CBS golf interviewer Amanda Balionis apologized to world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler’s son after posting his bathroom “blowout” during his dad’s post-win interview.
Scheffler, 28, defended his title at the Memorial Tournament over the weekend, becoming only the second-ever player to do so after the legendary Tiger Woods. It was Scheffler’s second PGA Tour win in a matter of weeks, winning the PGA Championship last month and now the Memorial Tournament.
Speaking to Balionis at Muirfield Village Golf Club after sealing victory ahead of Benjamin Griffin, Scheffler got emotional when asked about his high school sweetheart-turned-wife, Meredith, who is the mother of their one-year-old son, Bennett. However, before Scheffler’s interview, baby Bennett had suffered a bathroom mishap. “He has poop all over his back,” Meredith told husband Scheffler.

“That’ll happen,” Scheffler jokingly responded. Unfortunately for Bennett, the brown stain could be seen in Scheffler’s interview with Balionis. The reporter has now jokingly apologized. “Sorry Bennett about posting your blowout… mom and dad can use this as blackmail when you’re older,” Balionis said on Instagram.
Balionis also praised Scheffler, who is still the world No. 1 and has started the 2025 season strongly. “Scottie joins Tiger Woods as the only other player in @memorialgolf history to successfully defend their title,” she said in an Instagram post alongside pictures of Scheffler and Bennett.
“World Number 1 is the 4th fastest player in history to reach 16 wins behind just Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods. Scottie has also now successfully converted NINE consecutive outright 54-hole leads.

“That’s second only to Tiger (who did it an unfathomable 36 consecutive times when holding the outright 54-hole lead). I don’t know guys. He’s just really freaking good okay?!”
In the end, Scheffler won by four shots and was branded “ruthless” by rivals. “It’s pretty cool,” Scheffler said. “It’s always a hard week. It’s so challenging to play this tournament. Ben made things interesting down the stretch. Overall, it was a great week.”
Balionis also tapped into Scheffler’s emotional side. “Watching you and Meredith and Bennett, it makes me think — we’ve been talking about Barbara Nicklaus all week this week and how she made so much of Jack’s career possible with her support,” Balionis asked.

“Talk about what this balance looks like and the support Meredith provides that allows you to be the best father, husband you can be while also being the number one player in the world.”
Scheffler swiftly replied: “You’re really trying to make me emotional now,” prompting a round of laughter from him and Balionis.
“I mean, my wife is my biggest supporter,” he added. “She’s my best friend, and this is our life out here on the road. It’s been a lot of fun and I’ve had some special memories at this tournament. Yeah, definitely couldn’t do it without her.”
