The PERFECT Projector for Golf Simulators
this is genuinely one of the best golf simulator projectors I’ve ever tested if you’re in the market for a 4K projector I honestly don’t think you can look any further than this one stick around to see my initial reaction as I set up the BenQ AK700 ST and I’ll go on to explain exactly why I think this is the perfect projector for your golf simulator setup the BenQ AK700 ST isn’t just another projector it’s the first laser projector that’s 4K and tailorade for home golf simulators it’s got a short throw ratio of 69 to83 which basically means that you can project a very high quality and large image from not very far away so therefore you’re not going to cast any shadows onto your impact screen when you’re playing to give you an example my projector is mounted just over 10 ft away from the 15t wide screen it’s got 4,000 lumens of brightness which is plenty for most indoor setups and being a laser projector it takes hardly any time at all to load up and it’s going to last for more than 20,000 hours of usage time now as with all of BenQ’s ACE series of golf simulator projectors it’s got a golf mode which makes those greens and the blues visually stand out to create an even more immersive experience and not only that because it’s 4K it can double up perfectly well as a home cinema movie projector so all you need to do is plug in your Fire Stick or Apple TV and you can have a movie theater with the rest of the family now probably the biggest standout feature for me is just the size of this projector it is absolutely tiny when compared to my own current projector the BenQ LK954 ST which is also a 4K projector now this one the AK700 is just so much easier to handle which makes it much easier to install and it gives you a lot less anxiety when you are mounting it onto the ceiling thinking that you’re going to drop it i did not feel like that at all with this one so when it came to installing this projector it actually shocked me it’s perfect for DIY golf simulator builds or for anybody who might not be very comfortable with setting up a projector on their own because this process is legitimately so simple something’s got to happen here that makes this installation too good to be true but we’ll see once I’d taken my current projector down I used BenQ’s online sim room planner to find out how far away I need to mount the AK700 ST from my impact screen now actually mounting it to the ceiling was easy due to how lightweight it is and once I went through the menu settings I found BenQ’s unbelievable auto screen fit feature oh we have an auto screen fit oh be good to me be good to me literally at the press of a button the projector automatically adjusted its image to completely fill all four corners of my impact screen i tell you what what the It’s done it it’s absolutely done it maybe some fine fine adjustments in the corner oh my days that is amazing then all I needed to do was press the autofocus button on the remote and it took away any blurriness from the image and made it crystal clear oh yes oh yes i did some ever so slight tweaking of the corners with the extremely flexible corner fit feature using the remote control you’ve got such so much room for adjustment with the corner fit right and these newer models these newer BenQ models um they’re so much more flexible compared to my LK954 ST where I can only adjust the corner fit a little bit or even previous models like the LH600 ST you can adjust the corner fit but a little bit on these newer models they’re just so good and that was literally it i was good to go with a perfectly projected 4K image i genuinely can’t get over how good this is the ease of install is just it’s perfect simple as that i love it thank you i love it it is good to know that if you do need to mount your projector off to one side then you can still get a perfect image using the keystone correction that’s within the projector settings and also for the auto screen fit to work properly you should initially mount the projector a little further away so that the image is bigger than the size of your impact screen and your screen should also have some clear black borders to help the projector identify the size and aspect ratio of your impact screen right honestly honestly I’m blown away by this right this is fantastic right and I’m going to go as far as saying that this projector is as good as if not better than my LK954 ST how easy is that to install right my LK954 ST I’m not going to lie to you it took me days to get that figured out and sorted and set up correctly i pressed a few buttons and I just got this image right how good is that i’ve said this so many times before projectors are one of the hardest things to install because you’ve got to figure out how far away you’ve got to mount it blahy blah right this get it up there does it all itself now what I also love about this projector is that it comes with Wi-Fi connectivity as well so you can purchase an additional Wi-Fi dongle that allows you to hook up your tablet or your smartphone so you don’t have to worry about all of the stressful connections through computers and HDMI leads and stuff like that if you don’t want to so this is an excellent option for somebody who just wants a simplistic indoor setup yet is still immersive now let me show you i’ve got the FSX sorry I’ve got the Foresight app loaded up here now all I need to do is go to my iPad and I need to select the uh screen mirroring option and then give it a minute and it should come up but there’s also one extra thing that I want to show you as well so here we go so I’ve got my Foresight app loaded up i’ve got a session that I’m going to be cracking on with in a moment on other projectors you kind of have to keep the same native resolution aspect ratio um with the Wi-Fi connection with BenQ’s other models right and you still do with this one however this projector is so good um at customizing right so initially the projector let me just just bear with me a sec the projector’s image once I changed it from the computer HDMI hookup to the wireless hookup the image was miles bigger than what it is but because we got the zoom feature on this projector we can just uh zoom out a little bit and we can fill our screen a little bit more again if we just head up to the corner fit sorry we’ll go to installation geometry we’ll go to the corner fit right i can even start bringing the corners in again with this image so it fills the screen this is just this is this customization is just amazing and it’s something that you don’t usually get when it comes to the wireless connectivity there we go i’ve got pretty much my full iPad image onto the wireless connectivity projector let’s hit some shots oh it’s a decent strikes to be fair just the versatility of this projector makes it pretty much perfect for anybody who wants to buy it no matter what kind of golf simulator setup you’re going for okay stick around because I am going to reveal how much this projector costs in a moment scottish Heffller has just demolished everybody at Quail Hollow and won the PGA Championship and the Green Mile was just brutal wasn’t it so here we are on the 16th the start of the Green Mile and I am from the back tease from the pro Tes right this par 4 is 532 yards i do not expect to be making anything better than a bogey on this hole and that’s if I stay out of the water so watch me play this hole and you can see how amazing this projector is in play oh my days that is not a good start oh it hits it fat and right again what am I doing let’s go 95 it’s going to be a bit big that just bite for me just slide by 211 yards over water par three pushed it right again but it’s got to be over the water at least that’s the bailout shot isn’t it oh my days so the 18th it’s an amazing hole but it’s another monstrous par4 over 500 yards par4 with that brook all the way down the left hand side but I’m hitting it right today so hopefully I shouldn’t go in there everything’s going right luckily the hole is a monster so got away with it it’s not a bad hit just pushed it right again though that’s more like it yes so how much is this going to set you back well at the time of making this video it’s currently coming in at just over $2,000 or $2,000 now yes that is a lot of money for a projector however when it comes to golf
