In this video, Stuart Cartwright from Good Golf Coaching breaks down one of the most misunderstood and overlooked elements in the golf swing: the transition. Discover how pulling the handle toward the golf ball—rather than casting or pushing—can be the missing link that transforms your consistency, compresses the golf ball, and improves club path for more powerful, accurate shots.

Whether you’re struggling with an over-the-top move, early extension, or weak contact, this lesson dives into the feel, biomechanics, and drills that bring the transition to life.

  2. Very good Stu : BTW could you put a link up for your top 5 videos in the community chat? It has to be the case these are your best work! ATB

  3. Excellent video, Stuart. Your advice has made a huge positive impact on my results, and my enjoyment from golf. Thanks🙏

  5. Wow i didnt realise the pressure on grip was so important know ones really taught this that ive seen only other professional that teaches this is mike malaska

  6. Thanks Stu. I've had a huge improvement with this, although tbh in practicing I find i often get a slice. I actually get it right when my main thought process is "slow the start of the downswing and get the hands around my lead trouser pocket". (if I try just starting at p6 then pull the hands in – it all goes off a bit snatch, which my old bd habit anyway.)
I clearly need to work on laying the shaft more based on what you say…. Cheers

  7. I think a lot of people who strike the ball well might “feel” they are pulling the club down but in reality they are doing exactly as you are suggesting. Feel is hardly ever real in golf. Thanks for keeping it real Stu!

  8. Stu that was absolutely brilliant! I love the superimposed visual dots. Would be great to see more simple visuals like that into the future. It allows me to fixate on exactly what you are referring to in isolation.

  9. Highly illuminating. The concept of the heavy end eventually looping over the light end and the two ends going in the same direction is rather wonderful.
    Thank you

    Thank you

  11. Stu, we discussed this in prior videos, I, and suspect, many golfers who strike the ball fairly well, think that we are swinging our arms down and around, when, in reality, we are pulling the handle forward, down and to the left. The best way to see this is to look at lady professionals in slow motion, you’ll see that they are doing as Stu says. If your coaching is lunacy, then give me a lunatic coach everyday of the week. Cheers.

  12. Love this video. Been struggling recently on the back swing and realised I’m not getting the head up and pushing down enough on the handle on the takeaway. Just jumped into the garden and now it feels much better ! Thanks

  13. Stuart my thoughts are..handle in head up on my backswing..then lighter grip pressure at the top..turn and swing…working well so far with irons..not so with driver ..
Thanks for your continued efforts to educate us 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

  14. Another great vid Stu. Always on message. I'm so glad I don't read the idiot comments. BTW, had a feeling I wasn't gripping the club properly so revisited the grip vid the other day and big improvement straight away 👍. Also got an idea for Good Golf Coaching merch if your interested in hearing it

  15. Thank you Stu. Another great video that not only explains the pull move in detail but also teaches us WHY! I am still working on the pull with keeping a soft right arm while still getting LAG before the straightening of the right arm. This all happens so fast. Each day it's getting better and this video just reenforces your other videos. Love the club drop at the end of the video…kind of a mic drop moment I would say…
