MADISON – Tiger Woods could be coming to Madison very soon.
At least Steve Stricker hopes so.
Asked on June 7 if his good friend will appear in the future at Stricker’s American Family Insurance Championship, Stricker sounded optimistic.

The setting would be perfect. Woods made his professional debut at the Greater Milwaukee Open 30 years ago. He turns 50 in December, and will be eligible for PGA Tour Champions Tour events like the AmFam.
“Yeah, for sure,” Stricker said. “Hopefully someday he can come back to the state thatgave him his first opportunity at the GMO. Yeah, it would be a lot of fun to have him.”

The golfers are friends after playing together in the 2010 and 2012 Ryder Cups and the 2009 and 2011 Presidents Cups. Woods and his son played alongside Stricker and his daughter at the PNC Championship in 2023.

AmFam’s new team format and the ability to use carts could appeal to an injury-ravaged Woods.
“We’ll see,” Stricker said. “I don’t know how much he’s going to play out here, but hopefully someday hefeels like he should come here and play.”
