all right well the Wonder we are here down in the lab at ecpc if you saw my opening video up at the HQ we talked a little bit about the new Ferry Woods for elite and the step sole design we’re going to put that to the test it’s an idea that I love uh anytime you mess with the sole of a Fairwood to make the turf interaction better to help launch and all that kind of fun stuff I get intrigued so I’m excited to test this out today we’re going to hit some shots and I’m going to kind of walk you through Elite Ferry Woods it’s world of Wonder here we go okay so when we talk about furry Woods it’s always kind of a fun conversation everybody’s trying to figure out new clever ways to get the ball up especially for the cons at a consumer level tour is a little bit different but at a consumer level it’s always about ball speed launch spin regulation all these funny things but one of the things that we’ve never really tackled in in Earnest is the soul how are you getting that Golf Club into the turf to present the right part of the face to hit the shot that you want to hit a lot of Fairy Woods have a very very kind of Soul some of them have a deep face if you look at somebody like you know one of the ones we made for rombo he had that fer with a ton of camber all kind of satisfy the same thing which is to get the club into the turf properly to get the leading enge under the ball to get the face on it to get the ball up in the air so what we did this year with the elite is they have what we call a step sole design and what that’s going to allow you to do is two things one is it makes the strikes which is a lot of us hit it out of the bottom of the club it makes these a lot better which I got really excited about cuz I hit a lot of shots thin with Ferry wood woods and the other thing is is it gets into the turf so the way that it gets the way the soul interacts with the turf is it kind of allows the player to kind of live one or two grooves up the face which is what will increase ball speed and all that kind of fun stuff so let’s see if it works so this is the Triple Diamond Head just going to test it with one head the sols on both models are the same but today I just want to test the soul design that’s the big story with fairwoods this year is the that step sole so let’s give it a whirl and I’m going to be paying attention to like where am I hitting it on the face that’s kind of what I want to notice so we’re on quad we’re using Chrome tourx golf balls you always want to do Club tests with the balls that you play so I’m going to actively be trying to get this club into the turf I want to see even if I get a little steep on it I want to see what this does like that was a little wipy but I got to tell you I mean I still got 153 out of it it carried out there 249 and spun it 3,400 but I hit that like the the the golf swing that I made I actually still got that like out here which typically that would be a shot that I would hit down here so I’m kind of paying attention to how many groups up the face I’m going to be living at with this new Soul so we’re going to H about three or four more I won’t subject you guys to my golf swing for a ton of time I know I’m not Xander shle but who is that was good there I mean that was 156 launch at 8 and a half spun at 3200 carried out there 258 but again I’m I’m trying to I’m trying to bury this bury the club into the ground like I’m literally trying to I don’t want to say chunk it but I’m trying to get the ball into the turf what I’m noticing is that with this sole the club just kind of wants to skip almost like a wedge but skip in the right spot so it’s presenting the right part of the face to the ball which I think is a really cool piece of technology okay that was a thin one but if you guys can catch this on camera I hit that really really thin I mean hell it launched at six but I still got 154 ball speed out of this thing and it’s still carried out there 254 and spun at 3664 so spin went up a little bit but I got a lot out of that I mean I hit that down here and keep in mind you have this Cog here you know I always do these test these videos in NS but you can play with a cog to change the ball flight and do all that kind of fun stuff so that was nuked I mean 157 ball speed for me with a three was humming launched at 11 spun at 2909 carried out there 263 it’s pretty good with a three-wood for me uh okay let’s h a couple more well one more off the ground I’ll try to kind of bury one and hit one low and then I’ll hit one off the T there’s the low one really thin but it got up still 150 I did not hit that good and that’s what I want to talk about about I always talk about in my videos about raising the floor I hit that terrible it that way down here I still got 152 ball speed out of it it only spun at 3300 it launched at 5 and I still got 251 carry out of it that’s what I noticed the good ones are the good ones but when you guys go to your fittings and you’re talking to your fitter about I want this I want that like the first thing you should say is I want my bad shots to be elite that’s what you should be saying to your fitter cuz your good shots your good shots all right let’s hit a couple off the team we’ll get out of here so step so design is at work so far this grass is pretty tight I’m getting a lot of face on the ball that was the best of all of them obviously off of the te you’re going to get you’re going to hit a little bit better 158 launched at 9.2 spun at 3165 carried out their 262 so what are we going to say about Elite Ferry woods so part we were focusing on was this part steps so design it does it does its job I hit a lot of bad shots that ended up in really really good spots but look it’s a cway fairywood they’re all fast they’re all forgiving this one looks amazing the triple diamond one does you know kind of mirrors the driver it’s got that kind of glossy top as far as the consumer goes and you guys at home weekend golfers there’s a lot of technology that are going to actually apply to your games probably more so than other years to be honest with you especially with the faery woods and some of the other stuff we’re doing about swinging the club a little bit faster a lot of things to consider when you’re going in for your fittings but if you have any more questions go to Callaway golf.com World Wonder website I’m actually excited to take this out on the golf course uh it’s Johnny from the lab at ecpc we’re out of here [Music]
