Bryson DeChambeau compared Donald Trump to golfing great Tiger Woods after the LIV Golf man met with the President in Washington, D.C. last weekend.

DeChambeau, who is known to be a good friend of the golf-loving President, met with Trump at the White House before the pair also made an appearance at Trump National Golf Club in D.C.. The LIV man has become one of golf’s biggest names in recent years, following a successful switch to the LIV setup.

But reminiscing about his time back on the PGA Tour, DeChambeau spoke of the abilities of 15-time major champion Woods, who appears to remind him of the President.

“I think in my era, who I played with, Tiger is the ultimate competitor,” DeChambeau said in a clinic at Trump’s course. With the President overseeing the U.S. Open champion’s presentation to those fans in attendance, DeChambeau added: “[Woods is] somebody that is rarely unfazed.

“I played with him in the 2017, 2018, and 2019 time frame. You could tell there was a difference, a presence difference. Much like yourself, Mr President. You walk into an area, and it is just different. He has had that aura about him.”

It came after Trump was heard complimenting DeChambeau, labelling the Crushers captain as the best player on the planet alongside world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. “He is a great guy, a great golfer. Probably the No. 1 now, him and Scottie [Scheffler] are rated at the top,” Trump said of DeChambeau.

“We play golf a lot together. It is not a very pleasant experience for me. I always consider myself a reasonably long hitter, and then I play with him. I go home and my wife says, ‘Are you as long as Bryson?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I am pretty close’. It is not close.”

Trump and DeChambeau have been friends for some time, but their relationship appears to have grown closer over the past year. Last July, the President was featured on the U.S. Open champion’s YouTube channel for an edition of “Break 50,” a video that has since been viewed 15 million times.

When he was re-elected to the Oval Office in November, Trump also brought DeChambeau onto the stage in Florida during his victory speech. Trump has since taken on a major role in the world of golf, after the PGA Tour drafted in the Republican to aid peace talks with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia.

Keen to see the Tour and LIV come together, Trump said in April: “Ultimately, hopefully, the two tours are going to merge. That’ll be good. I’m involved in that too. But hopefully we’re going to get the two tours to merge. You have the PGA Tour and the LIV Tour. And I think having them merge would be a great thing.”
