about 235 to carry plays 448 from the back really good finishing hole i love the backdrop of the clubhouse takes two really good shots to uh get on the green and try and make birdie here just you good good hole to finish a good challenge oh that doesn’t help though sometimes when you wait a while you get quick but that was horrible that’s like 200 yards cuz I’m going to have a long shot in all right absolutely horrible T- shot i think it only went like 220 got 214 left at the hole not exactly where you want to be but that is just a beautiful backdrop with that log cabin club clubhouse chase up and kick left the other left little work left [Music] [Music] well that’s a disappointing bogey to finish i think that’s a 6 over 78 not too bad with two doubles i’m still dealing with some lingering pain in my back so there you have it there’s Grand Bear like I said I absolutely love this golf course it’s just uh not quite ready for verification to be pure there’s still some thin spots to go but uh I’m going to get out of these people way and uh give you a conclusion all right everyone uh in conclusion actually came over here to the short game area got to work on some things it’s going to practice a little bit after all in all the course is really great yes there’s some thin areas on the green still from verification which I actually just found out was about a month ago they have not gotten the warmer temperatures that we’ve gotten in New Orleans which is part of the reason why that grass hasn’t really popped and thickened up give it about a week or two it should be fine even the areas that were thin on the greens the ball still rolled well over not 100% but it barely bounced um I only had one that really kind of bounced off line but not even maybe an inch other than that they all kind of roll pretty good the areas that are good on the greens are absolutely perfect that’s where 90% of all the flags are uh just the the fairways are good t- box is a little thin but they’re still good i don’t use a TE on par threes and I was still able to just put the ball down on some good turf and play um so game’s not quite where I want still dealing with some pain i’m going to go work on that but all in all Grand Bear is in great condition considering aification and I look forward to coming back out here in about a month or so check it out again see how much the grass is growing in i think it’s going to be uh you know back to the top shape good rate great golf course so uh definitely come check it out um and also I’m not going to do a blog post with this this is just going to be a video review based on verification i don’t want to say too much bad about it but uh I’ll come back out in a in a month or so and do a full review with the blog post so thanks for watching we’ll see you next time [Music]
